What I like most about FME is the visual way of building workflows. I can see the whole process from the trigger to the different data processing steps, which makes it easier to understand than having everything buried in code. The Automation side is especially useful for setting up things like scheduled jobs and moving data between databases, APIs, cloud storage, and other systems. The basic workflows are not too difficult, but there is definitely a learning curve when you start using the more advanced automation features. With larger workflows that have a lot of steps and branches, it can sometimes be difficult to quickly find where an issue is coming from. What problems is FME Platform solving and how is that benefiting you? A big problem it solves for us is having to manually move and prepare data between different systems. We can create a workflow that extracts the data, cleans or transforms it, validates it, and then sends it where it needs to go. The scheduling and automation features mean we don't have to keep running these processes manually. I like how easy it is to build and manage data workflows without writing everything from scratch. I mostly use it for moving and transforming data between different systems, and the visual workflow makes things much easier to understand. I genuinely feel that this platform is extremely effective solution that can be used to transform and integrate various types of data in order to create workflows. In my opinion, I think the biggest advantage of the platform is the ability to use it to easily implement workflows without having to code manually. I really love its performance . I honestly feel that the system may require some time to learn , particularly when dealing with sophisticated transformers and complicated workflows.As workflows get increasingly complicated, managing and debugging them can also be difficult . some task related to configuration and scheduling could have been simpler, and pricing may be a point of worry for small groups. I think the FME Platform will be an appropriate tool for those companies that require reliable data transformation, integration and automization. Personally,I really appreciate the way this software interacts with multiple platforms, Apis, databases, and sources. It allows managing all these operations within one workflow without any effort.However onboarding proces is easy but it may take some time to understand. The availability of Ai and machine learning integration is a great bonus that provides additional options for automization and optimization of the data processing. For me, best part is how much data work I can handle without having to write code for every step. I can connect different sources, make changes to the data, and see the whole workflow in one place. Last year our team had pretty messy workflow for combining CAD, GIS and survey data before sending it to our project teams. FME form made this easier because i could see whole transformation visually. The Ui is what i noticed first. The workspace canvas and data inspection make it easier for me to understand what is happening even when workflow gets big. Performance has been solid for us specially when processing larger datasets. I like that we can inspect and cache parts of a workspace instead of running everything again during testing. From ROI point of view it made sense after we automated enough recurring work but the initial investment needed some justification internally. We use FME flow to automate parts of process and connect data coming from different systems so analysts aren't manually moving files every morning. These capabilities save me time by removing the need to manually move data between systems like ERP and POS before bringing it into GIS. The variety of different file formats FME can handle is very helpful in my role between a couple of teams. From working with GIS, CAD, Hydraulic Model and other water software specialists, there are lots of different file formats that I can handle/manipulate. There are some quality of life features that are unintuitive or annoying. For example, handling user parameters on partial runs, or crashing when browsing for file geodatabases. It support machine learning integration and I find it strightforward to manage security tools in my workflow while also working with data APIs. It also support GLS, which gives me flexibility ways to manage file information and the capability makes a real difference for my daily work. FME workflows has been really good for me, but as they grow, they can become difficult to maintain. That may just be my experience, through.
