## About Optimizely Feature Experimentation
Optimizely Feature Experimentation is a full-stack experimentation and feature management platform built for product, engineering, and data teams. Run A/B and multivariate tests across web, mobile, and server-side environments from a single SDK. Feature flags, audience targeting, and real-time results all come built in. The Stats Engine supports multiple statistical methods, including sequential testing, Bayesian, and frequentist (fixed horizon), so teams can choose the approach that fits their traffic, goals, and decision-making style. Results stay valid throughout, with false discovery rate controls and outlier smoothing built in. Multi-armed bandits automatically shift traffic to winning variations. AI agents review experiments before launch, generate variations, and surface insights from results. From controlled rollouts and instant rollbacks to full-stack experimentation across every digital surface, Optimizely compresses the cycle from hypothesis to validated decision. Teams ship faster and learn with every release.

## Optimizely Feature Experimentation Reviews
  ### 1. Very good to control roles and permission

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matheus S. | Head of customer service, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I am using optimizely to control which roles on my SaaS can see each feature. Its very easy to control experimentation and feature flag. Its very simple to implement and to make changes to audiences and features. We use it everyday in production, and its very easy to integrate with the Javascript library.
Everything always worked fine, so we never need to call the customer support, so no feedbacks about that.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

At the first time, we found a little hard to understand how to register and enable the feature experimentation in our product. But past that, we didn't have any kind of issue.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely is helping with controlling which user role can have access to any kind of feature in our system. With that, we can focus in approving our SaaS with features that are relevant to our end users.

  ### 2. Easy to use, complicated to implement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giovanni L. | Front-End Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It is quite easy to use once it is implemented, and above all the multiple options without having to modify much of the implemented code, being able to perform A/B tests and manage variables all from the same space.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The only thing I didn't like was the implementation, it's true that the team was helping us a lot, but it took us a long time to implement it, first of all to understand the implementation and above all to be able to segment perfectly.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I benefit from A/B testing to be able to measure the different functionalities and designs that can affect my conversion, and to be able to control deployments easily especially when it is a big functionality that can affect several things and that anyone can do it without having to depend on the developer running it.

  ### 3. Clean UI and Flexible Cohorts Make Experimentation Easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Ability to define experiments, flexible cohort organization, clean user interface

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Integrating in-house metrics has been painful personally

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Experimentation and release of new product features

  ### 4. Optimizely Feature Flag Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mayank P. | SDE-2, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely feature flag provides a best solution for experimentation in your project(app/web/backend)
Through Optimizely you control the rollout of your features based on the parameters set i.e, country wise, some parameters defined within your system and many more.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Found the product to be but on a expensive side compared to other similar software available.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Controlled features rollout for app. This will helps us in checking the conversions rates and any potential bugs that may happen.
2. Enable/Disable features without any new app releases.
3. A/B testing for 2 features running parallel which helps us to identify the best one.

  ### 5. Great Tool with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely Feature Experimentation is a well-balanced platform that caters to both business and developer needs. The developer documentation is highly detailed, making implementation smooth, and the support team is exceptional—quick to respond, always helpful, and open to prioritizing new feature requests.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

While Optimizely is a great tool, it lacks some essential management features. I’d love to see better tools for flag management, such as an overview of all running, paused, and stale flags, the ability to label and tag flags, custom fields for adding extra details, and insights into flags running for too long.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Feature Experimentation helps us test new features and make data-driven decisions with confidence. We also use it as a feature flagging system, which makes it easy to enable or disable features instantly if something goes wrong. This flexibility improves our release process, reduces risks, and enhances overall development efficiency.

  ### 6. Fairly simple feature flagging

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Once you get the hang of the terminology and interface, it is fairly simple to manage feature flags and audiences for feature experimenting.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The flow of handling large volumes of audience members is not performant via the web interface. I found when adding hundreds of records, the front end suffered. I was able to handle it all via their json interface. After discovering the json interface, it went smoothly except for that brief time on loading I had to quickly toggle that interface before the front end started crawling trying to generate elements for all my records.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a simple enough interface for stakeholders to manage feature experiments. It is nice that developers can set it up and then other non-technical folk can toggle or manage audiences.

  ### 7. Feature Experimentation empowers teams to experiment with a hyper focus and data-driven decisions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edward P. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The ease of creating and managing audiences for experiments is paramount in creating new features and quickly sharing the changes with stakeholders.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I would love to be able to apply multiple feature flags at once as a condition - for example, only apply to audience at 5% if they also have this additional feature flag enabled.

In addition, the UI of the flags is still a bit difficult to navigate, but it is new.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature flag experimentation, handling A/B testing, and gating certain features based on location.

  ### 8. Early days but starting to make data-backed decisions via experimentation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I like the clarity of tracking different metrics, the tools to explain/achieve statistical significance, and the potential to connect to our data warehouse. I feel like it's hard to know exactly what I like the most at this point, as we're still early days into our adoption journey, but so far we've been setting up experiments via feature experimentation and successfully achieved conclusive results - I also like the option to apply a targeted rollout upon conclusion. We've felt well supported by the team so far too.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

We're struggling with the ability to match up Optimizely's event counts to the event counts on our actual front end tracking. Also we can find it frustrating that sometimes you need to upgrade tiers for functionality we consider relatively basic.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to answer causality questions by isolating the effects on conversion rate and other metrics when doing these tests. Also achieving better alignment from stakeholders through the results.

  ### 9. A great enterprise grade A/B testing solution!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely Feature Experimentation is a great A/B testing platform! It is designed for data-driven teams as well as developers, product managers, and other marketing roles looking to optimize digital experiences. It provides a comprehensive set of tools that helps you experiment with new features, personalize user experiences, and overall make data-driven decisions!

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Users must have prior A/B testing knowledge about what’s a variable, variation, and feature flag. It is essential to know what is a production environment vs development environment to make sure users are effectively using the platform!

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As graduate students at the University of Washington, my team used Optimizely Feature Experimentation to conduct a usability test of the platform for our class project.

  ### 10. A Powerful tool for Feature flag management and Experimentation

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

From a measurement results point of view which I use it for mostly, it's very easy to use. Easy to find my results and share them for business decisions

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Nothing major jumps to mind, if we could easily export this to power point or similar to aid getting the data out would be nice but not a huge problem

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to measure improvements to the customer journey we add and gives us solid data points to take back to the business to drive engagement and further buy in.

  ### 13. Expensive, but very intuitive and stable A/B testing tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

What I like most about Optimizely’s feature experimentation is how easy it is to run all kinds of experiments and simultaneously integrate it in our backend code, making it so much more easy to implement winners quickly. Besides that, they offer outstanding customer support.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Not that much apart from the fact that (in all honesty) in pricey

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FE allows us the massively speed up to process of implementing winning experiments, but also enables to build way more complex experiments as we can integrate it with our backend code.

  ### 14. Optimizely for A/B testing of our web sites

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jasper C. | Sales Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I like the experience of the Optimization feature because it is easy to use and its built-in A/B testing and customization capabilities are excellent. On the other hand, I like the traffic splitting and end-to-end connection.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The only thing I came to hate is the overload and how difficult it is to navigate.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is currently used to address problems and test and validate changes by running experiments with A/B testing and it works quite well as well as modifying pages and everything flows well.

  ### 15. A powerful toll that can help a lot

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The most helpful ones are easy audience setup, feature enablement and setup

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Bucketing, this software offers bucketing when you want to run A/B tests however combining it with additional audience that you want to enable/disable the feature can become a nightmare to track.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A lot, easy testing, easy slow rollout to users, easy hiding in progress work, etc…

  ### 16. Optimizely Feature Management and Experimentation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Avneet S. | Technical Software Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely's feature management module stands out for its seamless integration and intuitive interface. With its feature flagging system, our teams could efficiently control the release of features, toggling them on or off without cumbersome code changes or deployments. This flexibility not only streamlines the development process but also reduced the risk associated with feature releases, enabling teams to iterate with confidence. The integration mechanism and implementation is not cumbersome.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

We found that optimizely was a bit expensive for us considering the medium sized organization and limited budget we had.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a part of tax company, we use feature experimentation to determine the usability of a feature before we move it to production. Depending on the traffic and feedback from the users, we get a much better clarity on how we can improve our products and services.

  ### 17. Data-Driven Problem Solving Platform with real-time solutions to increase engagement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I particularly enjoy the flexibility of personalizing UX to the nth degree of granularity in targeting user groups which profiles the customer in the most efficient way. The in-depth web data analytics, reporting features and insights tools are key to our success and daily functioning which the Feature Experimentation provides. Lastly, we have benefited from the web development functionalities which incrementally have given our users content/customer success live on the go.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Cost is a major factor right off the bat, it is just too expensive. Our budgets allow to use similar platforms comfortable that present the same use cases. More unique functionalities will help set the platform apart from the rest and help justify the spend within our leadership group.
The complexity of platform uage when onboarding new inexperienced users, and intergrating this platform with the legacy systems that we have used for a long time is extremely challenging.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Increased website performance - sales or e-commerce
2. Core being data analytics driven which allows easier understanding of what works and what doesn't
3. This leading to more effective segmentation and targetting which has helped understand our customer and user base to classify them better and attack in a targeted fashion.

  ### 18. lead ab testing at my streaming organization with over 30 million MAUs

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex L. | sr. product manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Once you are familiar with the capabilities and limitations, it is easy to use. ie. easy to configure settings of feature experiments, easy to set your target audience, and easy to start and end tests

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

being able to only run a single AB test on a given FF is limiting for us. optimizely agent is less robust than the SDK but we don't really have an option to go with the native SDK.

also that we have to create multiple projects to effectively manage the volume of traffic is inconvenient

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

problems: administering AB tests and feature flags for a large organization that supports 50+ platforms

benefits: optimizely enables us to accomplish most of the problems above. we have had to adjust to the limitations of our instrumentation due to the 50+ platform scenario

  ### 19. Optimizely Feature Experimentation supports experimentation at scale

Technological deployment - not relying on third party servers

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

UI could be more modern to match their 'best in class'

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploying experimentation and personalisation at scale across all of our group of brands

  ### 20. Difficult to use, hard to understand interface and poor documentation

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Once you learn to navigate the platform creating feature flags is straightforward.
Benefits from a having a range of features which is useful for other teams in the business
Frequently used within the business to deliver our A/B and feature flagging needs

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Poor and out of date documentation makes it difficult to integrate across our estate and is missing key features that would allow us to have visibility (e.g. we can't integrate flags into Slack)
Interface is difficult to use - teams across the business often have to ask for verification a flag is turned on or off as changing a flag is complex and not very intuitive
AB testing is hampered by difficulties in ensuring consistent bucketing of users across the estate and the fact the % flagging doesn't appear to function as we'd expect
Navigating around the system is not easy - its not intuitive

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing us to A/B test new features before committing to roll out a feature to all customers and feature flagging parts of the codebase to enable certain functionality to be toggled on or off. It allows us to get features out into production quicker and to get accurate test and conversion data about feature on our production environment.

  ### 21. Fast and Accurate Measurement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The statistical significance tracking – alerting the user once it is reached

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Being able to test and activate fully the feature in live via backends and apps

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Need of implementation in all backend API meaning its x times number of API we have in a flow

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to test on all touchpoints connected to the backend in use

  ### 23. Most versatile and enjoyable product to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hitarth D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I like the Optimiely REST API most since it allows for so much more customization to the base product, which by itself is awesome. Apart from this, I also like the modern-looking and easy-to-navigate dashboard which does a great job of organizing all the things it has to offer to the user.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I would say there are some missing features with the REST API like the contributors API which is operational for the legacy products but not Feature Experimentation.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows the developers to easily toggle on and off code that they don't want to run in production, for example for cases where the existing piece of code is incomplete. Allows developers to break down large tasks into multiple small contributions.

It also allows us to be more confident with releasing fixes that cannot easily be tested in non-prod environments.

  ### 24. Review Over Optimizely Feature Experimentation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Himanshu Ranjan R. | Assistant Application Developer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I think optimizely can be best way in making a better digital experience.
We can personalize accordingly whatever we want to see or follow instead of unwanted things.
Another thing i liked is the web development testing feature - This can be so useful for web developers
We can easily choose our target audience

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

As of now i didn't found any negative thing.
But optimizely can improve the theme they are using in UI. Some colorful and pictorial representations may be more effective.
Specially dark theme can be changed as light
It will lookmore better. ( i mean black bg)

This is just my opinion not any negative

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can easily get some optimized or efficient product which is needed as per our requirement and our target costomer.
The problem mostly people face is our content or product is targeting right audience or not.
The other problem is regarding web development testing, we can see through A/B testing things which can boost our development site.

  ### 25. Best in class tools for feature and experimentation...!

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The best thing I like about the Optimizely's Feature Experimentation service is that they offer best in class tools for optimizing the digital experience in a way that can help in significantly improving the customer experince!! Tools for A/B testing and personalisation and feature flagging really imporves the bussiness and organization flow...Overall Love it!

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Nothing much to dislike..However more work could be carried out on third party integration and giving seemless experience...although the it already outperforms the available tools in the market but still slight improvemnt could make it best!

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a website running for managing the educational content workflow in our campus and the Optimizly Feature Experimentation had really helped us in A/B testing specially to have a check on the perfomance metrics and how website performs on certain on conditioned parameters. The optimizing functionality really helped us in ensuring that wether the overall user interface apealls the target audience or not and it's optimization based on the analytics.

  ### 26. Great tool for allowing us to dynamic change feature states

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely is very good at allowing us to try new features, experiment with features and set up custom audiences.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The part that we have more issues with is to setup multiple experiments for different platforms that use the same feature flag simultaneously. This is something that we can't do with optimizely today and it hurts is.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to dynamic enable / disable features, to test new variations of features, to segment our audience into multiple buckets, to check the better metrics for each tests, etc.
