What do you like best about Sympa?

I think Sympa has a user-friendly system with robust functionalities that centralizes key HR processes, which is really good for reducing manual work. The analytical part and the reports are easy to use and customizable, which is great for managers' needs. I also like how I can customize both features within the system without requiring any coding tools. The integration part, especially building APIs, it's easy to use following wizards or ready made templates. Sympa continuously evolves with regular improvements and frequent releases, providing what we need. I love the excellent response and quick follow-ups from the support team, ensuring customer satisfaction. The system enhances efficiency and transparency, and I recommend it. What do you dislike about Sympa?

What do you like best about Sympa?

Sympa is a flexible system that allows us to support both our global needs and our different local ones. The system is fairly easy to administer, and you can work quite independently without having to reach out to support. What do you dislike about Sympa?

What do you like best about Sympa?

Easy to administer from a backend perspective: The admin dashboard is intuitive and well-structured, making tasks like user management, permission settings, and reporting straightforward and quick to handle without unnecessary steps.

Reporting and analytics are not sufficiently self-serve

What do you like best about Sympa?

One of the stronger aspects of Sympa is its flexibility when it comes to structuring employee data and adapting the system to different organizational setups. It allows for a relatively high level of customization in terms of fields, workflows, and permissions.

It can also serve as a centralized source of truth for HR data, particularly in more complex organizations with multiple entities or reporting lines.

What do you dislike about Sympa?

There are several areas where Sympa falls short, particularly from an admin and day-to-day usability perspective.

The overall UX is not very intuitive, and it can be difficult to get a clear overview of tasks and workflows. It’s often unclear where in a process something is located, and navigating between different parts of the system requires too many steps.

The backend for administrators is especially challenging. Many features are spread out across different sections (for example notifications), instead of being centralized, which makes it time-consuming to manage and maintain the system efficiently.

Reporting is another weak point. There is a lack of flexible and reliable reporting options, including the ability to easily track changes over time. Some data, such as FTE, can also be difficult to trust in historical reporting scenarios.

Additionally, the system lacks self-service capabilities for bulk updates, meaning organizations often need external support for changes that should be manageable internally.

What do you like best about Sympa?

The only positive thing about Sympa is their fast response on their support portal, which I must have clocked in several hours chatting with... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sympa?

It is hard to comprehend how unintuitive Sympa is to use. I am no stranger to IT-systems but continuously confronted with issues that are absolutely impossible to trouble shoot. Being a Sympa Admin doesn't mean understanding the system, but rather, remembering sequences of unintuitive clicks and weird and unneccesarry terms. This makes the Sympa admin course a complete waste of time - that is maybe also why the course teacher seems a bit lost... that being if they remember to show up for the scheduled online course in the first place. You cannot make sense of anything, you just need to use the system enough to slowly start REMEMBERING what works and what doesn't. When something doesn't work or causes issues, there are rarely any message indicating an issue. If there is a message it is rarely of ANY use. This became aparent to me, when I had to teach a colleague how to administrate the system. You pretty much need one employee to be dedicated to the system - if you distribute tasks between colleagues, you will all forget how to administrate the system. This also makes you extremely dependant on that one colleague.

Luckily I was not the one deciding on Sympa. However, a big reason for chosing Sympa was for their pre-built integrations. We purchased a few of them from the beginning. One of them took a few months to get up and running. The Sympa consultants pretty much gave up, so i had to solve it myself. Another integration took even longer - i am not even sure if we ever completed it - it turned out to be of aboslutely no use at all. During this process Sympa had some layoffs which left us completely forgotten.

I also managed to find some flaws in the system. I presented this to sympa with a wish to have it fixed and an expectation that they would be pleased with my findings. Turned out they wanted us to pay for a consultant to fix the flaw. I feel truly sorry for the customer service employees at Sympa. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Sympa?

I love how I can easily find all our HR document and onboarding information in one place. I like that the portal has been customized for our staff and our processes and does not seem "out of the box." We can set our goals, track our PDP, and quickly adjust as needed.
