**What do you like best about iMIS?**

iMIS accommodates complex billing structures better than any other system I have encountered. AutoPay is now built-in, and dues collection is becoming easier and easier. Recent improvements to database make working in iMIS faster and more efficient. Customer Support is also quite good.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

Still a long and steep learning curve to handle the inevitable exceptions to anything that is not simple.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting our dues billing and collections right is always a challenge when there are so many permutations for member types, categories, chapters, and voluntary donations. iMIS accommodates them all, giving me confidence that our members are billed correctly and the accounting is clean. Communications with members is also accommodated cleanly and efficiently.

iMIS has proven to be an invaluable asset for our organization, specifically in maintaining a highly organized and efficient member database. Its robust features have streamlined several of our core operations:

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

I like that iMIS is customizable and flexible, allowing us to change the naming of modules, create custom workflows, and automate processes. The software's power in terms of integrations and add-ons is a significant advantage, especially if a feature isn't a core feature out-of-the-box. This flexibility lets iMIS match our business rules rather than forcing us to adapt to it. It's our one source of truth, handling data efficiently, keeping it organized and clean, and giving us a holistic view of our member organizations and their related employees.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

The technical understanding of iMIS can be a bit challenging. With all the flexibility and comprehensive features it offers, there's a lot to learn, especially if you don't use the system in its default state. Customizing it and creating custom workflows can feel taxing just to achieve a simple process automation. A lot of HTML/CSS/SQL knowledge is required for RiSE, Process automation, and IQA query creation.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use iMIS for handling and organizing data, offering a holistic view of our member organizations and employees. It's our one source of truth, customizable, flexible, and powerful with integrations, allowing us to match it to our business rules.

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

The IQA system and panel creation features, along with the excellent Form Builder tool, really stand out. iMIS makes it much easier to create IQAs, extract information, and generate reports compared to other systems I have used. The user-friendly front-end designer and tools are also easy to navigate. Implementing new features is practical, and the customer support is excellent.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

There's a lot of things that would be great to have, without having to purchase extra services or integrations. Another thing that stands out, would be to be able to delete questions from events, that way if your copying an event from a prior year, you can just delete the questiosn that you don't need, and leave the ones that you do.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data Warehousing sounds like something we could use once it's available. I'm not sure if for the 2026 or 2027 year, but definetely would be worth to take a look at it at some point.

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

IMIS is a very useful tool that we, as a UK charity, rely on to track and manage all of our membership, website, and event bookings. The system features an excellent API, which allows us to integrate a variety of other systems directly into IMIS. Combined with a robust SSO, this setup provides users with a seamless experience as they navigate between connected systems.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

The Rise website system is effective, but it lacks some of the polish found in leading platforms on the market. However, its integration with IMIS allows for alternative systems to be connected with relative ease.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a UK charity, we have more than 200,000 registered users. Through our IMIS system and its connected app, our users are able to access our 40,000 assets, as well as the Makaton User Chat space, which is maintained within our Higher Logics Community area.

Our organization adopted iMIS to replace our outdated Microsoft Access database and bring our data management into the 21st century. This management system has enabled us to collect data seamlessly and has provided the flexibility to customize the platform according to our specific requirements. Additionally, iMIS integrates effectively with third-party applications and offers support for open APIs.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

While iMIS generally handles a wide range of functions, from membership and donations to certifications and events, our organization has customized the system so much that it's not being used for it's initial intention. This has caused headaches when updates occur and when we need assistance.

iMIS has helped our organization modernize and adapt to the demands of the 21st century. With this platform, we can effectively meet both our own needs and those of our clients. Personally, using iMIS has broadened my technological skills and increased my value within the company.

iMIS provided consolidated database complete with reporting options that can be managed by end-users.  It was also highly customisable for less common industry while maintaining good standards.  The experience with technical support has been very positive.

The website can get a bit complicated to build and maintain.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

iMIS enabled members to view and maintain membership details.  As well as regular report submissions.  However those required integration with Sonic Forms and customisations.

I like iMIS because it makes managing memberships simple and efficient. Features like persisted cash invoices, unique invoice numbers, and detailed reporting ensure accurate records, save time, and make it easy to track billing history. It streamlines our processes, reduces errors, and gives our team confidence that member data is always organized and reliable

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

The badge reporting in the Events Module.  There should be a template to select for the different size and badge reports without needing custamization.

Badge prints.  We are looking a "Business Report Writer" to help with printing badges for our conferences

The clear data reports. It gives you confidence in the data integrity. The tracking of historical data, non-member data, etc. is also beneficial.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

We have an in-house administrator but I know if can be difficult for associations without that expertise on staff to manage it at times as it is very complex. While we have become comfortable with the new subscription based online version, we do miss the desktop because it put you that much closer to the data.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a fully integrated system is very helpful as is trusting the information tracking capabilities.

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

I like that iMIS has been one of the longest-running AMS systems on the market, which provides a sense of reliability and longevity in service. The extensive support and vendor network that backs iMIS is something I truly appreciate since it offers a robust community of iMIS users ready to assist and provide support whenever needed. This network gives me confidence in managing and troubleshooting any issues that may arise. I also value the integration capabilities of iMIS with our existing systems. For instance, we employ bridge software developed by iMIS partner companies to smoothly connect iMIS with third-party systems like Blue Sky Path LMS and GoToWebinar. This allows seamless data transfer between iMIS and these platforms, enhancing our overall operational efficiency. Over the years, iMIS has demonstrated a variety of impressive capabilities and functions that are crucial for managing our association's technical aspects, from member records and events to powering our RiSE-based website effectively. As the product evolves, I am optimistic that any existing issues will improve, which makes me look forward to future updates.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

I find the finance and accounting components of the iMIS software problematic, especially when it comes to dues billing, invoicing, and handling common financial transactions for our members. These aspects don't work as well in the newest version of iMIS (EMS) compared to the prior version (iMIS 2017). This has caused ongoing struggles and necessitates relying heavily on support from ASI and others to troubleshoot these issues. Additionally, the transition to the newest version of iMIS took several months to prepare for and implement, which may be challenging for established associations upgrading from a previous iMIS version.

**Recommendations to others considering iMIS:**

For associations that desire to manage all of their data operations through one product, iMIS is a great product with all of the major functions built into the product.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use iMIS to manage association's tech needs, from member records to events. It integrates with our LMS and webinar software, enhancing data flow. However, financial components in iMIS EMS need improvement; we rely heavily on support to address billing and invoicing issues.

I have been using iMIS for over 20 years, and it serves as the core software for running the operations of associations. I appreciate its capability as a highly customizable and powerful application, specifically designed for associations and nonprofits. I find the broad customization options and features of iMIS incredibly supportive of our specific business needs, along with its outstanding usability and scalability. iMIS excels at managing sales of memberships, subscriptions, and registrations and efficiently syncs this financial information into the general ledger. It effectively supports specific membership rules, making organizational operations more approachable. I am particularly impressed by its ability to manage multiple entities, like associations and foundations, effortlessly. Additionally, I find the integration with external tools generally seamless, enhancing the overall impact of iMIS. The system's adaptability in handling various financial transactions and use cases without difficulty is invaluable, and I appreciate that it's continually evolving, with ASI adopting user requests for improvements. The platform's consistent expansion through new features shared in Sprint reviews and roadmap sessions assures me that my investment in iMIS will continue to deliver increasing value over time.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

The current version of iMIS, called EMS, lacks some tools that were available in earlier versions, such as SQL statements like Stored Procedures. This limitation in supporting common SQL statements in their iQA's affects the application's power and value. Additionally, there is a need for iMIS to focus on improving its UX and include these missing SQL features to enhance its utility. Hopefully, these areas will be addressed in the future.

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

After spending a year evaluating different platforms, we ultimately chose the iMS EMS due to its robust capabilities and the confidence that it will scale alongside our organization as we grow. One of the most important factors for us was providing our members with single sign-on access to all our services. The integration among iMIS/ASI products works very well, and the ability to connect our external platforms to the iMIS system through a REST API ensures our members enjoy a seamless experience.

The implementation team has also been incredible - no question is too trivial and if the person on our team didn't have the answer, they sought it out from the SMEs and we generally had the solution the same day.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

At first, getting started with the platform felt overwhelming—the iMIS EMS is truly a powerful system. While it offers a wide range of capabilities, this also means there is a significant amount of data mapping involved, making the configuration process quite time-consuming and demanding. The upside, however, is that this configuration is typically a one-time effort.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Where we were previously operating across six separate databases and a series of spreadsheets, this system has allowed us to streamline the management of these organizations in a single space saving our team time and making us more agile.

One of the features we love most is the ability to create and manage a member website that serves as a one-stop hub for all of our members’ resources and needs.

We use iMIS every day across all areas of our operations, and it has become an essential part of how we manage and serve our community. Increase more flexibility with more and more softwares and increase AI involvement highly

We are getting more options for automation which is great as it helps our Customer Service in less work and more productive. We are also using it on reporting and member management which has been made more accessible to manage multiple entities within the association, members, chapters, employees, etc. We are bringing courses and events back in IMIS and building member profiles with all the information under one page which is great. So far the experience has been great, soon we will be launching our member portal.

The format of the reference data in the GL Export.  We do not need to see our name (ACM) in those details. This takes up precious room.  
However I like the batch number, it is helpful.

The iMIS AMS system offers a lot of flexibility to manage our Members, the Engagement Data capability saves us time and allows us to identify rising leaders and those who need encouragement.

The documentation on tools often leaves out critical steps for someone trying something the first time.

Largely a good system, must make sure it meets your needs

Efficiencies of time, many capabilities in one system. The Engagement data system has been very productive for us in selecting future leaders and more effectively supporting those we identify as less engaged.

That said, one ongoing challenge as an experienced iMIS user is my personal pace and knowledge with adapting to broader industry changes and rapidly advancing technology. iMIS can facilitate nearly any solution you may need as a non-profit association. It provides the most common tools out of the box, while more uncommon solutions are available as add-ons from trusted partners that offer easy integration.

Written documentation of the software is robust for casual users, but I have found that documentation for more technical tasks is often lacking. This seems to be more of an issue in older versions of the product, but since the new cloud version internalizes many technical tasks, it is less of a problem for new implementations.

**Recommendations to others considering iMIS:**

I strongly recommend connecting with NiUG International, the users group for iMIS users. There you can find professionals that use the software every day, including Authorized iMIS Service Providers, who can help you make the most of iMIS.

The included features include the ability to use the bridge feature to connect to other applications. The standard features and parts make it flexiable enough to meet most of an assocation needs. The ASI support/help page and adding the learning hub allows you to continue to learn and can aswer most questions regarding how to get the most of the software and train new and current employees.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

While it is an easy database to use and can be changed to meet an associations needs, if you do to much custom changes, it does make it harder to update when required. You need to really plan out the impact of custom work and weigh the benefits of using non-standard parts to the long term use of the software. Sometimes it's strengh in being flexable can turn into a weaknees.

We are an association management company, so we use the software for two of our clients. We are currently using the software to manage the active members, members in process and certification requirements.

I’m an intern and still pretty new to using iMIS, but it’s been surprisingly easy to adapt to. The platform is well-organized and user-friendly, which makes navigating through tasks like managing member info or checking reports smooth. What I really appreciate is the amount of helpful content available — their support pages, training courses, and guides make learning the system a lot easier. It’s a great tool for anyone getting started in association management.

One notable drawback is the lack of an integrated support ticketing module. ASI Support is always prompt and very effective whenever we have questions or an issue arises. Our association has been using iMIS 2017 by ASI for several years now, and it has played a key role in modernizing how we manage membership, events, and communications. The system offers a robust set of tools designed specifically for associations, allowing us to centralize data, automate workflows, and improve the member experience.

Partnering with ISG Solutions made all the difference. Their deep knowledge of the iMIS platform and their experience working with associations has allowed for ongoing optimization. iMIS does have a learning curve. It’s a powerful system, but without proper planning or a knowledgeable partner, the configuration can become complex. The out-of-the-box functionality isn’t always plug-and-play, and some features may require additional development or third-party integrations to fully meet your goals.

Still, with ISG Solutions by our side, we’ve been able to overcome those hurdles and get the most out of iMIS. We’ve seen improved member engagement, more efficient internal processes, and better visibility into our data and performance metrics.

iMIS really makes querying your database a breeze. If you know where your membership data is, an IQA can find it and display it in just about any way you'd like. You don't even have to know any SQL to do it! The tool is very user friendly.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

It's pretty vast; like, it covers every area an association might need. That can make it a little daunting to learn, especially if you're new to the iMIS scene or association world.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a iMIS consultant, it doesn't solve my problems directly. But I see it solve my clients' problems every day. Just today, I helped set up an automated communication to be sent out once a month to members whose dues payments are past due, freeing up the Membership team from thinking about that and allowing them to devote their time and labor elsewhere. That task will run monthly, and it's powered by queries that automatically pick up when a member is 30, 60, or 90 days past due.

Other clients are being brought forward into a modern software environment, allowing them to access their iMIS databases from any computer with a secure Internet connection. Association employees can work from just about anywhere (within reason).

The modular approach to the software lets us take advantage of the functionality we need without extras that we wouldn't use. The wide range of features allows us to handle most business functions from one integrated platform. Our iMIS reseller, ISG Solutions, LLC, has been with us from the start of our iMIS journey 20+ years ago and has been an indispensable partner throughout.

In the desktop version, which we are still using, the workflow is not always intuitive and the database table structures can be redundant.

We have seen a drastic reduction of manual tasks. The automated processes allow us to spend time on other work. Also IMIS can integrate with many other products which is also a great time and effort saving for us. The online help and videos are superb and we have now incorporated them into our own new staff training.

It can be a little frustrating to have to pay for different modules, on top of the already high licence costs. We recently moved from 2017 to EMS and some functionality is no longer available.

IMIS provides us with secure data management. It is easy to manage users and members alike. We can automate many routine tasks such as invoicing and reporting, as well as member joining and renewal processes. The transition to iMIS has been great. Having the ability to build relationships with your implementation team so that they really understand your needs and can help problem solve has probably been the best part of our experience. They respect the budget we set forward, and while they educate us about how their other products would help, there is no pressure to purchase anything and stay within the parameters you have set. They have been incredible cheerleaders for our organization and staff throughout this process.

The software itself is great. Our organization has been on the hunt for something that really does it all, and I think we have found it with iMIS. We can manage our memberships, sponsorships, conferences, education, and more all in one space and there is no fear that we will outgrow the software as our Association grows.

Implementation is a bit daunting, but the support you receive from the team helps a lot. It can also be quite technical with queries and reporting, but once you figure it out, it's not so bad. There are a ton of online resources available.

iMIS is helping us to create a ton of efficiecies in our processes that are going to benefit both internal and external members. We have also been able to preserve all of our historical data in the system, which is a huge bonus.

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

We have been using iMIS for over 20 years. We upgraded to the Cloud version this year. It is easy to use and navigate. It serves all of our needs from membership, products, event registrations, and advertising. Every panel/section of iMIS is customizable to meet your needs. We love using and modifying the dashboards to track goals for membership, event registrations, award programs, orders, and financial information.  Another thing we love is the process automation. We use it to send dues invoices, confirmations, invoices, reports to staff and alerts on member records.

Customer support is very responsive and helpful. Their documentation and tutorial videos have been a lifesaver.

You won't be disappointed with this purchase.   5 stars!!

The IQA reports and process automation have a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, they are easy to use.

Keeping everything in one place, keeping track of history, payments, etc..

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

We chose iMIS because, unlike some other association management systems we reviewed, it would let us customize the database and business processes to fit our needs. We also found the ability to integrate iMIS with MailChimp and other 3rd party applications very useful.
ASI is continuously improving iMIS to meet the request of the user base. They are also moving to integrate iMIS with Microsoft’s Power Automate and Power Bi services.
iMIS has an AI assistance feature that can be used to answer basic questions. The ASI Support Desk is also available for more complex problems

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

iMIS has a fairly steep learning curve, but there are several consulting services available to assist with training and implementation. In addition, the online documentation for the product is excellent, and there is also a training portal with in-depth classes available.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

iMIS has allowed us to consolidate several different databases (mailing lists, donor lists, membership lists, etc.) into a single system. It also tracks the engagement of members through criteria that we have developed. This is allowing us to make better decisions and communication plans.

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

The project team was excellent to work with at iMIS. I find their help desk and ticketing system to be prompt as well. The user interface for staff and registrants is easy to manage and customize. The go-live process was clear and concise.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

iMIS is produced as an out of the box solution and covers many of the needs a basic organization may have. However, if you require adjustments to any process it can be challenging to meet your exact specifications. The implementation process was straightforward but required a signifcant amount of staff time to ensure it was done correctly.

**What problems is iMIS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

iMIS has enabled us to gather and analyze significant pieces of data quicker and easier than our previous platform. It has enabled us to have unique dashboards for every department.

Potential to be a robust system, allows for a lot of customization if you have a strong coding background

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

Overly complex and requires a great deal of coding and database understanding due to the IQA model, it is not easy for average staff users to use, the hosted environment tends to be quite slow on the user and staff interface, it takes a lot of custom coding to fully brand the site, the product is very expensive.

Ease of extracting data using IQA's (after intitially learning how to extract the data).  Once you know the keys to unlocking data, the reports and charts have unlimitled possibilities.

Need to have better training guides, as the system is so powerful, there needs to be a more concise paths of learning.

Having a one stop shop for data collection and event registration, as well has having an interactive web presense for our membership to stay engaged.

**What do you like best about iMIS?**

Easy to Navigate - The platform is not only easy to navigate but also quite intuitive.  Less tech-savvy users are able to use it with no issues.

Customization - We can tailor the modules for our own needs and use RiSE to formulate queries to produce reports unique to our organization.

Broad Range of Functions - iMIS covers a wide range of useful features - from membership management to case file management to event planning.  

Support - The Customer support team is always ready to respond to an email or jump on a call.

In summary, after using iMIS every day for over 3 years now, it has significantly improved our efficiency and productivity. The out of box package was very easy to implement and integrate with our existing tools. I would recommend it to any organization seeking a versatile and adaptable management tool.

**What do you dislike about iMIS?**

There is a bit of a learning curve when creating queries and producing reports. However, iMIS has an online training center that can assist with all of that.

My biggest dislike?  That it took so long for my organization to find iMIS!!

Member Engagement - IMIS is benefiting us through creating enhanced Member Engagement - they have tools targeting communication and personalized interactions, which has led to higher member interaction and awareness.

Contacts - They are much easier to find and keep current.

Data Extraction - iMIS provides the ability to customize queries to find the exact info we need and not sift through unnecessary data.

Events - It's a great tool to help register our members for events.  The days of spreadsheet tracking and human error have been removed.

As a daily user of iMIS, I’ve come to appreciate its extensive features and the impact it’s had on my day-to-day work. iMIS has streamlined much of our data management and reporting processes and streamlining internal procedures, which is critical for our organization since we handle complex membership information and frequently generate detailed reports.
One of the standout features is the ability to customize reports with ease. The report builder is flexible enough to tailor reports to specific metrics, which has been a game-changer. It also supports a range of integrations, which makes data synchronization seamless with other tools we use. I find the user interface clean and relatively intuitive; once you get used to the setup, navigating through modules becomes second nature.

Another huge benefit is automation. iMIS automates a lot of routine tasks, like membership renewal notifications and event registration tracking. This has saved hours of manual work every week and has also reduced errors, which were common with manual data entry.
