## Informatica Data Integration and Engineering Reviews
  ### 1. Robust Data Integration with Steep Setup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through LinkedIn

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

I appreciate Informatica PowerCenter as it's been the backbone of all my data integration work. The mapping designer with its visual drag-and-drop interface makes it much easier to build data transformation logic and understand each step, especially when revisiting old mappings. The workflow manager offers good control over scheduling and error handling when dealing with complex and large data volumes. The built-in connectors, error handling, and logging also stand out to me. I find the reusable transformation sessions on the workflow and metadata manager quite reliable and flexible. Even though it's not flashy, it's solid and dependable.

**What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

Informatica PowerCenter is powerful, but it has some really rough edges. The cost is hard to justify, especially since licensing is expensive for a large enterprise. Sometimes I wonder if I'm paying too much for it, especially when simpler tools could handle the same job. Also, newcomers face a steep learning curve, and debugging is painful there. The cloud support feels like a nightmare, almost an afterthought. Additionally, performance tuning requires specific knowledge. If I could improve one thing, it would be the debugging experience. Setting up Informatica PowerCenter initially was a hassle; the installation is complex and requires significant infrastructure setup. Licensing configuration was a headache too. We relied heavily on Informatica's documentation and had consultants help us for the first couple of weeks, which saved us a lot of time and frustration.

**What problems is Informatica Data Integration and Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Informatica PowerCenter solves data silos for me by centralizing data from multiple systems like ERP, CRM, and flat files. It saves time in data cleaning and transformation, allows reusable mappings, and scales well with expanding data volumes, giving me peace of mind.

**What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

Informatica Cloud Data Integration provides robust connectivity to a variety of data sources and cloud platforms. I appreciate its extensive selection of connectors and built-in transformations, which are particularly helpful for regular ETL tasks which are used by me on daily basis. After configuring the pipelines, data transfers are both dependable and scalable, and the integration with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake works seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

The initial setup and configuration process can be quite complex, particularly for those who are new to the platform. Monitoring and debugging jobs often require additional effort, and optimizing performance is not always a simple task. The user interface could be more intuitive, and the response times from support may vary depending on the nature of the issue.

**What problems is Informatica Data Integration and Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Informatica Cloud Data Integration helps us move and transform data reliably across multiple systems and cloud platforms. It reduces manual effort in building and maintaining ETL pipelines, ensures consistent data delivery, and supports scheduled data loads. This improves data availability for analytics and allows teams to focus more on insights rather than data movement.

  ### 4. Efficient Data Handling with Notable Scalability Limitations

**What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

I like Informatica PowerCenter's easy-to-use interface and how it reduces the need for manual coding, like writing Python or SQL queries. It automates and manages complete ETL processes and is built to handle huge volumes of data with features like data partitioning and pushdown optimization. It supports a wide array of data sources, including relational databases and cloud services. I also appreciate its built-in features for data validation, cleansing, profiling, and mapping.

**What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

Informatica PowerCenter was built for on-premise environments, meaning it lacks native support for dynamic cloud-based infrastructure. This results in limitations when integrating with modern cloud data warehouses and services. Scaling for large and fluctuating workloads often requires hardware upgrades and resource management, like adding physical servers, which is resource-intensive and complex compared to the automatic elastic scaling of cloud-native platforms. The platform can struggle with seamless integration across complex hybrid and multi-cloud environments. PowerCenter involves significant upfront licensing costs, ongoing maintenance expenses, and infrastructure management costs. It requires substantial server resources, CPU, memory, disk space, and dedicated IT teams for maintenance, updates, and performance tuning. It also lacks built-in AI-powered automation for tools like data pipeline development or data discovery.

**What problems is Informatica Data Integration and Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Informatica PowerCenter helps in migrating legacy datasets to the data lake, handling data within pipelines without constraining business ideas, and segregating datasets into affordable buckets. It reduces the cost of hardware and software ownership by 55%.

**What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

I like Informatica Cloud Data Integration because it offers a vast set of tools and has drag and drop features, which means I don't have to manually script everything. I just need to specify parameters or connections, and most of it is SQL-based, making it very easy to use and understand, even for beginners.

**What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

The thing I would like to say which can be improved is defining parameters. Defining parameters is somewhat easy, but I feel like it should have more intelligence. Even if we don't specify parameters in the parameter panel, it should be able to identify if a parameter file is mentioned. AI or on-device AI could be used for identifying parameters, like if a single dollar or double dollar parameter is passed, so it should be able to fetch from the parameter file and execute it in the workflow.

**What problems is Informatica Data Integration and Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Informatica Cloud Data Integration for data cleaning, collecting heterogeneous data from various sources, and coding it to make it consumable for our targets.

**What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

My comfortability is growing and developing with our IICS. We are migrating and integrating our IICS with a newly provisioned Linux enivronment. It has been enlightening to recreate the mapping and the taskflows. The IICS really facilitates easy creation of intricate flows within our business requirements to external platforms and internally to other teams. Any piece of this flow can be readily categorized and identified from the UI.

In this migration, I had frequent configuration questions with IICS help team. They all have been incredibly knowleable and accommodating. Their help has been invaluable.

**What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

This is a rather minor nitpick, but IICS UI readily logs me out after only 15-20 of being idle. If idle time prior to logout could be extended, this would be greatly appreciated.

Our primary use case for Informatica Cloud Data Integration is to facilitate consumption and production from internal and external platforms. From there, our magnitude and diversity of data is processed accordingly, according to specifications and facilitated by our IICS UI. Subsequently, the IICS allows us to specfify the ultimate destination in a very organized and straightforward manner.

**What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

Informatica Powercenter is one of the earliest tool which is used by most of the dataengineers for etl. Simple UI and Simple Drag and Drop makes it easier for use.

**What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

It needs to update a lot ,as it is some earlier kind of tool.It doesn't have some functionalities which modern etl tools provide with their basic plan. But it can be used with python to make full use of it.

**What problems is Informatica Data Integration and Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to migrate data in data warehouse systems such as it helps in transferring data from specific database to data warehouse which can be queried for analytical purpose.

**What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

User Interface is the best I like about Informatica PowerCenter., any new user can learn this tool in no time along with that the logs are very informative which helps in debugging any issues. Developers find the tool very easy to use with all the tools in their arsenal to transform data with minimum learning curve.

**What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

There are times when the performance of informatica powercenter might not be best when compared to the underlined database., but I have observed in such cases the developers push the entire logic to a database for performance optimization.

**What problems is Informatica Data Integration and Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team can transform data with all the inbuilt transformations available in the tool as per business needs to create an optimized data warehouse which helps our reporting team to create reports with ease. We can create world-class data warehouse with minimum effort using informatica powercenter.

**What do you like best about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

Best thing is the ease of using and the tools it provides for creating ETL pipelines in fast and effective manner, also the availability of cloud version is really a good part

**What do you dislike about Informatica Data Integration and Engineering?**

Support of all the kind of data files should be there, like Kafka topics or plugins for mainframe files so that the pipeline can expect all kinds of sources to pull data

**What problems is Informatica Data Integration and Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used for solving the ETL requirements by creating interactive pipelines and scheduling or monitoring of pipelines through informatica monitor along with the workflow and workers creation for repeated uses
