Otter.ai Pricing Overview

I like the summary page with the checklist of action items that you can tick off in the browser. The breakdown of roles, needs, timelines, sentiments, pain points and objections is a very helpful breakdown of the discussion. The screenshots are also great for recapping what is viewed on a shared screen. Otter is easy to implement, sign up is quick and it starts working right away. I use it for every meeting I have unless requested by participants and I can send the summaries automatically to different Slack channels based on who was in the meeting, etc. Integrating with Slack was also quite simple to do which is always great. I liked the idea of it. Until I realized how distracting it was to have a 1:1 but there was this other thing taking up space on the screen in Google Meet. I figured I could get most of the value from Gemini. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I tried to delete my account after I learned that several people in my company, who were part of a large meeting I was an attendee of, were "invited by me" to join Otter.ai. I did no such thing, but many people believed that I had proactively invited them to join. This is explicitly not what I wanted. I tried to delete my account, it said that it was deleted, but I was actually still active. I was in a trial, and I emailed support twice to ask them to permanently delete the account. I never heard back. Then I was charged as my trial ended. Keep in mind that I thought I had closed the account myself originally, but clearly that button just doesn't do anything. I emailed again and this time - after about a week, someone reached out to say that they had completely closed my account. And then today I got an app-based email from them from some meeting that I shouldn't be associated with at all because I shouldn't exist in their application. And yet I do.

Otter.ai is the kind of product that is going to ruin other AI platform's reputation very quickly. This behavior is grifty and full of what seem to be intentional dark patterns to capture and maintain revenue and customer data against their explicit removal of consent.
