“Our main tool as UX/UI designer”
What do you like best?

The nested symbols are very powerfull, from basic icons to complexe components. It’s also useful to simulate atomic design. Personnally, I use this feature a lot with recurring components, such as the nav for instance. Especially used in a design system, you can save a lot of time.

There are plugins to help you collaborate with colleagues on the same project or export specifications for the dev team if you client won’t allow to use any cloud solution. that being said « sketch.cloud » is really helpful to share your mock-ups with the client and the dev team: they can navigate between the mock-ups, test your prototype and see all the required specifications for a perfect development.

Of course, you will find plugins to create very powerfull prototypes and submit them to user tests. If a basic prototype is sufficient, Sketch provides all you need to demonstrate or test a user journey.

The approach by plugins allow you to only install what you need, in order to gain beter performances and possibilities.

At last but not least, Sketch’s developers listen their users and the app is constantly evolving to help design fester and better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Large projects require a powerful Mac... and only a Mac, as sketch is not available on Windows. Also, you may need to limite your RAM use with other apps if you want to open several (big) Sketch projects to reuse some previous designs.

You may not be able to open old projects with an updated version of Sketch and you might have to install an older version of Sketch, in order to « convert » it to the new format.

Using bitmaps will increase your file size and decrease performances. It would be nice if we could use « dynamic links » to images in a specific folder for instance, as Adobe use to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Just look for tutorials and communities: there are a lot of people sharing insights and helping each other. It will help you power up and become an expert about Sketch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Most of our clients already having a design system made it available on Sketch, so you can begin a new projet very quickly. A lot of plugins are available on Sketch to help you achieve a lot of complexe tasks within few clicks.

Sketch provides powerful solutions to prototype and gain time. You can easily do the UX and UI simultaneously, export, share and iterate.

Before Sketch, it was a complex and long task to modify an icon on a large projet . With nested symbols and design systems, you can apply the modification on all your artboards and projects within few clicks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“The Poor Mans Visio....In a good way”
What do you like best?

I really like that I can use Draw.IO in the same ways that Visio can be used and the files can be shared and used across teams. In addition to being used on the web or as a desktop application, it integrates very well with visual studio code. That is, in my opinion, the best way to use it on development teams. There is also the feature to use it to prototype an application and have it automatically jump to other sections when clicked. It is a very versatile application. I also like how easy it is to use all of the different objects and icons without having to download them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There aren't many issues with the software. One of the problems that I have experienced would be that since it is built off of a progressive web application loading files from the browser has occasionally failed to load. This has been a very small and infrequent occurrence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I think that other using Draw.IO should be in for a treat. It allows for Visio like things but in a free open-source feeling way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Draw.IO allows for many types of technical documentation and prototyping to be completed. Creating UML Diagrams, Flow charts, or a web application prototype are all things that can be accomplished with this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Awesome and super easy drawing app even for someone without artistic skills”
What do you like best?

Interface is simple

Loads of brushes

All necessary effects

Loads of textures

Unlimited colors

Perpetual license

Loads of tutorials and examples

Very intuitive interface

Can export in any format Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The selection tool is little cumbersome to use

There is no brush that is good for filling colors. There is always some gap.

There is no fill option

And often even the fill color does not fill the edges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you like the traditional paper and pencil style, then there is nothing better than Procreate. Go for it.

Even if you don't know drawing, but have some imagination, you can do well. There is plenty of help while drawing and expressing your imagination.

You can do storyboard within procreate on a layer and then draw your actual thing on top of that layer

The alpha lock, clipping mask and masks work great and are excellent to use.

You need an apple pencil - from any generation for sure to comfortably use procreate.

The canvas size and the number of layers depends on the resolution and RAM of your iPAD.

I strongly recommend Procreate and it is very affordable currently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have drawn loads of props and characters and I animate them. I specialize in creating animated books from children books. Procreate is a tool that I go to often to get the best textures and realistic effects.

I have drawn several night sky elements, desert elements, animals, fishes, characters all with ease. The shades and textures come out nice and colorful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Using Artrage as an Animator/ Illustrator”
What do you like best?

I've always loved Artrage's incredibly simple and accessible user interface - you can literally just get painting straight away, so it's ideal for somebody who rarely uses graphics or painting software and just wants to create digital art quickly and for fun. And for those who do frequently use digital painting software, Artrage's powerful tools look so much like traditional media that I'm still always impressed every time I do a drawing or painting at just how good it looks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I dislike very little about the software - occasionally I have trouble exporting images if the canvas is too large, and also it's obviously not as advanged as something like Photoshop in the editing and effects department. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It's an absolute must try - so inexpensive and it just looks so outstanding! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

“Good tool for diagraming and workflows”
What do you like best?

It is a must-have tool if you work in networking, almost all big organizations have a Visio Diagram with the network connections and interactions between departments with the downside that the diagram is as good as the knowledge that engineer making it has about Visio but even badly made diagrams have good enough information to be able to understand the network even if they lack layers. “Creatly is a very useful medium in making my school works & this is my favorite among the others.”
What do you like best?

Ability to choose between customized layouts & a uniform layout. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

One thing that really slowed my work in using creatly is that when I put too much figures & texts in my concept map, the website starts to slow down & it reached to the point where I need to refresh it to somehow bring back the fast performance. In addition, the lines do not stick directly to the shapes & needs constant replacement thus I find it bothersome & waste of time because of a minor flaw that keeps me from finishing my work early. Nonetheless, I still constantly use this website because it outnumbered the good things I like rather than the bad thinfgs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It is not really what I dislike, but more on what I want to see coming on Affinity Designer, converting image to vector. It would really be helpful to have it inside Affinity Designer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use Affinity Designer on my logo design works, vector illustrations, icon design, web/ui design and other digital artworks and print design. Even though it doesn't have many more tools/functionalities like the counterpart from Adobe, I like that it is very easy to use, easy enough that even new user can adopt to it in no time. “Lots of great features!”
What do you like best?

Under the Site Map tool, I like how we can outline the content of the sections of a page. In the absence of a more sophisticated commenting tool I like that we can export an image of the site map or even better generate a PDF that has the copy and the site map. We can then send it to a customer for them to pinpoint specific edits for us to make and also save it to our files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I wish there was a way to allow a customer to comment directly on the Site map that was shared with them. The Site Map process takes some time to get used to. I am still learning about what is possible with this program, but I wish there was an easier way to indicate where a call-to-action button is on the page and indicate where it would lead to when clicked. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

“very good but not enough”
What do you like best?

It's a very interesting application, but in my opinion it's still green. There a lot of interesting solution, the aquarelle brushes and oil are very nice - but you'll have to use with them some time to start drawing as you want. The interface is very good and intuitive - at this point they are very OK. interacting with paper texture is also a very good option they add.

Overall it's a very nice app to draw in, I think if they will fix the issues with vector brushes i'll start to use it much more, much more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Vector brushes have end errors, like little artifact on the end of the line - that a soft issue and i think they will resolve it soon - but for me that's a problem, because brushes are very good, i would ude that app much more if not that.

It not supported Nvidia Quadro video cards - that is on my base laptop (it is touch and pen support - i work in Photoshop on it) - only on my iPad pro ... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

it recreate the best realistic brush effects like oil and aquarelle - when i need a realist fast result i prefer to do that in Fresco vs doing that on paper.

IN fresco we start to draw direct in vector (illustrator it is not very advance in drawing) and that give us much better result raver that vectoring the procreate file - it is about small details - but the small details make a very big difference in preparing a landscape for a wine label for example. “Excellent open source image editor!”
What do you like best?

Krita is an excellent image editor and is very useful for preparing the images for our posts. It is straightforward to use, really intuitive, and its features and tools offer all the options we could ever need.

Also, Krita allows us to customize the entire interface so that I can put my favorite tools in an accessible place. It has many easily configurable options, even with the right-click, which helps save time in editing.

Furthermore, it is quite light software, so I can edit images without experiencing lag, and being compatible with practically any format, I can export my work as I need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It is an open-source program, which implies that anyone can use it for free, but this has a negative part, and that is that it continually has updates that can bring usability problems (although it is not frequent).

On the other hand, although it has many functions and tools, some are still missing, such as the draft funds, but someday they will include it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you need to make image edits but cannot pay for other programs' licenses, Krita is an excellent option. When you use it, you will notice that it has many tools that will allow you to edit any image like a professional, easily and quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is a great editor that allows us to make the designs we need, and we can also export the final art in any format without problems. It is an application simple to use, flexible, intuitive, and quite powerful when it comes to editing. So I always recommend it to my contacts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
