Some of the best features Esper MDM has:
-Custom Web App
This feature is unique. When OS is loaded it opens a website in a full-screen encapsulated web view, where none of browser interface elements are visible. We were unable to find such a feature on any other MDMs on the market.
-Seamless device provisioning
ESPER provides multiple ways of device provisioning. First, you create a provisioning template and then QR code is generated. You switch on the factory reset tablet, scan the code and the device starts to get configured seamlessly. Internet connection is required.
-Mobile device screen preview
It is very important when a support engineer has the capability to view the device screen. It prevents common misinterpretations from the side of non-professional users. Especially, if the device has many features disabled it is also hard for the user to perform certain actions. Our case was exactly such.
-Enable/Disable apps/OS components
This is a very useful feature, that adds the capabilities to install, uninstall, enable, disable and even give/revoke access for each app installed on the device to particular OS interfaces, like Camera, Microphone, Location.
-User and device bulk management
-Comfortable notification trigger setup interface Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes, when entered inside device configuration, device location and Apps was lagging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easily able to manage all of our tablets and mobile devices around the state from anywhere and at any time. The Esper command console is easy to use and its also very easy to set devices up with Esper. We use the Kiosk mode on some of the devices that run Esper and it is very easy for our employees to use and navigate and its even easier for me to change what i want the employees to see while in kiosk mode. Being able to troubleshoot from afar and remote view has come in handy along with being able to push remote updates for applications on the devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing that i dislike is that Esper does not work with Apple products, hopefully some day they will so we can have all of our devices on one platform. I really enjoy using esper and the low cost but having to run to different MDM products can be a hassle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like most the functionality and documentation. it is very easy to use. With a few stuff you need to get the terms right. After all I was just searching for a App that makes a bulletproof kiosk mode. I only found it in a free version in Esper.
The documentation is very good. You can nearly find everything in there. It is written in a user friendly way, so that a lot of questions can be googled. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A few terms are not intuitiv for beginners. But after a short time, you know yourself around.
My browser autofill does not detect the server during login as username.
I didn't find the opportunity to update a template, until I found out about the functionality and purpose of Compliance policies. This is one of the cases, where I first had to learn what compliance policies are. After I found out, it is a powerful tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I saw Esper when I was searching for an affordable MDM to use in deploying and managing my departmental Android Tablets.
Esper is one of the easiest MDM I tried and I am very shocked at its effectiveness.
I have less than 100 devices and hence I could use Esper's free license. Who could have thought an MDM so powerful and effective could also be free.
Thank you Esper for your generosity.
I will gladly recommend Esper to any business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Remote Desktop is not currently compatible with Android Tablet.
Also, I could not use Teamviewer because it could not get the right permission and I wish Esper can look into this Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Esper is free to 100 devices so it helps a lot to show how we can gain a lot of time using a MDM without any costs at the beginning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Esper is only available for professionnals. You will need a professional email to register.
I would like to use it for my family but I can't. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is my first time using an MDM solution and it's been incredibly helpful having a really responsive support contact who has helped me through a number of issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is an early stage product and changing rapidly, but there are a few UX quirks eg. not persisisting the properties of devices you want to see in a list view. We also use iOS devices and need a separate solution for them - would be great to get iOS support one day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Customer Support - The amount of enthusiasm from the Esper support team has been amazing. They have built custom software to fit our ever growing needs. When ever there has been an issue, Esper has escalated the process quickly to solve our problems on a strict deadline. I also appreciate the Esper UI which is much more intuitive than the other solutions used in the past. We use the QR code provisioning method most often. This saves loads of time because we are able to set a pre-defined WIFI SSID and password. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Provisioning certain devices can be a nightmare. Our company currently deploys three different models of Samsung devices that use three different OS versions and have different ABIs (Application Binary Interface). Due to our different hardware profiles we are constantly "fishing" for APKs. This process is very time consuming. I feel as though app installation should be as easy as going to the google play store and downloading an app. If the Google Play Store can handle all of the different android devices on the market today then Esper should be able to as well. The setup was a walk in the park, you just start the tablet, use the android for work and everything gets installed automatically. Never had any issues.
The dashboard gives me all the tools I need to quickly monitor and fix problems.
The monitoring system gives the ability to alert us when there are any issues with the tablets.
The apps get installed automatically. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At some point there was a issue with Samsung Knox. It was blocking all our devices and we had to wipe them all.
Up to date tablets probably don't see this issue.
Firefox support would be nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Esper's user interface is incredibly user-friendly, intuitive, and powerful. Despite being new to the space, it's been easy to understand. They're customer service is also responsive and beyond helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Google Play software updates were a bit finicky from time to time, but their team was on top of issues and helpful in getting us through any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to setup, Permissions for settings, apps, web console UI Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Policies - i would love to see policies per groups, not devices, policies should apply automaticaly when new device is added to group, policies should be editable and after editing and saving changes new settings should apply automaticaly.
Whitelisting and blacklisting preinstalled apps is very difficult, because i don't know what apps are preinstalled, for example to allow sms app or call app specific to manufacturer. Would be nice to have list of internal apps with app names and package names. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to use Esper with a generous number of devices without any kind of paid subscription is a huge plus for our basic use case.
During the testing phase Esper has received constant updates and improvements. The active development is positive and will hopefully continue.
The interface is intuitive and everything is displayed clearly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As is perhaps to be expected with a relatively new system, there have been a few issues during the initial setup and deployment phases.
1. Shortly before deployment, the link to Managed Google Play stopped working, requiring all devices to be provisioned again.
2. After the above issue, some apps that were approved through Managed Google Play still show up even after having their approval revoked.
3. Remote control is not working with the Samsung tablets we have. It is possible to view the screen remotely, but not control the device. This was working during part of our testing phase. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Of all the MDM DevOps solutions tested, Esper was the most feature-rich and was able to fit the needs of our growing startup the best. Flexible pricing with kind salespeople and support staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you look at their release notes, you'll know that Esper is improving every week. They don't have a solution to every single one of our deployment problems yet, but they are very open to feature requests according to our real-time business needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
