What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Being familiar with visual studio, the interface is very similar, and the structure of how to build a database is similar to that of building a windows forms application with its design view. I also like the natural integration with visual studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Only thing that comes to mind is that you have to use the drop and create query to make an edit to a table when I'd much rather use the design view. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft SQL Server:

MySql may be free and an obvious competitor, but I find MS SQL Server to be much easier to use, and much more intuitive. Much easier to install as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft SQL Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

Building custom software applications for my clients has seen great benefit from using MS SQL server. When a client needs something more from their website than a CMS has to offer, I can create intranets and other business applications that feed off of other systems. Many problems with SSIS. It's a nice framework, but there are some big things missing that they haven't bothered changing. Working with xml isn't easy, neither is having reusable components. One of the biggest things that's just ridiculous is that you can't reasonably import a simple csv with SSIS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft SQL Server:

Go for it if you are using ASP.NET using C# because it has great integration with Visual Studio and it is the most secure of any of the major database platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I am creating an application using C#, which feeds data in Active Directory, Sales and CRM application of the company.

There is a tremendous amount of support and resources available on the web and from Information Technology (IT) providers. Plus, it’s relatively easy to work with. SQL Server has great integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

simple organization and intuitive design make it easy to pick up and use. key words/identifiers and commands are abundant to the point where i haven't come across a problem that i could not solve through using the available functionality on its own or in creating custom functionality.

system architecture allows you to control access through database principles (users/roles) and allows for auditing of actions and objects.

again, i've yet to come across a solution that i couldn't resolve using ssms and there hasn't even been cases where i even almost wasn't able to solve a problem. honestly can't think of anything i dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft SQL Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

we use sql server 2008 (hoping to update in 2017) for our EHR solution in order to not only store organization and patient data, but to configure functionality within the application. we use jobs to take nightly snapshots of data which we then report off of using stored procedures along with an integrated ssrs component within our application. our database is a major part of our solution and thus various agents use it contemporaneously for different reasons and due to its straightforward usage, it's very easy to pick up and thus helps us in terms of company scaling as new hires are able to use it without much training.
