Instead of piecing together information across multiple sources, I can get a strong initial picture in one place and identify areas I want to explore further in the conversation. What do you dislike about Similarweb? ’m still relatively new to Similarweb, so I haven’t experienced many significant downsides yet. The UI is strong and I’ve found the platform intuitive to navigate. The biggest consideration for me is remembering that some of the traffic, audience and competitive data is directional rather than exact. I primarily use Similarweb to prepare for initial discovery calls, so the data is extremely valuable for identifying trends, competitive positioning and areas I want to explore with a potential client. I view it as a way to develop better hypotheses and ask smarter questions rather than treating every data point as absolute. Similarweb helps me solve several challenges around prospect research and new business development. I use it to quickly understand a potential client’s business, digital footprint, competitive landscape, traffic trends and customer behavior before an initial discovery call. It saves significant time compared with pulling information from multiple sources and helps surface themes or opportunities that may not otherwise be obvious. More importantly, the data helps me develop a stronger point of view before speaking with a potential client. I can identify trends, benchmark against competitors and use those insights to ask better discovery questions rather than starting the conversation from scratch. I use Market Analysis to compare direction, relative size, growth, and channel mix, rather than treating any single traffic estimate as absolute truth. If a competitor grows for three consecutive months, gains share within the category, and becomes less dependent on branded search, that’s enough for me to investigate further—even if the numbers will never match its internal analytics exactly. In Website Performance, we look at visits, unique visitors, visit duration, pages per visit, bounce rate, and how those metrics trend over time. Reading these metrics in isolation often creates more confidence than understanding. A competitor can increase traffic while engagement deteriorates, or lose overall volume while sending a larger share of users to pages with stronger commercial intent. I usually start with the movement, then break it down by channel, page, geography, and search behavior to understand what’s actually driving it. From a marketing perspective, the value isn’t in collecting another competitive chart; it’s in using the evidence to make better decisions about markets, channel mix, content priorities, emerging competitors, or budgets that were previously being defended with little more than instinct. The estimates tend to be more dependable for established domains with meaningful traffic than for smaller, newer, or highly specialized sites. We saw this clearly while researching regional providers: several domains showed very little activity or had insufficient data, even though our sales team and their local presence indicated they were doing real business. A budget review was already well underway when the performance team proposed increasing paid search spend because two competitors appeared to be gaining visibility while our own campaigns had been losing efficiency. We created a group in Competitive Analysis, compared Traffic and Engagement, and opened Marketing Channels to separate the growth by source. One competitor had genuinely increased paid search, but the second was growing mainly through referrals and a content section we had never included in our regular benchmark. We used Search Intelligence to review paid keywords, Top Pages to identify the landing pages receiving the growth, and Website Segments to isolate the part of the site that competed directly with our offer. The first segment gave us a misleading decline because the competitor had changed several URLs and our rules no longer covered the full section. We corrected the segment before presenting the findings instead of building a strategy around a measurement error. Rather than increasing the entire budget, we strengthened a smaller set of high-intent terms, developed a partnership aimed at the referral channel, and added two content themes to the roadmap. It helped us separate a real market shift from our first interpretation and gave marketing, performance, and leadership enough shared evidence to choose something more disciplined than simply spending more. I have been using Similarweb to conduct competitor research, and it's been the go to tool for our company for the past 3 years. If you have a list of competitors or are trying to find specific competitors in your niche you can find them under the Market Analysis tab. The UX is easy to navigate and the support was top-notch when we set up the platform. The pricing is the dislike, while I understand the value, it is very expensive and a lite version for SMBs would be excellent. It's really easy to use, and is consistently improving. It uses GA data where possible, and the support we had from our customer success manager was really useful - I'd say "above and beyond". Similarweb estimates traffic data which immediately raises questions among leadership when none of the data within Similarweb can be verified. App analysis on Android doesn`t have full coverage on downloads for specific GEOs on no-Tier 1 countries in the improved APP analysis tool. We are tracking competitors closely and using SimilarWeb data as a reference for customers regarding our leadership. Traffic sources are specifically an important data whene analyzing competitors, and there is no other tool in the market providing this information from any site in the market as Similarweb does. I find Similarweb super easy to use and incredibly intuitive. I can quickly get the data I need, which is incredibly helpful before meetings with brands to understand their performance. I really value the international traffic feature and the lead generator tool, as they are crucial for identifying UK brands selling internationally. The interface and the AI tools also enhance my ability to retrieve data quickly. It's great for collaboration, as my team and I can easily discuss opportunities across accounts.
