"Getting Better With Open-Source Support"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL Server provides an easy-to-use enterprise-level SQL environment. The ability to create separate schemas in a particular database sets it apart from the open-source alternative MySQL (although the same feature is available in PostgreSQL, as well). It provides fairly intuitive GUI tools for importing and exporting data, and it is easy to replicate or backup existing databases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

For Linux users, it can be a bit tedious at times, since there is currently no Linux support for SQL Server Management Studio, but available drivers work generally work well with open-source alternatives to SSMS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Could be better"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I do like the interface and the amount of things it can do. It's really robust as far as queries go and the interface isn't terrible, but it could definately use some work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

I wish it were more simplistic\user friendly, but it is a backend style program. There has to be an expectation that you know and understand SQL and SQL language in order to use this program. It's not something you can jump into with no knowledge and expect to be able to manuevere around. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I am only a technical writer who writes about this in relation to manuals, articles, blogs, etc I write. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SQL Rules the Roost!"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Standard across all platforms, simple to use- and support is world wide. If you have questions, you can always google and find the answer Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It can be tedious for new users, esp if limited in background of Queries or Scripting. I wish MS Would offer a SQL 101 class to all users whom purchase a software license Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerfull tool"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

There a lot of features that I really like, every new version have new stuff that makes easier the management of the data, instances, backups, cloud services, users and others, but the features that I treasure more are:

- Azure deployment

- Windows authentication

- Backups

- Role based user management Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Some years ago it was complex to setup a new instance of SQL Server, newer versions and wizards has made it easier but there are some configurations that are difficult to understand and configure, even more if you have issues with some library or DLL at the installation. "Great DataBase "
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I like that it is very easy to create tables from the interface and with code, also it is great that. It is a really powerful database, it is stable and it is fast. Another good thing SQL has is that there is a lot of documentation on the Microsoft websites so if you face an issue, it is likely that there you will be able to easily find the solution or you can create your question on the Microsoft website, and there are a lot of sql communities. Permissions are really easy to assign as they are based on the user role. Doing backups, restorations is really easy on SQL compared to other platforms out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It is one of the most expensive data storage platforms in the market. Also requires a lot of optimization, if your database isn't well optimized it can run very slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A convenient tool for beginners"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL server offers compatibility with most of the products from Microsoft. One does not need deep technical knowledge of SQL to use this tool. the best thing about SQL server is that it lets you edit queries without connecting to the server and has an interactive GUI which can be used to perform the task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Hard to set-up. It occupies more memory space and RAM. Also the queries need to be editted before importing to another tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
