"Fast Workspace Creation That Streamlines Data Analysis and Transformation"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

I can whip up a workspace in a matter of minutes to analyze, transform and output data based on a critical query that requires urgent response or I can spend quality time generating a workspace that can perform absolute wonders in the essential workflow of our data from one system to another. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

There is not a whole lot to dislike. My only complaints would be issues related to license restart after a brief hibernation mode, the odd crashes and at times slow processing speeds. There are also a few transformer tweaks that would elevate the effectiveness and capabilities in the Revit and AutoCAD arenas Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A simple review of the FME platform"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

The FME platform offers a powerful and flexible environment for data integration, transformation, and automation. One of its biggest strengths is how it handles complex data workflows across a wide range of formats and systems with impressive reliability. The visual, no-code/low-code approach makes it easier to understand and manage even advanced processes, and the extensive library of transformers saves a lot of development time, Strong documentation, an active user community, and solid enterprise support also make it easier to learn and scale, especially for organizations working with enterprise level data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

FME can feel overwhelming for new users due to its depth and the numerous number of tools available, which creates a difficult learning curve at the beginning. Licensing costs may be high for smaller teams or individual users, and performance tuning sometimes requires advanced knowledge to avoid resource heavy workflows. Additionally, while the interface is powerful, it can feel dated or complex compared to more modern, streamlined platforms, especially for users looking for quick, lightweight data tasks. "Easy, Intuitive Tool That Stays Ahead of Modern Data Integration Workflows"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

It’s easy to use and intuitive, and it’s quick to adapt to modern data integration workflows. You can tell the product stays on top of current technology, which helps ensure it remains useful over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

At times, it’s difficult to take advantage of product improvements and bug fixes when running FME Flow, especially when you can’t easily upgrade to the version that includes them. It would be helpful to have a simple bug-fix option for the engines, or some kind of patching approach, so fixes can be applied without requiring a full upgrade. "Automates Data Tasks, But Pricing Can Be a Barrier"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

I really appreciate the seamless integration FME Platform offers with cloud services and Excel right out of the box. The setup was refreshingly easy with a reliable installation wizard for FME, and I had it up and running in minutes. The quick setup for server-side components was straightforward, providing a functional base installation right away. It's great that FME acts as the cleanup crew that validates our data before it gets archived. Its ability to turn manual, repetitive chores into set-and-forget automations is unrivaled, and it boosts productivity significantly. Overall, in terms of functionality, it's a game changer. the no code environment is genuinely powerful i can set score a database sync using simple visual tools rather than writing hundreds of lines of code I also really appreciate how straightforward the initial setup is in a world where enterprise software usually takes weeks to configure I was able to get our first automated workflow running very quickly the live data view during the build process is also a delighter that makes it easy to confirm my logic is working in real Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

While the software itself is top tier, the pricing model is a recurring point of friction. It's an expensive investment, especially for smaller teams or those of us who started out as self-made developers. I've noticed that recent changes to the commercial model have made it harder for individual power users to maintain a personal license. I firmly believe the pricing should be revised to be more favorable to smaller organizations or include a more accessible home tier again to keep the community growing. "Transformative ETL Tool with Room for Admin Improvement"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

I rely heavily on the FME Platform, specifically its FME Form and FME Flow ecosystem, to build, deploy, and monitor complex data solutions. I find the automation framework within FME Flow to be the most valuable aspect. Using the desktop-based FME Form allows me to author logic, map transformers, and define data flows between disparate systems, which is super helpful for integration tasks. Once I've built the integration, I move it to FME Flow, which acts as the server-side engine handling scheduling, real-time event triggers, and automated notifications. It's effectively the orchestration layer allowing systems to communicate without constant human oversight. FME provides a high degree of customization that standard ETL tools can't match, which is great for building custom bridges that enhance system connectivity. I also appreciate the constant stream of new transformers, which means I'm rarely left without a solution for new data types or APIs. Plus, the ability to visualize data at every transformation step through feature caching is a massive time saver during the prototyping phase. Additionally, FME handles the heavy-duty data crunching and spatial transformations, integrating well with tools like Power Automate and alerting our support desk via Slack or Microsoft Teams when there are issues with critical ETL pipelines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

While the engine is powerful, the operational overhead can be frustrating. Specifically, authentication management in FME Form feels fragmented, it often feels like every web service or database connection has a slightly different, inconsistent way of handling credentials, which makes consolidating enterprise security policies a chore. On the FME Flow side, the logging and system admin tools definitely need work. Diagnosing a failed job can be like looking for a needle in a haystack because the log files are cumbersome to navigate in the web UI. Furthermore, the system administration tools create unnecessary friction when trying to set up granular user permissions. Often, FME Flow ends up isolated on a virtual machine with very little interaction with the broader IT team's monitoring systems, making it feel like a black box in the organization's infrastructure. "Streamlined Data Transformations with FME Platform"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

I am really impressed with FME Platform's intuitive ease of use and its unmatched library of supported data types. The drag and drop interface, consistent across different data types like BIM models, point clouds, or simple CSVs, makes it very visual and accessible at every step of the process. There is a great array of readers and writers available out of the box, which means I often don't have to worry about whether a file format is supported because FME usually has a built-in transformer ready to handle it. The initial setup was remarkably painless, with a self-contained and stable installer that required no manual configuration of dependencies, allowing me to publish my first workspace and run a test job in under an hour. I also appreciate the implementation velocity that FME offers because it helps deliver functional ETL pipelines quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

If I had to find a fault, it would be in the automation section of FME Flow. While it's powerful, it can feel a little quirky compared to the sleekness of the desktop workbench. Setting up complex event-driven triggers sometimes requires a bit of trial and error to get the logic exactly right, and the way it handles refresh parameters can occasionally be counterintuitive. I've also noticed that the web interface for managing these automations can get a bit slow once you have a high volume of active jobs, making it slightly more cumbersome to navigate than I'd like during a high pressure troubleshooting session. "Efficient GIS Tool with Great Automation, Needs Viewer Fixes"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

I appreciate the ease of use and the efficiency of the FME Platform. I like the ability to cache each transformer, which makes debugging easier. The platform's custom transformers are great, especially the loop function that allows for tasks like buffering points until they reach a desired size. I find the data inspector really useful for viewing data and debugging, especially when trying to work out an issue with my output. I also enjoy using FME Platform to automate workflows, like utilizing .bat files to run FME automatically, call APIs, and generate summary emails. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

Sometimes the geospatial data viewer can be glitchy, not displaying data, or laggy. Also, when trying to just run to feature, it doesn’t accurately run all transformers before. Sometimes when trying to do a visual preview and view my 2D data, it won’t load at all - maybe this is because I have too much data. If I run my workspace and it hasn’t worked as intended (e.g., no features made it to the end), then if I want to try and re-run specific sections, sometimes it doesn’t pull through all of the data and tries to just run from an empty transformer. "Format Transformation and Automation at Top Level"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

The intuitive user interface of FME is great, along with the ability to check the data at every step. The platform offers an incredible amount of formats for transformations and a huge toolbox for editing data. It is ideal for modeling and automating processes. The logging is phenomenal, and you can build solutions quickly that also work fast. The platform can be easily scaled, and there is an active community and a fantastic support group. Additionally, it's wonderful that FME Form is super easy to install, and the Quick Setup of FME Flow establishes a good and working base installation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

The intuitive user interface might also be the biggest pitfall. Building is so easy, so automatic that you quickly fall into the trap of copy-paste, and copy-paste again. This ultimately leads to unmanageable, cluttered workspaces. Few people can handle this well, and this is a challenge that FME will have to address in the future. The commercial model has recently changed, and actually makes it impossible for self-made developers without profit motives to use FME anymore. I would like to see the old, free HOME licenses return. It takes a few years to master reading the logging and building manageable workspaces. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Automation with Seamless Service Deployment"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

I love using FME Platform for all kinds of data automations, from basic email analysis to complex 3D operations. The platform is a great abstraction, allowing me to aggregate and update libraries without needing to code and maintain the code. I appreciate the intuitive data pipeline creation with live data view, making it easy to publish as a service without security or scalability concerns. The ability to visualize dynamically during pipeline building and have the script production-ready without needing adaptations is fantastic. Publishing as a webservice is intuitive and coherent. I also integrate FME Platform with my Python IDE and databases like DuckDB, where dynamic query generation is a breeze. I value the flexibility of calling other tools through HTTP requests, JDBC, ODBC, or command lines. The new data virtualization part is something I like as well. Plus, the initial setup is very simple; setting up a cloud instance in just five minutes is impressive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

Sometimes I can get lost in the number of available transformers and formats. The AI help is great, but I'd like to call a local AI engine. I also wish it were easier to generate or adapt the final script with generative AI. Lastly, the data visualization part lacks interactive dashboards for navigating data, especially for identifying outliers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust ETL Solutions with Some Workflow Hurdles"
What do you like best about FME Platform?

I appreciate the ease of use of the FME Platform and the update process that keeps it up to date. The Form tool allows for easy-to-use transformers and data flow, and the Flow platform provides scheduling and notifications. Form is the desktop tool I use to build integrations, and Flow is the server tool that handles the scheduling and allows the built solutions to run without supervision. Leveraging FME provides more functionality and customization for integrating systems into a tech stack. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FME Platform?

The desktop tool needs work on authentication with services or consolidating the way systems can authenticate. With Flow, it needs improvements in logging, notifications, system admin tools, and integration with organizations. The way to view log files needs work when diagnosing problems. Notifications for either workspace related notifications or system notifications need enhancements. The system admin tools create more overhead when trying to restrict user permissions appropriately, and adding FME Flow into an organization usually keeps it in a VM with little interactions with the systems or IT team.
