"Performs and reliable"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Robust enough for large data sets, usable SQL language, and can, not only, create relational databases, but they integrate well into the Microsoft products if needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

While a bit heavier than MySQL, I liked the interfaces and integration into .NET better than MySQL. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust database solution"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL Server has a fairly easy to use interface in SQL Server Management Studio, which offers many useful tools (especially when connecting to larger databases), such as the Object Explorer and IntelliSense. The database engine itself is also quite robust and can handle many simultaneous queries originating from different users. The query output window is very convenient and is capable of displaying even very large datasets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

As a Microsoft product, it is entirely reliant on the Microsoft development team for any new features/updates. It also uses T-SQL, Microsoft's proprietary variant of the SQL standard, which leads to hiccups when also using other SQL databases. The internal optimization engine, which determines how a specific query is executed, is perfectly fine for most queries, but occasionally it will trip up on more complex ones and getting the desired query to run in any reasonable amount of time can be frustrating and require messing around with the specifics of how the SQL is written. "SQL Server for the masses"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

What I like best about SQL Server is how it has simplified supporting and working with databases from the simple queries to the larger. They have simplified it all. Including but not limited to Reporting, analyzing, supporting, disaster recovery, Maintenance and so much more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

There is not much to dislike about SQL Server and I don't think I have any huge negative issues glaring at me that I can think of to post at the moment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mature and reliable database"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL Server is a mature product, most assuredly on par with Oracle and other industrial strength databases. I find it very stable, high performing, and continuing to evolve. Microsoft is clearly interested in continuing to evolve SQL Server even further. It is an extremely common and well documented database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) seems to lag behind competing reporting products. It requires a little too much effort to performance-optimize. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
