iMIS is highly customizable and able to handle a large amount of data. I've worked with various versions for the past 13 years, and there have been and continue to be significant improvements. The newest version - iMIS Cloud - is much more user friendly than previous desktop versions. I'm particularly excited about the new Report Writer and Formbuilder tools, as well as our ability to easily integrate other software solutions. Customer service at ASI, the company who publishes iMIS, is fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a definite learning curve for new staff, especially those with little or no previous database experience. Although iMIS Cloud is better than previous desktop versions, it's not what I would call simple to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the ability to customize data fields and leverage the power and flexibility of IQA queries. You can pull data any way you want it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a steep learning curve, especially with the IQA queries. We've also noticed slow load time intermittently. Errors seem to pop up with some regularity, but support is usually able to help resolve. We have experienced multiple days of downtime due to a recent security hack. Also, scheduling emails is very cumbersome. I would recommend using a separate email platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We had a unique set of needs for a CRM and iMIS delivered! We have been able to customize the back end and hook other programs up using API. It has made our processes so much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There was a bit of a learning curve when getting the system set up, but once you get the hang of it, it's fairly easy to navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The robust functionality of iMIS is one of the things I like best. There are so many options available for the end-user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some limitations, however, you can always customize to meet your needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have been transitioning everyday functions from iMIS desktop to iMIS cloud and I really enjoy the customization of iMIS cloud features. We can create reports easy, set up staff friendly dashboards to keep applications organized and the candidate facing applications pages are easily accessible and editable through the cloud. I also think the IQA's are easy to use and build and the Process Automation feature is a great one to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are far more clicks to get to certain areas of the account information in comparison to iMIS desktop. I wish there was a more streamlined approach to a members information. We also needed to create a lot of custom pieces with a 3rd party to meet our needs as an organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its multi functionalities and planning. The fact that it has the capabilities to bring our departments together into one unit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The error messages, but they are far a few in-between. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the fact that iMIS is very flexibility. I can have a vision and can build it. Our staff site changes weekly to meet the needs of our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The fact that there isn't a way for one person to be connected to multiple companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We can customize to fit our process and our business needs. The variety of modules and areas you can serve up from iMIS is great for membership based organizations. We don't need lots of different applications or software to do most of what we need and we can do custom integrations to our website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The learning process to figure out how to customize and accessing all the different data can take a bit to learn. There is so much you can do but it takes digging to do so. I wish the commerce side for products was a little more robust where things like discounts and special pricing/packaging isn't available within the set of solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Large customer base, strong third party developer partners and an excellent "independent" user group. Upgrading to new versions is always an easy process when new technologies create enhancements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Learning the reporting system can be daunting and time consuming at first but once learned is powerful. Modules can be very pricey for smaller associations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My company has been on iMIS for almost 20 years. We love the fact that we can do almost everything with iMIS and don't have to have lots of different systems to accomplish all of our tasks. We use iMIS for our membership database, event registration, website, invoicing, book sales, revenue uploading to a separate accounting system, automated emails, volunteer and award tracking, dashboards, reporting and fundraising.
We have seen approximately a 30% decrease in our annual fees since transitioning to iMIS Cloud. We are no longer paying separate fees for hosting and the yearly subscription and it’s nice to have it all in one payment. We used to pay thousands of dollars to undergo an upgrade and would fall behind because it was so cost-prohibitive. It used to take so much time preparing for an upgrade and then testing afterwards. Now, with automatic upgrades, we are always on the latest version, have access to the latest features and we don’t have to go through all that prep work that comes with a major upgrade.
Our cost for third-party support has decreased as well by having a basic level of support included with our iMIS Cloud subscription. We have been happy with the support that ASI has been providing – they are very helpful and friendly. ASI has a great help site with how-to documentation and short training videos which helps us when we need a quick answer.
For new staff members it is nice to only have to train them on one system (staff site) and not the desktop. It is sleek and modern, and we can do everything on the staff site that we could do on the desktop.
As a small staff, we do not have an IT person in-house and we don’t have a staff member dedicated solely to iMIS. Being in the cloud puts our mind at ease, as we know that ASI is taking care of backups, PCI compliance and security. Upgrading to the full cloud forced us to clean up our database and let go of some old customizations. Adapting to out-of-the-box solutions has made our system easier to manage which is important for our small team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
3rd party support is expensive and is hit or miss. There is no easy way to customize an event ticket out of the box if you are not familiar with SSRS reports. There is no easy way to register a table for events. Some processes are a bit clunky and sometimes don't work for no apparent reason and then they will work the next day. No OOTB solution for members to save payment information and auto-renewal memberships. The website can be finnicky at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use, great customer support, ability to create customized reports, integrating reports into our website, excellent - excellent online training on how to use the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The worksheet used for data conversion was difficult to understand - but the implementation team was very helpful. Also, some of the RISE templates had default settings that needed to be changed that I didn't realize until after we were live, but again, support was quickly able to pinpoint the issue so it could be corrected. The software is easy to use and frequent service packs released time to time with improvements functionality. Regular iMIS webinars would be there to keep you updated with upcoming features and new functionalities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes this software gets hung or behave weird way. Not good for large data organizations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The most helpful part of iMIS is how customizable it can be if you are intentional and take the time to build out the structure you need. There are plenty of features that can be used out of the box but there is a way to tailor the tables, fields, etc. to exactly how your organization needs to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is the other side of the same coin - what I like best about iMIS can also be what is most difficult. Because iMIS can be so customizable, it is easy to create something with good intentions but then if you did not think big picture and long term about how things need to be used and how things need to evolve, it is very difficult to undo things down the road. Since it can get rather complex, you must know the system AND your data intimately in order to manage it most effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The flexibility of the software to accommodate most any setup for associations. The buillt-in query function (IQA) also provides for a lot of flexibility in retrieving data without having to rely on a third party product. Also, the built-in CMS function makes creating a website that is fully integrated with the iMIS database much easier to create and maintain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The conversion of iMIS to a fully web-based program has taken much longer than expected which has caused frustration for many iMIS customers. The learning curve is longer than it should be. Would be helpful to have more practical 'nuts & bolts' documentation (e.g,, iMIS for Dummies.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
iMIS holds all of our data and we are able to get everything out of it we need. The product is continuously getting better, and if it doesn't have a feature we're looking for, it can integrate with something else that has that feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes, it can be a bit clunky if you're not on the newest version of the platform. There are also very specific ways to report, and you need training in order to do this. I believe they are working on this now, though, and it will be easier in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has a lot of out of the box elements that work and create an easy to use environment. There are lots of resellers that also provide customization that can help get things just the way that you need them. The move to the cloud and more regular releases of updates shows that ASI is invested in improving and bringing new elements to the table. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can sometimes be hard to configure things just the way you want out of the box requiring a customized solution. I find it hardest to evaluate new features and updates to elements that we have customized since staff become so used to it one way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to organize your data visually; lots of ways to integrate your data with other companies, but a lot can be done within iMIS with its various modules. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a lot to learn (but there are a lot of great resources!). You need to know the basics of how databases work and are organized if you want to be successful and learn the higher level features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pros:
Easy to use
Friendly user interface
Easy customization
Easy to run queries and obtain data trends
Very good to generate reports for KPIs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Remote Desktop is a little clunky and you need to contact customer service quite often whenever you hit a snag. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
iMIS is available on the cloud through a web based page making it easy to use and view. The dashboards in each section (membership, events, commerce etc.) provide a quick snap-shot of your business and can be configured the way you want them. Versatile, informative and useful the software works well for purpose organisations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The out the box product is helpful, but one you know of all the capabilities you want it to be customised NOW, which naturally isn't possible. It's worth the wait in getting it to where you want it to be for your use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is a small thing but I like that the fields will capitalize the first letter in a word when appropriate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Copy and paste in and out of iMIS you must use the mouse. There are also not many shortcut keys. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is easy to use and great capacity, you can use most of out of box function without any customization. Easy to edit website and use on the browser version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't see the downside or dislike about iMIS, so far we found it is pretty easy to use and great functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
