The workflow manager offers good control over scheduling and error handling when dealing with complex and large data volumes. The built-in connectors, error handling, and logging also stand out to me. I find the reusable transformation sessions on the workflow and metadata manager quite reliable and flexible. Even though it's not flashy, it's solid and dependable. **What do you dislike about Informatica PowerCenter?** Informatica PowerCenter is powerful, but it has some really rough edges. Have the option of selecting different types of sources and targets and can integrate with other applications as well. Integration of different databases all under one roof is very nice. **What do you dislike about Informatica PowerCenter?** **Several times the error logs, when the session fails are not very intuitive and one has to dig deep in order to figure out where the problem is. There should maybe some kind of better documentation to help resolve issues. **Also, it's a bit pricey, I think, especially from the smaller firms' POV. So, if it wishes to in-future provide for the smaller firms as well, maybe a different kind of less expensive model would be great. **Also, sometimes the designer gets stuck, whenever I try to open some repository that might be having several sub-folders, it takes several minutes to just open one repository. **And sometimes it gets stuck on the designer in a particular mapping and becomes unresponsive and one has no option but to completely close it and open it again in Citrix, and maybe at times, lose the changes done to a particular mapping as well. ** The UI might need to be modernized a bit, since it seems pretty old **Recommendations to others considering Informatica PowerCenter:** It's a great ETL tool with great support as well. One can try it for data migration, ETL, Data integration etc. tasks and it is quite a reliable product. **What problems is Informatica PowerCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?** We worked on Informatica PowerCenter for the creation of our ETL mappings, their respective sessions and workflows, with multiple layers like Staging, pre-processing, data integration etc. We mainly used several databases and flat files and tables for the sources and targets.
