## About Optimizely Feature Experimentation
Optimizely Feature Experimentation is a full-stack experimentation and feature management platform built for product, engineering, and data teams. Run A/B and multivariate tests across web, mobile, and server-side environments from a single SDK. Feature flags, audience targeting, and real-time results all come built in. The Stats Engine supports multiple statistical methods, including sequential testing, Bayesian, and frequentist (fixed horizon), so teams can choose the approach that fits their traffic, goals, and decision-making style. Results stay valid throughout, with false discovery rate controls and outlier smoothing built in. Multi-armed bandits automatically shift traffic to winning variations. AI agents review experiments before launch, generate variations, and surface insights from results. From controlled rollouts and instant rollbacks to full-stack experimentation across every digital surface, Optimizely compresses the cycle from hypothesis to validated decision. Teams ship faster and learn with every release.

## Optimizely Feature Experimentation Reviews
  ### 1. Powerful and easy to deploy, despite the learning curve

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert N. | Principal Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Full Stack is built on top of a clever and powerful client-side hashing strategy, allowing apps at any level of the stack to use it to power dozens of features and experiments even on critical, performance-sensitive code. The offerings for types of experiments are plentiful and provide a lot of flexibility that has always handled even our most complicated experiments. The UI is attractive and intuitive, posing no trouble for business users to adopt. And the built-in Snowflake integration was a dream come true, allowing us to tie the data directly to our internal data for richer analysis.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The hashing strategy also means that re-bucketing can occur, which has confused users once or twice. Optimizely has well-written documentation on how this works, but because it's not intuitive, it has tripped us up. They offer a strategy for persistent bucketing by implementing your own "User Profile Service", but it would be nice if this was available on a per-experiment basis as a built-in feature. Also, for enterprises with large numbers of users, managing authorization is still manual and has room for improvement.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely FS has let us add feature toggles to probably 2-3x more features than we previously would have, at all levels -- sometimes we use it to toggle between two branches of code in a method, othertimes we use it route customers to an entirely new site. We were able to do this before Optimizely, in a more manual way, but there was a lot of overhead with that approach that led to teams skipping it more often than not. Because of the SDK's ease of use, the barrier to adding feature flags is so low that every team has started doing it for nearly every feature. When things go wrong, the reverts are quick and painless.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Robert,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such thoughtful feedback, we really appreciate it! We love to hear that you're finding such success with Full Stack and we would also like to encourage you to share any insights on how we could improve your user experience with your Customer Success Manager. I had a chance to meet a highly talented team which gave me great insight into the CI/CD tool developed by Optomizely. The process seemed very convenient & easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Some more regression tests for cutting out the edge case scenarios needs to be included to make it world class.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was on the look out for CI/CD tools being offered in the market.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Anupam,

  ### 3. Experiment easy without losing performance on your applications

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The SDKs they offer work very well written and easy to setup, and they have support for several languages and taking application performance as something important to have in mind

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Not having an automatic an out-of-the-box solution for blue-green feature releases. I think this is due they are very focused on being offline, and this is not an easy problem to solve.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps a lot on feature flagging, which they also offer this for free, and without impact on your application performance. Also it provides a way to analyze if our features are having impact or not.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving us a review! We're glad to hear that our Feature Experimentation product is successfully supporting your business in its experimentation efforts. We're always open to our customers' suggestions on improvement and would greatly appreciate it if you could share these insights with your CSM.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Best part is the ease of setting up experiments and being able to change population size. Built-in conversion monitoring is also a big plus. It allows us to safely release experiments with a really quick way to role back if needed

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Sometimes getting the metrics in the results of the experiments to set up correctly is difficult and we do end up falling back to other tools to make sure we have an accurate picture of the results

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Full Stack is solving a clean and easy we for us on the product management side to handle various experiments at the same time and be able to handle population sizing without needing help from SE

  ### 7. Powerful tool developed by a stellar partner

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mindy R. | Director of Product Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The Optimizely Full Stack tool provides the capability to learn by using data and controlling the UI and the data that powers the user experience. We can leverage our designers and engineers to develop tests that move the needle on guest satisfaction while maximizing revenue. By partnering with the Optimizely team, our engineers were able to build a containerized version of Full Stack and allow more than 22 product teams to harness the goodness of this tool via API. The partnership involved was the best I've experienced in my 20+ years of software development.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

One area that has created some concern for our teams is how easy it is to publish winners to production 100%. We have had cases where business folks that lack the complete understanding of existing user flows that could be impacted by promoting a test have just promoted the winner without consulting the product engineering team. The ease of promoting winners is a good feature, but there must be governance that needs to be behind it to ensure the right experiences go into production.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the biggest problems solved by utilizing Optimizely Full Stack was realizing the actual revenue driven by new user experiences. Full Stack allows us to introduce and turn on or off experiences across the site with ease. We can also multi-arm bandit test and let the winners generate more revenue as they show significance. We can promote winners more quickly once they prove successful. Optimizely Full Stack has allowed us to dive into the personalization of experiences by allowing not only UI changes to be incorporated but also segmentation and data.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We're glad to hear that you're finding great success with Full Stack. Please make sure to share any product feedback with your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com so we can continue to improve user experience.
Thanks!

  ### 8. Great tool for robust experimentation and A/B testing!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesse M. | Associate Manager, Digital Marketing and ABM, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The flexibility and ease of use when you know exactly what you want to do with the platform and your site. From Multivariate tests to redirects, re-arranging content on pages or making changes to multiple pages all in one experience.. Optimizely has been able to do it all for my team.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I wouldn't say there's much I dislike with Optimizely as much as there were some limitations in using the platform when it comes to how my companies website was structured. So with that being said, make sure that you will be able to achieve everything you want using the tool based on the setup of your web property. For reference, I was using Gatsby+Contentful and was unable to make specific changes to modules on pages that shared the same class in the code.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

Just make sure that the way your website tech stack is built can work seamlessly with Optimizely, and if you need to make adjustments make sure to understand how much work is needed before committing.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the problem of previously being unable to customize web experiences based on specific audiences. We are now able to customize the look, feel, and experience of our website based on various audience types such as, location, device, return visitors vs first time visitors, etc. The limits are really endless when it comes to rolling out the red carpet for your most important site visitors.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Jesse,
We're happy to hear that Full Stack is providing you with effective business solutions! Our team is always open to feedback so that we can continue to improve user experience. If you would ever like to discuss any your insights, please contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 9. Customization and flexibility within reason

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan B. | Director of Product Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I am a huge fan of the freedom and flexibility feature experiments functionality provides to the end-user. I have saved loads of time and money by utilizing this feature and have been able to run multiple multivariant A/B tests across my product with just the flip of a switch. I can quickly customize/differentiate my features in real-time based on data trends and can reduce the risk of large feature roll outs through the use of the feature flag functionality.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

As is the case with most tools, one of the pain points with Optimizely is that it still requires developer support and does not always work seamlessly out of the box. We have not been able to fully utilize the stat sig calculations Optimizely provides because there are inconsistencies between this tool and our BI tool, which can be complicated to work through.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

I think Optimizely is a great tool if you are looking for a testing tool for your organization. I like the flexibility it provides, the learnings i've gained have been very insightful, and the support team is excellent. I would definitely recommend the tool.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a company were focused on gaining as many learnings as we can while still moving fast. Optimizely has definitely helped make the set up and implementation of an A/B test easy for us to manage and the features they offer (A/B testing, multivariant testing, feature flags) are useful to helping my team answer questions and spin up the right test quickly.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thank you for your feedback, we are happy to hear that you are finding success with Full Stack! Your customer success manager is always available to assist you with any issues you might run into or you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we will connect you with the right people.

  ### 10. Well built dashboard for website experiments with a few caveats

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vaughn B. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The dashboard is clean, seems organized. Ability to create feature tests, split tests, and run variables for different cohorts.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Completely unusable on mobile devices. If there was a sudden need to change a configuration or disable a test in an environment altogether, you can't do so while on the go. Additionally, there is no way to change a feature test into a simpler a/b test or vice versa if the experiment design needed to change course.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're solving the need for extraneous deployments just to adjust configuration values for running experiments. We also discovered the benefit of feature variables which can change depending on the cohort a user is assigned.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Vaughn,
Thanks for leaving us a review; user feedback helps us to continuously improve our products. Please feel free to share any insights into your experience with you customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we will connect you with the right people.

  ### 11. Full Stack Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krunal S. | Sales coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Development is the best for stack considering all point's

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It should be more good in technology and it should also be helpful to aware peoples

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

Technology

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Development is the best and it is best at its benefits

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Krunal,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, we really appreciate it! We would like to continue to improve your user experience on Full Stack and would appreciate it if you could share any insights on how we could improve with your Customer Success Manager, or you can even message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 12. Optimizely full stack has enabled true democratisation of experimentation across our org.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely full-stack enables us to empower our engineering functions to own their experiments, aligning them closer to customer metrics and helping to articulate the value of what they do.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely full stack doesnt come with some of the bells and whistles features that you get with client side. The setup is more complicated, and Optimizely doesn't give you out of the box metrics, you have to calibrate and align everything yourself.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

Optimizely Full Stack isn't just a product you buy which works out the box. You need to give considerable engineering effort to its implementation, calibration of metrics, and reporting. If you put the time and effort in, Optimizely full-stack trumps the client-side product in its ability to help scale experimentation velocity and accuracy of reporting, experiment bucketing and metric firing server side. If you don't have aligned engineering resources, you may be better off evaluating the client-side product.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely full stack has enabled us to bring experimentation closer to our product & engineering process. We're solving customer challenges through experiments in our digital experiences, helping to drive increased product engagement, conversion, and retention.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thank you for your review! Please share any feedback you may have with your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com. We continuously strive to improve user experience and your insights help us in doing so.

  ### 13. Extremely Powerful

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely Full Stack is extremely powerful for experimenting and A/B testing. As a developer, it provides a full experimentation framework for our product. It's highly customizable (since almost everything is done in code), and it offers detailed insight into how our customers are interacting with the product. With Optimizely Full Stack, I've been able to increase conversion rate, identify pain points in our product, reduce friction, and create a better UX for our customers. It's simply a necessary tool at this point. We use it every single day, and we can't live without it.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The only thing I dislike about Optimizely Full Stack is its web interface. Sometimes, it takes a while to load. And overall, it feels slightly clunky.

As a developer, I wish I could configure everything using code instead of having to configure it through the web app. This would be in line with today's trend of "Configuration as Code" (which is very popular in the developer world). That way, I'd only have to use the web app to see results.

Ultimately, these are nitpicks. At the end of the day, it's a great product, and the issues above are not dealbreakers by any means.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

If you need to run dozens of complicated A/B tests per week, especially in JavaScript-heavy environments, I'd highly recommend Optimizely Full Stack. It's a game-changer.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem we're solving is improving our conversion rate. We have multiple purchase funnels that we're trying to optimize. These funnels are built with React, which makes it difficult to use other A/B testing tools. With Full Stack, I can easily run our experiments in our JavaScript heavy flows.

At the end of the day, we've boosted conversion rate by an order of magnitude, and reduced the overall friction in our funnels. Our customers are happier, and we're making more money. Everyone is happy.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We are so happy to hear that you're enjoying our product! Hearing your insight is key to improving user experience, so please don't hesitate to contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com with any feedback.

  ### 14. Some kinks, but overall a great product my growing team has relied on for experimentation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

My favorite feature is their feature flag feature, since it's so versatile. It can transition a feature conceptually between an experiment and rollout, which is great for any team that needs to test out a feature and iterate over time.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Certain parts of the UI need some work to help enable teams to move faster i.e. showing environment toggles on the feature flag dashboard, having a "one click" button to transition a feature from experiment to feature rollout without costing more impressions.

One of my team's largest painpoints however, is how changes to an audience rollout and exposure made for an experiment must be done for all the environments the experiment is a part of -- that has lead my team to need to create separate projects for each environment and duplicate experiments across them.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team uses Optimizely Full Stack to manage and track experiments across our cross-platform system. Using this product has allowed us to accomplish this in a single platform.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks for your feedback! Please reach out to your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com if you would like to speak further about any of the issues you are experiencing with our platform.

  ### 15. I am using Optimizely Full Stack for almost one year and I really enjoy the experience.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It's easy to start a new experience and all data around is transparent to all in the team, not only devs.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

- Is a bit hard to find where/how to config each environment, everyone that joins the team has doubts around. Questions like "Where I change the value of variable x on development", "Where I change the percentage of the experiment on development".
- I don't like to have to change the experiments in the environment when I am developing/testing something locally, usually there is more than one person using the same environment.
- Do automatic tests, we use jest, is something that is consuming time, principally when the goal is testing all variations.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

Easy to use.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- A/B test
- Deployment of new features that are no 100% done.
- We have some warning messages, that we show to the client in some specific situations we control the visibility and the message using Optimizely.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks for your feedback! We are happy to hear about your positive user experience. Your customer success manager is always available for support or you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com so we can assist in providing you with solutions.

  ### 16. Overall easy to use

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I like that you can set up several secondary/other metrics in addition to the primary metric. Results are very clear, and I like that I can see everything on one page, including impressions, metrics, stat sig, conversion rates, and visualizations. I'm a Product Manager, and from a PM standpoint, the tool is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I don't like that there isn't a way to filter on environment. Since Optimizely allows you to maintain separate Prod and other environments for each experiment, I would expect to have the option to filter for each. A developer on my team figured out a way to create a custom segment for this, but it's something I would have expected out of the box.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

N/A

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Full Stack helps us to solve for optimizing conversion across our site. The benefits we're realizing include learnings about user behavior and the ability to quantify it and forecast financial impacts as a result.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
We are happy to hear that Full Stack is successfully providing you with business solutions. Please contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com with any questions or recommendations so we can improve your user experience.
Thanks!

  ### 17. Feature Flags plus lots more

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jerry M. | senior software engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Adding feature flags for trunk-based development

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It can get quite complicated, depending on what you want to do.
Also, they have blog entries that correctly point out the benefits of testing with feature flags on and off, but have no examples of how you would use their SDK to do that. And when asked, they don't know how to actually do it either.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The initial benefit is by adding feature flags for trunk-based development, we can merge to master more often, knowing all the new features are behind feature flags.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Jerry,
Thank you for your review, we highly value your feedback! Your customer success manager is always available to provide you with any support you may need or message us at reviews@optimizely.com so we can help find the solutions that are right for you.

  ### 18. Enterprise features, enterprise UX

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely is a very powerful A/B testing platform, and their libraries are easy to integrate into our web servers.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The website for managing Optimizely feature flags and experiments is a little clunky. It's very slow if there are a lot of flags set up, and the controls for rolling out flags are poorly explained. Additionally, we had to build a separate tool in order to map Optimizely's audiences to our users.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's our go-to tool for rolling out new features to a subset of users, as well as A/B testing.

  ### 19. Essential tool for companies growth

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It's easy to check AB tests. No digging deep into data or doing queries. It's there for everyone in the company to see the results and anaylze it. Also the exclusion groups make it easy to test multiple tests at a time.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Not much. Only a bit for effort on the tech side than the web tests. But we mostly try to do fullstack tests since it's seems more accurate for us.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If your organization is big and has many tests running in the AB tests can be run separated.
Also, checking other team's tests and accessing result data is straightforward and intuitive.
Good if you need to do want to grow your business with data.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks for your review. We highly value your feedback and are happy that you're finding success with Full Stack! If you ever run into any issues or have any questions in the future, please contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 20. Full Stack both in name and in nature

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It enables us to do all the analytical plumbing of connecting our back-end systems to our optimization toolkit. This means we can really get into the detail of how our audiences behaved before and after conversion.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It's not a nimble as their other product X Web. It can take our dev/product teams a while to spin out tests, due to all the 'plumbing' we have to do. While it does synch with other analytics tools, it's not as easy to integrate as other tools (e.g. X Web)

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

I'd consider how 'nuclear' a solution you really need. Full Stack is super powerful, but that comes at a price (both financially and in terms of resources required to set it up).

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're trying to understand how changing pricing/product options on the site impacts propensity to convert - but not just during that session. We're also looking at what prospects/customers do after they've converted. This helps us to understand whether a change we made upstream (e.g. on the website) also has a positive impact after they've converted with us. It has enabled us to see and think more holistically - we're not just thinking about one particular moment. We're also considering the wider impact.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thank you for your highly valuable feedback! We're happy to hear that you're satisfied with our product. If you ever have any questions or concerns please contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we can work towards a solution that is right for you.

  ### 21. Optimizely Full Stack

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Quick response for the questions provided in the optimizely-community.slack.com

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Even the small feature was there "Asa Schachar:optimizely-white: 6 months ago
I think I see what’s happening. This is good feedback and I think we will be addressing this in an upcoming new version of targeted rollouts.
Since the rollout for the first audience is 0%, that means 0% of those qualifying for the first audience will be in the rollout. So it evaluates the everyone else rule.
To get the behavior you are looking for, you might need to use a feature variable, to keep it simple, you could have a boolean variable enabled that’s either true or false
Then for the targeted rollout, set it to 100% for all audiences but change the value of the variable for each audience. That way you can have a true experience for cypressON and a false experience for cypressOFF. Does that make sense? (edited) '

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature Flag testing with ON and OFF

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks for your review! We appreciate your feedback. If you ever have any questions or would like to discuss functionality any further please don't hesitate to reach out to your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we will connect you with the right people.

  ### 22. Love the analytics

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William H. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I really enjoyed my experience as it provided very in-depth analytics on my feature and the respective environments. In this way, I was able to make inferences from the traffic and relay important information to my team

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I did think that the time for changes to propagate in the envs was a bit longer than I liked

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it to run feature flags in order to gain valuable feedback about our work

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi William,
Thanks for your review! We highly value your feedback and are happy to hear that you're enjoying your experience with Full Stack. If you're ever experiencing any issues with the platform or have any questions please contact your customer success manager or message at revies@optimizely.com.

  ### 23. Making A/B testing and feature rollouts extremely convenient

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It's straightforward to do feature tests and A/B tests. There is excellent documentation for developers, and the results page is detailed and valuable. The history page makes it easy to track changes to experiments.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The website can sometimes be slow to load. It might be clearer to include "Variations" and "Traffic Allocation" so it's easier to understand how much traffic is going precisely to each variation.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

Make sure you understand the statistics and fundamentals of A/B testing before using Optimizely, or else it may be difficult to understand how the tools work.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can determine whether a new feature is safe to roll out without affecting baseline conversion performance.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving us a review! We are happy you are finding success with Full Stack. If you ever have any questions or concerns please reach out to your customer success manager or contact us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 24. Easy-to-use software that integrates well with contentful

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Business Supplies and Equipment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I always use Optimizely full-stack for my AB tests on contentful. It integrates well and setting up an experiment doesn't take much time.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

AB test results overview could be better visually with more customization options. It's not as intuitive as it could be for people who are not used to it.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

Make sure to spend time understanding the software, there is a learning curve.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to be able to launch and analyze A/B tests on a regular basis on our website. Using Optimizely we do not need the help of developers. We are more agile, and we therefore gain time. Independence is important.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks for your review! We highly value your feedback as it is key in improving user experience. If you ever have questions or would like to speak further about your concerns surrounding the product, please reach out to your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 25. Simple, easy to use and great UI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I use the flag feature a lot as a QA. I like how simple the UI is to use e.g., to know which environments have which flags on which is super helpful to see at a glance and make comparisons in our products to ensure certain features are working correctly.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I dislike that we only use some features in my workplace, so I'm not utilizing the full tool!

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can send features straight to production as sometimes they can't be tested properly in QA. We can test during downtime then turn the flag off for customers until we're ready to release.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks for your response! It's important to us that you get the most out of our product and your customer success manager is always available to provide you with some guidance. You can also message us at reviews@optimizely.com so we can connect you with the right people.

  ### 26. Optimizely Full Stack helps us roll out experiments quickly with minimal friction

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely Full Stack has an intuitive UI, and it's easy to set up and test experiments. Forcing variants is easy, and it's simple to control traffic.

Experiment code is created for many programming languages, so a simple copy/paste will be enough to get your experiment up and running.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I occasionally receive notifications that we've reached our traffic quota, but it would be helpful if these were broken down by experiment. I find it challenging to track down which experiments are causing us to exceed our quota.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to gate new features and test rollout to various user groups.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We are happy to hear that you are successfully experimenting with Full Stack. Your customer success manager is always available to answer any of your questions or you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we will connect you with the right people.
Thanks!

  ### 27. good for online ab test

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Commercial Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

easy to use SDK, slack community, stat engine is good on average, sticky user profile to keep treatment the same.not a lot to like

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

bad customer support, not flexible pricing strategy, not good for offline event, no product analytics support, not sure how multiple comparison is adjusted when you have more than 2 variant, snowflake data doesn't match result UI number and couldn't get tech support to debug. not sure what's the consequences of using different randomization id

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ab testing
can't run continuous experiment with MAB type of feature because that requires additional cost

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thank you for leaving us a review. We're sorry to hear that you've been experiencing issues with Full Stack, as quality user experience is very important to us. Please reach out to your customer success manager or message us reviews@optimizely.com so we can find the solutions that are right for you.

  ### 28. I'm using Optimizely Full Stack as our tool for quickly setting &analyzing A/B testing in our webapp

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The ability to remotely control experiments and changing them from experiments to running features easily (so that also product managers can use them).

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The lack of support for exclusion groups with setting forced variations (we currently use our own "hack" for it, but I wish this was an out of the box solution).

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Creating and updating A/B tests
- Analyzing experiments
- Remote control
- Using the API, we created a tool for our marketing team to easily create experiments for holiday banners in our website.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We're so happy that Full Stack is providing you with effective business solutions. If you ever have any feedback, please feel free to share it with your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com so we can continue on improving user experience.
Thanks!

  ### 29. Optimizely is enabling the Growth Engineering team to run more web experiments

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The level of granularity and flexibility to bucket visitors into experiments is beneficial.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

There's no notification or email to the owner of the experiment (or "watchers") to get notified when the experiment reached 100% stat sig.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Optimizely, we were using a homegrown solution that presented some limitations and challenges:
- Running multiple experiments at the same time was challenging due to data pollution;
- Limitations to creating audiences for the experiment;
- Time required to setup the experiments and future analysis was impacting the learning velocity;

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thank you so much for review! We love to hear customer feedback, because it helps us continuously improve user experience. It would be great if you could share your insights or any questions with your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The React SDK of Optimizely Full Stack comes with easy-to-use hooks which we use to run experiments on both the server and client side.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

There are no downsides known to me at this point.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Optimizely Full Stack to do controlled feature rollouts and experiment heaviliy for conversion optimization.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Ronne,
We are glad to hear that you're finding success with our Full Stack product. If any questions or concerns ever arise in the future, please don't hesitate to contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 31. Solid option for experimentation, feature flags, and A/B testing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

As a developer, I found their documentation to be comprehensive, straightforward, and up-to-date.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

There was one small detail that was missing from the developer documentation where it never says that event logs are temporarily stored in local storage in case the request to submit errors in the case of a time-out or page refresh.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

Optimizely is a great choice for implementing A/B testing, feature experimentation and/or flags.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are working on A/B testing with regards to enabling/disabling certain features or making slight text or style changes.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

  ### 32. Reliable, easy-to-use experimentation platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely FS empowers our team to:

1. Wrap features into flags and spin-off n-number of experiments
2. Accurately report on experiments
3. Create unique targeting/audience attributes based on our business segments

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely FS has a tendency to have outages that limit our ability to view up-to-date experiment results and reports.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're leveraging Optimizely FS to improve retention (onboarding & activation, engagement).

To date, we've been able to run a number of experiments that have given us the ability to learn and iterate faster.

  ### 33. Full stack enables deeper experiences to be delivered easily

**Reviewed by:** Adam H. | Head of Digital, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

How well it integrates into our development practices

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It took some time to get our development teams onboard and comfortable that it wasn't a significant overhead

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enabling deeper experiments which optimizely web would not support. Allowing us to test within our mobile app natively.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Adam,
Thanks so much for leaving us a review! We're happy to hear that you're finding success with Full Stack. If you ever have any feedback or questions, please don't hesitate to contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.conm.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

It's not clear how to use the audience feature.

  ### 36. Use to set up A/B test

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Help product engineers to install experiments easily. My previous company set up tests without Optimizely and I found my current companies use this platform a lot

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I hope we can more easily get the experiment data from Optimizely to our internal database.
It would be helpful if we can also set up an exclusion group and experiment group in Optimizely.
My current version does not come with analytical tools

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Experiments setup. Lots of automation

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thank you for your review! We highly value customer insight when improving our products. If you ever have any questions or feedback please contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 37. Such an advanced tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

You can run much more complicated and detailed tests - so not just changing visual elements like images and copy, but also testing functional elements on your website.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

The need for advanced developers is much greater on Full Stack than it is on the Web version, so as a marketing department we struggle to implement a test on our own

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reduction in errors on the site finding better functional solutions i.e. better date picker

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks you leaving us a review! We really appreciate hearing your feedback about our Full Stack product. If you are ever in need of support or have any concerns, please contact your customer success manager or contact us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 38. Fully featured, great statistical analysis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

Optimizely has an easy to use SDK that allows all types clients to configure exactly how they want to experiment with their product.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

There could be more documentation regarding experimentation on native apps that requires bucketing on start up or in app. Figuring out how to bundle the data json file into the app and the trade-offs associated was not well documented anywhere.

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are running A/B experiments in our native and web applications.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thank you for providing us with this valuable response! We are glad to hear that our product is benefitting your business. If you ever have any questions or feedback please don't hesitate to contact your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Feature Experimentation:**

Easy to use, flexible, allows to experiment

- not possible to auto-provision new users
- we wanted more customization around flag values (wanted to use some custom values per tenants in our SaaS product)

**What problems is Optimizely Feature Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- good for running experimends and A/B tests
- configuring flag values per environments and universe of users

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Feature Experimentation?**

I feel sometimes it slows down the website loading speed.

With version 2, we are missing Whitelist. Benefits are feature flags and the option to copy experiment setup among different environments like copy dev setup to staging.
