Generated using AI from real user reviews

"Does database management very well"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL is a tool used to manage databases, meaning it stores data for users and applications to be able to retrieve this data. We use SQL as a backend to some of our applications. Setting up databases is very easy, as well as retrieving data via queries. You can also store basically unlimited amounts of data. Connecting to the databases is pretty easy as well and currently supports TLS1.2. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The speed is usually very fast but I have noticed on some clients with huge databases where there are million of results, no matter how spec'ed out the machine is, retrieving data is bogged down. You have to manage databases to make sure no single table builds up too much data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

--> Compare to other relational databases Microsoft SQL server licensing options are pretty pricey.

--> it has very limited compatibility, Microsoft SQL Server is only designed to run on windows based servers. for various reasons, including licensing cost and security concerns, developers may opt to host their websites on unix based machines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Makes Life Easier "
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL makes looking for data so easy. Once you learn it, it's not difficult at all. You can put in queries and for us all I have to do is modify the query just a little to get basically everything I need. I learned through LinkedIn learning which really helped me. I was not taught on the job but it was not difficult. The best thing is the data is really easy to read. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

There is a lot to learn. If you don't have a class or take the time to learn it can be difficult. You can not just jump right in and start getting data. It takes a lot of time to learn. It has good information but it does take a long time to learn. It is worth it to learn it though. It is the best database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Feature rich, highly tunable"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

The query analyzer is a great tuning tool. The ability to embed really anything in a stored proc or an agent job is nice for integrating other systems or using it to manage workflows. Great tools for diagnosing production issues like deadlocks Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The Intellisense doesn't keep up with your changes in the editor. There should be some kind of really good visual tool for building queries. Permissions management is a real chore. It would be nice to have some way to express business logic as a set of rules rather than just write it as t-sql in sored procs, something more analyst-friendly. "Microsoft Sql Server Review"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I like most the SQL query editor which supports intellisense and provides support of query optimizer and inbuilt sql library. Help(F1) keyboard provides details of selected word. Debugging functionality is wonderful if you have local setup of Microsoft SQL server. Works as back-end for multiple frameworks and programming languages. MS Sql server provides multiple solid tools like SQL Profiler and resource manager. Easy to integrate third party plug ins. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Installation and Setup is time taking and needs some user intervention to complete. SQL query editor has limitation on maximum size of a variable. Debugging is not possible with remote server as i know. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to learn, implement and use with haste"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

It runs really fast and it has goodfeatures where you can easily filter and sort. Not to mention its good integration and universality Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

There's no actual downside but if I'd name one, I'd go and say that more companies show up in Database services sector and some offer more visual tools and features, not leaving all to SQL query but instead be more user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

It’s standard. It’s reliable. We run dozens of MSSQL servers for both internal applications and other vendor software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The SQL servers are resource hungry and will take all you give it. Tuning performance has been my biggest headache. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Query's with MS Sql"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Ability to be able to use a visual representation to write a query, Update and Insert Statements and also all the layout of the management studio is easy to navigate round Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

it has improved over the years but the older versions only allow you databases for free up to a certain size and to buy sql server if you are hitting the limit on the free edition it out prices it for small companies Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
