"Check Point Application Control - Review GW"
What do you like best about Check Point Application Control?

What I like best about Check Point Application Control is how it gives me real visibility and control over what’s happening on the network.

It’s not just about blocking apps—it’s about understanding usage patterns, setting smart policies, and keeping things secure without slowing people down. Being able to manage thousands of applications with granular rules makes a big difference, especially when you’re trying to balance productivity with protection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Check Point Application Control?

Sometimes Check Point Application Control can feel a bit too complex for simple tasks. Setting up granular rules takes time, and figuring out app categories isn’t always straightforward. It works well, but I wish it were a little more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

""A Practical Solution for Application Oversight"
What do you like best about Check Point Application Control?

Check Point Application Control gives us smart visibility into app usage and lets us set flexible rules, helping boost security without slowing down productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Check Point Application Control?

Managing detailed policies in Check Point Application Control can take time, especially in complex environments with many apps and users. It also sometimes misclassifies applications due to outdated categories, which means we have to step in manually. A smarter, more intuitive way to build and adjust policies would make things easier and more accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective Solution for Application Usage Control""
What do you like best about Check Point Application Control?

What I appreciate most about Check Point Application Control is the detailed visibility and control it provides over network applications and user activities. It enables the enforcement of precise policies, allowing me to block or restrict potentially risky applications while still permitting essential business traffic, all without hindering productivity. Its integration with Check Point's security management platform offers centralized oversight, comprehensive reporting, and real-time threat prevention, which together make it a powerful solution for maintaining a secure and compliant network environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Check Point Application Control?

One aspect I find challenging with Check Point Application Control is that setting up the initial policy can be rather complex and takes considerable time, particularly in larger or more varied network environments. Maintaining the accuracy of some application signatures often means they need to be updated frequently, and fine-tuning policies to minimize false positives requires continuous effort. Furthermore, I think the user interface could be more user-friendly, as a more intuitive design would help simplify policy management for administrators who have less experience. "Powerful control over apps, but requires tuning"
What do you like best about Check Point Application Control?

Application Control makes it easy to block, allow, or log thousands of known apps and services—right from the rulebase. The integration with URL Filtering gives us precise control over both web categories and specific app functions (like blocking Zoom file sharing but allowing meetings). Reporting in SmartEvent shows usage trends, which helps us justify controls to management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Check Point Application Control?

Some apps are hard to match reliably without HTTPS inspection, and newly emerging apps can take time to get added to the database. False positives can occur with custom business tools unless we add exclusions. Also, performance can take a hit on smaller gateways if too many categories are active at once.
