To begin with, it simply works. Zero learning curve, just install and it tracks in the background. Saves me huge mental effort and time of trying to track back what I've done across multiple projects to enter manually into previous apps I used. I can go back weeks later and see exactly what files I was working on and assign to projects easily. Although because it's so easy, I do it quickly rather than putting it off! It's also earned me way more than it's cost – because I can accurately bill rather than underplaying the time I've spent on a project. It also shows me how productive I've been or, just as often, how unproductive! I've never really bothered with productivity apps because the learning curve has been too much effort versus the potential gain – but this is one of the very few I've adopted, effortlessly, and so become a bit of an evangelist for. Timely's support have also been awesome whenever I've emailed queries about how something works – they'll proactively keen coming back to me with further info and updates. Only downsides are a couple of tiny feature gaps due to technical challenges of tracking different apps – most notably registering you're still on a meeting when you're sharing screen (in which instance it just tracks the application you're showing) – although they're recently released a Teams integration in response to this.
