Gusto makes payroll easy and very fast. For our nonprofit, it’s straightforward to enter employee hours across several different grants. The reporting is customizable, which helps me pull exactly what our grant managers want to see. Pricing is clear, simple, and cost-effective. Reporting on specific grants isn’t easy. We treat different grants as “jobs” within Gusto, but I’ve found that “jobs” isn’t available as a reportable field in the reports I want to run. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use Gusto to log my hours as a 1099 contractor, and it saves me from having to manually log my hours via a spreadsheet. The time-tracking is so simple. I can either 'Clock in' to start tracking my time automatically, or manually input my hours into the time tracker. Either way, it auto-saves my time so I don't have to remember to hit 'save'. At the end of the week, I don't have to submit anything; it automatically submits my timesheet. Moving solely as a contractor and just submitting via Gusto makes it so easy. There is nothing I dislike at this time, but if I were to say something, it would be that it sometimes logs me out mid-time tracking so I have to make sure I recall when I started working. I use Gusto at work to clock in and keep track of my pay and hours, which is really helpful. I love the quick pin for clocking in and out; it saves me the hassle of remembering long passwords. I also really appreciate being able to see how much my paycheck will be before it hits my account. Gusto gives me the opportunity to check my hours before payroll is submitted to ensure there are no mistakes, which ensures I get all my pay when I'm supposed to. I really like Gusto because it's intuitive and affordable, which is important for our nonprofit with limited staff time and budget. I find their documents feature to be somewhat unintuitive, and it seems like we're very often uploading the same documents for employees to review and sign. I’ve always liked how easy Gusto is to use. I especially appreciate being able to clock my hours retroactively, which makes things a lot easier for me. I don’t have any major dislikes about Gusto at this point. From what I’ve seen, it’s a well-regarded platform. What I don’t like about Gusto is that it can feel limited when you need more customized features or complex reporting. Some tasks that should be simple—like making adjustments or pulling specific reports—can take extra steps. It can also get expensive as you add more employees or features, and customer support isn’t always as quick or hands-on as I’d like when something urgent comes up. One thing I wish Gusto had the capability of was to notify supervisors if something has happened that is not in compliance with company policy. For example, if an employee is clocked in for longer than 5 hours without taking a break, it would be great if this were flagged for me so that I could respond accordingly, instead of the painstaking process of going through each payroll timesheet one by one. I like the smooth process of running payroll. It has simple steps I can follow to get it finished. The website is very simple and organized. Onboarding new employees is also simplified, but it still walks me through everything we need to enter in just a few steps. Also customer support has been very helpful in times of need. My weekly use is not over whelming as things are step by step in each sections for payroll with time and attendance and imputing tips and switching employees to check or direct deposit. I learned to use the website in a few training sessions and implementing this into my new weekly routine has been pretty smooth overall making my job smother and less stressful. I have trouble finding some areas. For example, the toggle for employees to be set to satellite when working over 10-hour shifts can be hard to locate. As a nonprofit employer, we’ve used five different payroll companies over the years. I heard about Gusto from a friend and, after reading reviews, decided to make the switch. Gusto has been even better than I expected. The platform is highly intuitive and offers enough policy flexibility to support a range of HR needs.
