"Tries too hard"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

When it works it works great, easy to set up and the web/express editions, although limited are reasonable. More secure than other similar products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The pricing is a mess, different licenses and situations (clients/dev/Gold Partner) is just all confusing. The Enterprise edition is a joke of a price.

Any simple task never seems to work correctly, shrinking databases, scripts hardly ever work, even with Microsoft getting a remote session. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid product with good return on investment"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Used by many applications with a high adoption rate. Integrates well with other products and, compared to other products, offers good value for the cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

CPU and RAM resource usage can be high at times. Would like to see core product improvements to add more value to customers. Reporting services could use some improvements to be more user friendly out of the box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great tool for data storage, reporting and analysis."
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I like most its inbuilt features as these are very helpful during the development - makes my task easy. Its very powerful tool for Relational Database Management System and compatible with cross platform as well as database connectivity on different application is preety smooth. Easy to communicate with linked servers i just need to define the configuration to perform this action. I can easily analyse the existing database objects.

I can review the performance of db objects just by using execution plan and statistics - when there is a serious issue in Stored Procedure performance then it provides the detail of misssing indexes in the execution plan. As well as to improve the performance easy to review such things using Database Tuning Adviser.

Its trace feature is awesome - i can easily capture the running SQL script(s) in the trace.

Monitoring dabase objects is so smooth.

Creation and modfication of Table, Function, Stored Procedure, View, Trigger, Index etc. so simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Not much to dislike only the issue i noticed sometime it consumes CPU a bit high and requires a bit more space on disk for installation. Overall its meeting our requirement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL server is a excellent database equipped with great components like SQL Profiler, Query Optimizer, Resource manager, SSIS , SSRS etc. Efficiency of MS sql server is very excellent in terms of read and updating the data. There is now support of migration to Azure Sql DB which makes it more portable in terms of cloud requirements. It also has ability to create a custom objects at permission and access granting level. creating auto SQL jobs is quiet easy and has a lot of features for quick use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Although very nice but i think it needs to be more scalable. SQL server is an excellent RDBMS only for mid size DB requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SQL Is the Standard"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Perhaps the most straight forward of the database software and languages. I find the connection between other development tools and this tool to be the most smooth of all of the database providers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The UI of the SQL Server and SQL Server Management is lacking compared to newcomers to the game. It can be quite boring starting at Microsoft's database programs compared to competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
