"Microsoft SQL Server"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Setup and installation is a breeze today. So there's that. Also, performance monitoring and troubleshooting has gotten better and there is a huge support community out there for aiding any troubleshooting you may have. In memory tables and even Linux support is pretty cool. I think MS is heading in the right direction and this is a product line I've stuck with since about 2008. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Older versions 2005, 2008, and even 2012 were sometimes a PITA to install and configure properly. There were various issues. The licensing model is tricky also in the newer editions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Tried and True Enterprise Database"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

The best database engine in Windows development engine supporting synchronization of SQL server databases in different remote sources It also offers an easy-to-use GUI for developers unlike the command line environment of other databases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Not much to dislike in my experience. Sometimes it feels like MS SQL lacks the performance compared to Oracle, but in many cases, the difference is not that great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SQL Development with Microsft SQL"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

It was intended to use in developing SQL query scripts. And it does that in excellent fashion. One of my favorite features is the SQL query syntax suggestion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It is quite expensive. I've never been able to own one on my own. Only through my job. One of its competitors is MySQL, which is open source, and has almost all the features, although not on an enterprise level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The real deal for business DB - not only option but for most the best."
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Consistent UI and configuration that means multiple generations of product don't require relearning to transition. Huge community and history of people finding the same problem you have encountered so fixes are often easy to find. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL script is not programing and despite everyone's best efforts to convince me otherwise it is not. Some of the concepts of the product, backup recovery models, backup types, and more are not as intuitive or "consistent" with industry terms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Helpful Tool"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I like using Microsoft SQL to securely lookup or establish data relationships. I like that intelligence is intuitive and I can use it either on premise or in the cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The price is fairly steep, and some of the features, such as seem pointless. It's also difficult to use as an out of the box solution because it requires some training and heavy research to realize it's full potential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
