What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

The user interface (SQL Server Configuration Manager) is pretty clean and easy to peruse through. Being a microsoft product, it works will with our microsoft server operating systems. Backup features are native and easy to set up. Also, being a microsoft product, there is a lot of documentation out there on MSDN and TechNet for just about anything that you need to accomplish. What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

I have had issues with certain settings being set in Group Policy. But honestly, other than that, I have had no real issues with the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft SQL Server:

Make sure that it fits the needs of what you plan to implement, but it is a great DB solution, and it is nice that it is a MS product if you are a predominantly MS shop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft SQL Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Conversion of data is what I would say I like best for this and ease of accessibility. Once configured and added correctly, it is a great database addition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Some of the complexities and compatibility. Easier use of this would be grand and could benefit Microsoft as well as the users of Structured Query Language. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft SQL Server:

I would suggest grabbing this and adding it to a server to keep your database clean and accessible. It is also a great way to add additional storage for old documents you may need to access for future needs. This allows you to keep your in-house machines free of files that are not needed and are no longer used. As well as allowing your appropriate teams to access older files once archived.

Imagine if your business could suddenly remove Gigabytes of needed hard drive space, placing it into the SQL and then allowing you to have tons of freed up room to now be available. This not only helps with making your machine faster for queries you now use, but it also stops you from having to purchase a NAS that may not be needed or additional external storage ideas. What problems is Microsoft SQL Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

Database maintenance would be the best thing I would say here. Correct utilization of SQL can turn your company into a great business.

What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Array of tools to monitor as well as good UI for when I'm feeling lazy. There is a great range of external tools that come with it for monitoring queries as well as processes. Also, creating new DBs, tables, and jobs is as easy as writing a script, or right clicking and going through a wizard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Compatibility modes make it a little difficult when programming for multiple clients on different versions. But this is more of an issue on us to make sure we right backwards compatible code. Also, the intellisense could be better for suggesting but that's just a pet peeve of mine. Still pretty good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft SQL Server:

If you're a fan of relational databases, then MSSQL is the way to go. I prefer the UI over others like Oracle and MySQL Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft SQL Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

The benefits of using Microsoft SQL are the abilities to set compatibility modes across the board, but still difficult when developing scripts to stay that way. We often write full scripts to update and insert into DBs. We use 2016 but need to support as far back as what Microsoft supports which can be a bit of a hassle to remember. Wish there was an easy way within the program to know that what I'm using is deprecated, or no longer support, or what I'm using will not be support in previous versions.
