I've encountered a few issues with Integrity Advocate that are concerning. A significant problem is that some students have found ways to bypass the software by disabling certain features in their browsers, allowing them to take tests without the necessary oversight. This undermines the core purpose of the software, which is to ensure exam integrity. Additionally, integrating the software seamlessly with various content items has been challenging, often resulting in functionality issues that disrupt its intended use. Moreover, the cost is quite steep. The high expense of the licenses is a major concern, especially given that the licenses expire after a year. This expiration makes it difficult to predict the number needed in advance and hinders our ability to purchase in bulk to potentially lower costs. I really appreciate how Integrity Advocate integrates directly into D2L Brightspace without needing any additional downloads. I would like to have up-to-date reporting capabilities for student identity verification results. Currently, the service provides only a monthly report on licenses consumed, which lacks vital information regarding whether a student's identification was accepted. I really appreciate that Integrity Advocate allows for secure remote proctoring without the need for students to download any software. Our new Account Manager, Mel Hall, has been very responsive and supportive whenever we've had concerns. She has met with us several times and always made sure to find answers to our questions. The service itself is easy to use and is popular among our students. The implementation process went smoothly. IA is now used by the majority of our students. When we first started using Integrity Advocate, we did not receive sufficient onboarding or training. As a result, we were unaware of certain features and how they might affect our students. We also had the impression that the service would be more comprehensive than it turned out to be. Additionally, new features were introduced without our knowledge, which ended up impacting the student experience. We frequently encounter challenges when trying to follow up on flags. For instance, if a student is flagged for looking away from the screen, we lack the necessary context to determine whether they actually used an external resource. The browser restrictions have also been problematic for our students. Furthermore, we were not informed about the demo test provided by IA, so we unnecessarily created our own version. Overall, while we appreciate the ease and efficiency of the service, we admittedly do not think it catches those who are academically dishonest as they are many ways for students to get around the rules. The platform is very easy to use, and I really liked how detailed the interface is. The screenshots and the way violations were explained made everything very clear. One thing I find a bit limiting about Integrity Advocate is that it doesn’t send notifications for potential rule violations after an attempt has been overridden. Receiving these alerts would be helpful, as clinicians may behave differently if they try again, and it would provide a more complete view of their behavior.
