I love that Open LMS provides a simple and easy-to-use platform, making it unnecessary for our mentors to have a high level of technical ability to log in and navigate. Its security allows us to keep our intellectual property protected, and we can control who accesses it. I appreciate that the platform is updated regularly and meets all our needs in terms of functionality and accessibility. The customer service is exceptional, from the front-line service desk to account management, as they are always responsive, friendly, and helpful. Open LMS allows us to include all the resource types we need and supports intuitive navigation and layouts. Its accessibility functions offer customization for specific needs, and I found the setup very easy since the team assisted with migrating our courses and creating a custom theme that matched our branding. Overall, I'm super happy with everything about Open LMS.

At the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia (AFPM), Open LMS has been very reliable and user-friendly for managing our training programmes and assessments. The platform is flexible for course setup, supports large participant numbers, and provides useful reporting to monitor learners’ progress. The customization and integration features help streamline our administrative workflow, while the clear learning interface makes it easy for doctors and trainees to navigate. Overall, it is a stable and cost-effective solution for our educational needs.

At the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia (AFPM), one challenge is that the interface can feel a bit cluttered for new users, especially doctors who are not familiar with LMS platforms, and they may need guidance during their first use. **What do you like best about Open LMS?**

I have been using OpenLMS for nearly 10 years, starting when it was still Blackboard OpenLMS. Over that time, I have seen significant growth and improvement in the platform. I can confidently say that it is a reliable and effective learning management system.

The learning activities tools are particularly helpful for teachers. They provide flexibility in course design and make it easier to engage students through varied instructional strategies. The platform supports structured content delivery, assessments, and interactive learning experiences in a way that is practical for both faculty and learners.

With its annual feature updates, OpenLMS has continuously evolved. Enhancements in functionality and user experience demonstrate a commitment to ongoing improvement and responsiveness to institutional needs.

The support team has also been consistently helpful and maintains clear, ongoing communication whenever we encounter technical issues. Their responsiveness and technical guidance have contributed greatly to the smooth operation of our LMS environment.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

The least helpful aspect of OpenLMS is the frequent changes to the user interface design. While updates are important, significant shifts in layout and appearance can create confusion among users—especially those who have already become familiar with a previous design. Instead of major UI changes, it would be more beneficial to prioritize adding new features or enhancing existing learning activity tools. Greater interface stability would help maintain user confidence and reduce the learning curve for both faculty and students.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenLMS helps us effectively deliver and manage assessments within our institution. This benefits us by streamlining the assessment process, reducing the manual workload for faculty, and ensuring that students receive timely feedback on their performance. Previously, faculty had to check papers manually, which was time-consuming and often led to delays, inconsistencies, and a higher risk of human error.

Now, we are using the Quiz tool, which has significantly improved our assessment process. With automated grading, instant feedback options, item analysis, and organized result tracking, the tool increases efficiency and accuracy while maintaining academic standards.

**What do you like best about Open LMS?**

I really appreciate that the Open LMS support team is always available when we need them. The learning environment is very dynamic, and with Open LMS, adaptation to new changes is easier. It's also great to have a robust and affordable LMS. I find the ability to take full advantage of LTI and integrations with tools like Cengage, McGraw, and Turnitin, particularly beneficial. The user-friendly and easy-to-navigate interface makes my job as the sole Administrator much easier. Overall, it’s been working really well for our institution.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

Although it is great to be able to import Question banks from third parties, I think improvements with Question banks and the ease of removing or navigating through them could be refined and improved.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Open LMS supports dynamic learning, making adaptation easier. It's affordable, integrates with tools like Cengage and Turnitin, and the support team is extremely responsive.

**What do you like best about Open LMS?**

I really appreciate their swift response to our requests, which helps us deliver timely activities and resources to students. I also love the monthly client meetings, especially the Client Open Hours with Suzie Chen, who is really great at introducing new activities to keep us updated.

I experience technical issues like bugs in the plugins that hold us back from using them to their full potential. Some functionality seems to have glitches or bugs that we address, and while they get resolved, they appear again after a while. The server performance is another area that needs more stability and attention as it affects key functionalities.

Our rep Manu has been a helpful partner in helping us obtain the solutions that we need. This is a reasonably priced product that works well and is reliable for us.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

The tech support isn't always as fast as we would like - but that's not unique to OpenLMS. That said, anytime there is a critical issue/ emergency they are responsive and quick to provide a solution.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenLMS provides a hosted Moodle environment for us. This saves us from needing to host it internally and take on all of the work associated with it.

**What do you like best about Open LMS?**

I really like the course reuse feature in Open LMS. It allows me to import course contents from previous semesters and customize them if needed, which saves me a lot of time. The grading system is also a standout feature for me; it automatically grades certain types of work and is easy to use for grading essays. I find customizing the gradebook and sharing students' grades very convenient.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

I don't like the recent upgrade to the expansion of all the contents of a section in the left navigation pane. It makes the section menu look so crowded.

I use Open LMS for sharing learning materials and administering activities. It saves me time with course reuse and simplifies grading with its easy, customizable system.

I like that Open LMS has different views, which allows organizing the view for the student according to different characteristics of the target population and generating diverse views. This allows people to see the platform in different organizations and not everyone has to see the same thing, which is quite useful.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

There is still a situation that has not been corrected, such as access through the application, which does not register the access and does not allow us to identify if they are really active or not.

Open LMS allows us to easily publish and manage different subjects, which is very useful for our university. Additionally, the option to generate different views for different groups enriches the user experience.

There are many useful features we can rely on, and the implementation process is straightforward. The customer support team was also really helpful whenever we needed assistance.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

There isn’t much to dislike about it. However, we would appreciate more improvements soon for open engine reports, especially more options for choosing graph colours. It would also be great if the dashboard could offer different template sections, rather than only a vertical, per-item view.

It would probably be helpful for tenant admins to have the ability to bulk upload users.

If I need to make an adjustment or configuration that is not a priority for others, they don't take it into account, and to have it considered, it's very tedious to have to post in several places to see if they already consider my request as more important.

At the moment, I don't have any specific problem in mind; some issues with the operation or configuration of the environment have been resolved.

**What do you like best about Open LMS?**

I like the suppport that eThink provides. They are always very quick with their responses. I like the gradebook functions in Moodle. I love how they will work to find a solution to any problem you may have. In addition to this, I like how the LMS integrated with our schools SIS and provides our students and faculty with a user-friendly experience. 

I like the ticket-based support systems as well.

I have not found anything that I dislike. I have compared this LMS with other LMSs and it has been one of the best, the reviews have been great, the functionality is great, the support are great. The only thing I would like to see more of is analytics and reporting tools.

I would recommend that others do their research to ensure that this LMS has all of the features and functionality that they are needing in an LMS. And also that is is able to integrate with all of the other systems that their organization is using.

Our team engaged eThink for a solution that would be able to scale to a high number of concurrent users. The entire migration process was very well managed, with a dedicated project manager and a highly skilled technical team that was very responsive before, during and after the migration process. Our team was able to work with them to transition the site over the course of a weekend - but the pre-loading process took some weeks to upload a vast amount of data.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

There are no dislikes at this time. Overall we were very satisfied with the approach, the technology and the team. We lost some administrative access, but this was expected with a managed platform solution.

**Recommendations to others considering Open LMS:**

A stable platform, with rock solid expertise and backed by top notch support. It's incredible value for money and frees up our internal team to focus on other areas of online learning delivery.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were looking at solving concurrency, scale  and performance issues being faced with the previous on-prem solution . A solution was required that would scale quickly and perform consistently throughout the day, in order to support a massive online thrust to online learning with heavy synchronous activities.

Their implementation process was very well planned and executed, and they worked with us to understand and map out our existing systems and processes in order to reduce the transition from on-prem to their hosted solution.

 From our initial usage, their offering is rock solid in terms of reliability; the site performance is very fast and any tickets raised have been responded to very quickly.

eThink has kept our LMS running smoothly 99.9% of the time.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

Wait time has increased. Sometimes I get a response right away, but other times it takes a full day, or two, or even a week if the concern has to be forwarded to another person on their team. I think I waited a couple of weeks for a recent request.
On rare occasions, the customer support solution doesn't work, or isn't sufficient for my needs. I end up finding a better solution on my own. 
I don't always like having to wait 24 - 48 hours to have a plugin installed. There are times when I wish I could install a plugin right away.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Generally, we just need to figure out why an instructor or student is having an issue with the LMS activities and plugins. Often, it is just a setting adjustment that we figure out on our own. We reach out to OpenLMS when we've tried everything we can think of (and/or have researched to find an answer online). 
There are issues that crop up that we do not have access to investigate because of our limited admin permissions. Often, our limited access is probably for the best, because they have a team which comprises experts in all aspects of the LMS operations.

**What do you like best about Open LMS?**

I have had wonderful experiences working with eThink since I started my role nearly 2 years ago. I have worked with a few different support representatives in different capacities. I am not sure how my tickets are assigned, but it seems like my first point of contact is with Jordan DeGroot. Jordan is a pleasure to work with and offers tremendous customer service and advocacy. 

I have also participated in some of the professional development opportunities offered by eThink/OpenLMS. I am currently participating in the H5P Creator Course facilitated by Amy and Michael. I have seen at least two or three educational webinars from Amy Tessitore outside of the professional development course and she is also a pleasure to work with. I have worked in customer service in some form for the past 10 years and I am always impressed by the responsiveness of the eThink team. 

I have nothing but great things to say about my experiences with eThink.

I filled out a review probably a little over a year ago. The only dislike that I had thought of (it was a stretch to find something) was that I thought more things could be better resolved via phone call as opposed to email. 

Since my last review, I have hopped into a phone call a couple of different times with Jordan and have been able to tackle some more in-depth issues. 

The phone calls don't need to happen often because Jordan, more often than not, impressively resolves my tickets with his first response.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

eThink helps us with many problems. I am a Moodle Admin, Instructional Designer, & IT Services Supervisor for my institution.
In terms of Moodle, I am our front-line/first contact for technical troubleshooting and ID support. eThink offers front-end support for the more difficult problems over my head. They also offer design and back-end support for our entire site. They assist us throughout the Moodle upgrades each year. 

They assist us with integrating other third-party plugins that are uniquely a part of our Moodle environment. The support from eThink is seemingly limitless. There are too many benefits to mention. It is a wonderful and reliable service.

eThink's support services for Moodle LMS administrators are excellent. They respond very quickly and are swift in providing solutions for issues you may come across. They are also fabulous in offering advice and guidance on plugins and the best way to meet your needs based on what you are trying to achieve.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

Losing Moodle Partner status due to their merger is unfortunate and throttling of file size uploads to under 100MB removes the simplicty of submission of student work and staff resources.

**Recommendations to others considering Open LMS:**

1. eThink provide different levels of support to Moodle Admins, from the basic support for those who are frequent users of Moodle, to advanced support for those who need advanced support if the organisation is not as used to using it. 

2. Many admin settings are locked out from organisational admins unless you sign a disclosure.

3. File upload sizes are throttled and you have to pay more to allow for files larger than 100MB to be uploaded by staff and students. This forces you to use cloud storage options which may not be viable and adds to work required to submit work or add content.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been working on increasing student experience and navigation through useful plugins and CSS modifications, and eThink provided some valuable improvements and support to make this a reality. We are also exploring SIS integration and eThink have been great with aiding us in this project, too.

We are the in the process of migrating to Ethink. So far what I like best is how clearly everything is documented along the way. It's clear that the staff at Ethink have done this many times and they are clear on what parts they know and if they don't know something, they state that clearly and then research it to provide a good answer.

For us the price was a bit of a shock initially, but I believe the price is fair for the value that Ethink provides.

Our initial problem was limited storage space with Moodle Cloud. Ethink solves that problem and also many others like giving us a multi tenant feature, the ability to centrally make changes to our content and more.

The performance after migrating to eThink has been very stable, even during the times of highest use. The response times to support tickets is stellar, with professional and knowledgeable staff. In addition, eThink support looks ahead to complete updates and perform maintenance to prevent down time, yet are still very quick to respond if there is any down time.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

This really is not a "dislike", but rather a situation that users must become accustomed to. All administrative site level changes must be completed by eThink via support tickets. This can be challenging while setting up plugins or LTI integrations, however it has been pivotal in assuring the stability and security of the LMS.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This University was about ready to give up trying to use any LMS, until they migrated hosting and support to eThink. There were some changes (one described previously), however everyone agreed to the fantastic performance, stability, and support improvements after the migration. That has convinced even the most resistive faculty to use this LMS. The Fall term after the migration was the first time that this University did not experience any down time of their LMS during the first few weeks.

Prior to eThink we were just utilizing the tip-of-the-iceberg functionality of Moodle; now we are more fully leveraging it to accomplish our organization's needs, and are enhancing it all the time!

During the latest budget cuts, I was handed the LMS Administrator duties on top of my job as an Instructional Designer.  I don't even know what I would have done without the support of eThink during the transition and then moving forward.  I feel like they always have my back and they make me "look good" at my institution because 99% of the time, we find a timely solution to whatever issue is at hand.  The other thing I really appreciate is that even when my requests are sometimes short and curt due to my increased stress level, they always reply with positivity and friendliness.  I feel like connected to my support and that makes a difference when you have such a small team at your university.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

I sometimes get caught in the middle between our SIS system and our LMS system with a lot of unuseful fingerpointing.

eThink has been a powerful ally, especially during the Covid crisis when I was required to teach ALL of our faculty how to use Moodle effectively in a short period of time.  I have been able to meet all the demands placed on me to create all of the professional development trainings.

We made a major push in 2018 to update our Learning Management System and vendor.  After comparing all requirements, we selected Ethink and the totara product.  Ethink had the most flexibility and determination to meet all of our needs.  After realizing they would have to custom-build an integration for us, it was quickly and effectively done.

Since launching with Ethink, we have had a massive improvement in our user experience. The totara system and ethink service team means very rare outage or issue, and a quality product.  Love the reporting options and exam stability with totara.

Ethink staff are very friendly, prompt, reliable and expert in finding solutions.  I was extremely happy with our implementation team. They were quick and understood our requirements thoroughly, as if they were our own.  The service team is great too!  Fast and friendly, effective service.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

No concerns.  I echo another reviewer's comment that a phone option would be great for service tickets on occasion.

Couldn't be happier with the Ethink package.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had significant exam stability and system stability problems with our previous system, as well as useability issues.  Ethink's totara product is very stable, easy for our users and our staff. Reporting and exporting data is a cinch.  Our customized integration with the database does exactly what we need and is well-supported by the Ethink team (who built it from scratch!)

**What do you like best about Open LMS?**

Blackboard Open has a great feature called the personal learning designer which allows you to automate several actions within Moodle based on events that occur in the course. This tool has been useful for delivering timely messages to students and faculty term after term, and unlocking course activities based on grade received, it has very useful features we've used regularly since first adopting them as a provider.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

We've been with Open LMS since 2011 when they were originally Moodlerooms. Over that time, the support from the company degraded significantly. Frequently, issues we were having with the LMS are pushed back to us as something we were doing wrong when we clearly provided evidence otherwise. Cases will frequently go unanswered for multiple days at a time and require me to escalate them to the next level by involving our customer success manager. Blackboard's recent sale of their  platform to LTG leaves us hoping that more will be invested in the case of support but that remains to be seen. The final drawback we've had with  open LMS is their locked down, hashed system that is shared by multiple users. If you're looking for open access to your data, find another moodle host or expect to pay exorbitant fees to custom code a solution.

**Recommendations to others considering Open LMS:**

Blackboard Open has some nice features and is affordable but expect to have very limited access to your data via the system itself. Third oarty integrations are costly but can give you some access.

We've been able to serve, develop and manage courses for thousands of students since 2011. Blackboard open is also relatively inexpensive compared to proprietary vendors.

**What do you like best about Open LMS?**

eThink is the bar by which I compare all other vendors I work with. Collaborating with eThink is more like working with an internal team, one who shares your vision and commitment to quality. They quickly respond to needs, are willing to work through multiple different solutions, and are populated by people who are exceptionally personal and immensely knowledgeable. We value their willingness to listen, be open about Moodle and associated vendors, and ability to recommend additional resources to help solve complex problems. I cannot recommend eThink highly enough. If you are in the need for a LMS they support they are the premier choice.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

The only thing I disliked was an issue with their previous host, Rackspace. Now that eThink has moved to a more premier host I have nothing worth noting.

eThink is a premier vendor that acts more like an internal team than an external vendor. If you are looking for a product maintained by a top notch team that helps you realize your LMS vision then I cannot recommend eThink highly enough.

eThink has made our management of the LMS much easier. We have a better update process, and get to update at a schedule that works best for us, which allows us to add new features for our faculty and students at a much faster pace. We spend less time hunting down issues as eThink's support is quick, informed, and shares our sense of urgency to resolve issues. Our faculty and students seem to appreciate that our LMS is better than it has been at any point in the past.

We were put in a really terrible situation with another provider that half way thru continued to fail to be able to deliver a working solution. 3 weeks before we planned to migrate to our new platform we connected with Ethink and gave them a ridiculous amount of requirements. They not only delivered our MVP requirements, but in addition we were able to deliver a myriad of additional features and functionality. We were impressed also by there extremely organized approach unlike our previous experience.

The team is sometimes conservative in what can be done or what can be delivered, however, in my experience they always over deliver and exceed expectations.

eThink has worked with us since 2014, to provide the best user experience possible for our students and faculty. eThink Moodle is fully integrated with our back-end systems allowing for daily sync of all data. Their response time and attention to every ticket has only improved over the years. eThink  continuously supports our customization which has had positive impact on student access to resources and tools to support their success.
The eThink support staff consistently provides excellent service when responding to help tickets. Their attention to detail, their knowledge of best practices and how others have used tools in unique applications to meet new campus needs, the advice on +/- ratings on plug-in tools, as well as textbook integrations and other products  have saved us time and effort over the years. After working with and managing 3 LMS products over the past 19 years, I can state that eThink is the best hosting and support group I have ever encountered.
We have been able to add several plug-ins which link Hoonuit (formerly Atomic Learning), Respondus (lock down browser), text book plug-ins. Yet eThink also has cautioned us to not use products where they have seen major problems - i.e. textbook plug-in which are not properly secured or have failed for other uses.

**What do you dislike about Open LMS?**

There really isn't anything I dislike about eThink or the employees I have worked with since 2014. They have consistently improved service and resources.

**What problems is Open LMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Auto course/roster creation, as well as  updates of add/drop 
Our Moodle site hosts incoming student placement tests which are linked to an automated registration checklist. This keeps the admissions process in the hands of the incoming students and requires very little intervention by IT,  admissions or student affairs.

Once students declare a major, they are auto-added to the appropriate professional development resource course rosters.

We also deliver most faculty and staff development materials via our Moodle site. 
We have used it for campus-wide surveys and offered training materials to campus via Moodle which is a very simple process.

Two things stand out for me about eThink, whom we have used as our Moodle provider since approximately 2014. First, their service is first rate. Not only do they provide and host our Moodle site on their service, they wrote and managed a personalized enrollment sync that creates categories and courses and manages enrollment of faculty and students into these courses on a daily basis. Second, their support whenever issues arrive is unparalleled. I've never had such a good experience, and we're on our third Moodle LMS provider at this point. They answer calls and emails immediately, make fixes or adjustments quickly, and are polite and helpful while they do it. I highly recommend them for you educational organization.

There really is not anything I dislike about eThink. Any educational institution would do well to engage with them and see what they can do for you.

eThink's project plan process was effective in capturing our requirements for the LMS. There was a clear path to implementation and going live, and they provided quality training for our admins. Their prompt response times for support tickets is well above the line. Staff are always very helpful and professional, even with customizing certain LMS features such as reports.

Nothing to dislike! Moodle itself can be a little confusing since it has so many features and is extremely customizable, but I have no concerns in this department.
