"SQL Server is one of Best RDBMS in market"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL Server provides multiple options to choose for High Availability for e.g. Always ON, Database Mirroring, Replication, Cluster, Log shipping, etc. It support database snapshot and content databases which is very useful way of managing multiple DB requirements. Client tool is one of best add on, almost 99% of activities can be performed using intuitive GUI console, easy for newcomers and also provide advanced capabilities for advanced DBA's. It provides easy to use configurable options, vast online help for using it, it is certainly a very High available RDBMS system and reliable enough to provide 99.99% availability for mission critical applications. Other features I like about, MSDN, Microsoft community support, Powershell support for programming administrations and the list is endless. It do come with 180 days trial version and is a good way to start up with for new SQL Server administrators and developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It doesn't provide portability to AIX/Unix based system, may be in near future it will come as Microsoft just announced some progress on same due to Microsoft R support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The downfall of the house of Oracle -- SQL Server is enterprise ready!"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I love the fact that SQL Server has been steadily getting better and better since it's initial release. Oracle dominated the database market at the time and SQL server was dismissed as a "tinker toy" database and not something ready for the enterprise.

SQL server is now world class, easy to use and the SQL Always On option is a really easy way to setup mirrored SQL sites for instant backup and disaster recovery.

The interface is point and click and, as expected, feels just like other Microsoft products. The ease of integration both into and out of SQL server make it ideal for all types of businesses large and small.

Oh...and SQLExpress (the free version) is usually good enough for development and test environment if you are short on $$$. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Not much -- many of the annoying gaps have been plugged and it is pretty rock solid in terms of all the functions I need including backup/recovery, deployment, etc...

SQL server (like all databases) has benefited GREATLY from the general rise of available RAM and faster hard drives in everything from latptops to servers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great database to work with"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

The capabilities of Microsoft SQL Server are amazing. They have added some very useful features over the years my favorite being MERGE and CTE. I've used it every day for the past 10 years, and the only time it failed under heavy load was back before we upgraded to 2008 version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The SQL Server Management Studio is ok, it allows you to change UI colors, etc. I was able to find a dark theme... But it's a far cry from a true IDE. Although if you are using .NET and Visual Studio you'd probably have a lot more options. Also, I'm yet to find a good way of doing version tracking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

To achieve some of the things that shouldn’t be hard, are actually much harder (than they should be, e.g. pivoting tables). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
