# What is the most affordable vulnerability scanner for SMBs?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Hey all! </p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Looking for suggestions here. We’re a smaller IT/security team and need a vulnerability scanner that’s reliable but doesn’t crush the budget. Enterprise-grade tools are often overkill for what we need, so I’m curious what scanners actually make sense for SMBs.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">From the G2 Grid, here are some of the options I’ve been looking at:</p><ul>

Did you stick with lighter tools like Intruder/Aikido, or just go with Nessus and call it a day?</p>

&lt;p&gt;I’m also curious, for smaller teams, is it smarter to just start with open-source/free scanners (like OpenVAS) and then upgrade later, or is it worth investing early in a budget-friendly commercial tool so you don’t have to switch down the line?&lt;/p&gt;
