With Toggl, I was able to track my time spent on client work by project/task. Basic reporting on the free plan enabled to me see just how much time was being spent on each client, project, and task. Toggl is easy to use and integrates with popular SaaS products to make it easy to track time without having to log in to multiple platforms. Perhaps my favorite feature is the one-click time-tracking that allows you to track time with one click regardless of the platform with real-time data sync. **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** As with any time tracking solution, compliance is the most challenging part. While Toggl has added a lot of features to help, such as one-click time-tracking, and autotracking, features such as email reminders and the ability to track time on behalf of team members require an upgrade to the Premium level of service that can be costly depending on the number of team members using Toggl. With that said, the more you pay, the more features you get access to. If you are able to fully utilize all the features, it is definitely worth the investment. **Recommendations to others considering Toggl Track:** Toggl has a free plan for up to 5 users that included basic functionality. Updates are really quick to be done and the report and export views are on spot. Besides, the contact with the development community from Toggl is amazing - their support is pretty quick, when system goes down (which is almost never) the communication is instantaneous through Twitter and blog. **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** Nothing special. Back then, I was under a lot of pressure to accomplish a massive amount of work in parallel. Toggl helped me to identify what tasks where consuming most of my time and how much of context switch I had. A few years later, I was asked to also log my time in Jira. With a few tweaks I was able to report my time I had in Toggl directly in Jira, bypassing all the hurdles of the time tracking we have on the latter. ### 3. Setup of projects and clients etc. si also easy and intuitive. I really appreciate Toggl's user-friendly interface. Statistics of total time I spent on projects during time are also fine. You can also create a workspace and work (track) together with your colleagues. **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** Some customisation will be fine, like color scheme, background etc. Although Toggl, as I said before, is very user-friendly, some customisation would be nice, for example dark mode, ability to set font (type, size, boldness) , use more color and / or icons to highlight projects. **Recommendations to others considering Toggl Track:** Don't forget to name and use projects feature, so you can have better overview of what you work on. If you forget to track time in auto mode, don't worry, there is also manual mode, so you can set it manually and have complete entries. This helps me know what topic or subject should I prioritize most. Toggl also makes me feel rewarded because at the end of every week I could see the total time of all my work displayed on the top bar which encourages me to work harder and be more productive the next week. **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** Although Toggl is a great app, I think it lacks customization for the user. It would be a lot better if Toggl could change the background or at more color to the taskbar. By creating personalization features, it would make the user more comfortable using it. **Recommendations to others considering Toggl Track:** If you are a high-school student like I am, use the projects as what subject you are taking and label them the things you are able to start working on before hitting the timer. If you forgot to record the time, don't worry, just go the top right corner of Toggl and set it to be manual mode then you can put in the time you missed. **What problems is Toggl Track solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main benefit from using Toggl is that it enables me to keep a steady pace doing my work and balance the work out orderly. When I first started using Toggl, I thought I need a timer that could keep track of specific subjects and works so that I can know how much more should I put my time into the subject. As I began exploring the features of Toggl, I find that it has much more than I anticipated. Toggl was able to make a time-distribution bar that shows all my work time of the week which is very helpful for me to know what to prioritize next. ### 30. I've been using the app for around 3 years now, and for my purposes it's been more than enough. If I had to say one downside I've experienced, it's just that it was a bit difficult to see reports the way I wanted, but after playing a bit with it I got the info I needed. **Recommendations to others considering Toggl Track:** If you're looking for an easy to use application to track your hours (or your team's), also free of charge, then Toggle is your app. Even though I haven't tried, it has lots of extra features like hours management, billing calculations, team management, etc. For freelancers willing to track their work it's a really useful app. **What problems is Toggl Track solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm a freelancer, and I've been using Toggle the past years to track how many hours I'm spending in each of my projects. At the end of the week I am satisfied that I've used at least the agreed hours with each customer, without doing major overruns. I find it very beneficial to be able to synchronize with the email client I use (Outlook) and also with the Todoist task tool. It has helped me understand when I make mistakes with budgets by having an exact measurement of the time dedicated to each client/project. I find it very cool to have the mini timer to easily monitor work time. I would like it to be able to be added to the Windows taskbar so it doesn't interfere with some windows. **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** I don't like that it's not available in Spanish, nor do I like that the mini timer must always stay on the desktop. It's so much easier to keep tabs of where you are spending your time. You can also output nice PDF reports which show what you have done with the time. I like that also integrates with many other apps I use (Trello / Asana etc.) **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** One small thins. Despite Toggl being very friendly on background colors. I would love to have a "native" dark theme. I work on front of the screen for most of my day and have to use third party google chrome extensions to darken the screen but not always I find them comfortable to the eye ... or some of them just stop working...or just invert colors etc. I believe that all the apps aimed to productivity should have this option as it is a great thing for us not to have this constant white screen in front of us. **What problems is Toggl Track solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am keeping track of my daily works and download a monthly statement to show to my clients. The benefit of using Toggl is that I can spend 30 seconds to add a title and a small description to each task and have a great way to collect all that data once I have to show how I have used my time. Toggl also helps me to understand patterns, (for instance how long it takes me to do a specific job) and review my work methods in order to be faster in case I notice that I am not doing as I should. Finally I definitely like it because after a while using it you memorize the time of execution of the tasks and know exactly what is the time required for a project that my encompass a multitude of tasks. ### 35. In the real world task switching frequently is just the reality, Toggl allows me to quickly record what I am doing in an easy to use way. Its also easy to adjust time entries whenever you realise that you forgot to switch tasks. Reporting is useful to aid the completion of timesheets. **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** Logging in is not possible for me in the browser or desktop app. due to corporate firewall restrictions. Although I can get to the login page, it will not login and therefore I use the mobile app when not at home. In the reporting it would be nice if you could see a week, drill down into a day by clicking on the bar and then navigate to the next day with a single click. This would make filling in my timesheet even easier. Also when you are not sure what an entry was about and want to see the details, again drilling down with a single click and then to be able to go back to the summary level with a single click would be great. **What problems is Toggl Track solving and how is that benefiting you?** It helps me track what I spend my time working on so that I can record this in our Enterprise MS Project system. ### 36. I like its accessibility from any device at any time (I'm using browser plugin iOS app, website). It's so comfortable to start a timer really quickly. Or continue on a previous time entry. Every now and then I do a retrospective on where my working time goes and tag filters under reports help me to figure out where to improve. **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** When you start typing en existing entry name into "What you have done?" input and click on an auto suggested entry, it doesn't prefill tags. It only prefills are project and an entry name, but not tasks. It also hace a very nice categorisation for the different projects and customers. The free tier would be enough for many many companies. Reporting is a bit limited, but you can improve it so far by purchasing the paid features, however the data can be exported to CSV so you can run your own analytics user external tools. **What do you dislike about Toggl Track?** Nothing really, the team has helped us many times and the documentation is thorough, perhaps the pricing model could be more modular, we would opt to some of the paid features but you can only purchase the whole package and it is too pricy for the impact it would actually cause in our workflow. **Recommendations to others considering Toggl Track:** Start slow with tags and use descriptions for annotations. Syncing with other apps/services works, but it doesn't remember the categorisation/project. Then once you get the hang of it, try using it with Todoist to see how you like it. Our company used Tempo which is a part of JIRA so I personally use Toggl as my go to during my shift then I key in all the details from Toggle to Tempo. I find Toggl is way better to track the live on-going flow during the shift (better than Tempo).
