The ability to collaborate on any particular idea prototyping online with ease is the most helpful feature of Framer. The code in Framer prototypes is directly usable on live projects, saving time and effort to write similar design codes again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find the coding part most challenging to go through while using this application. Furthermore, the interface and workflow are still a bit confusing for new users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The flexibility and logic based interactions. The sky is the limit Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's webkit based, so native mobile features (haptic touch, camera, etc...) are not accessible. The design tab is not where it needs to be yet for production use, but quickly getting there. Modules and organization of modules is a bit fractured and hard to keep track of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This software is capable of so much! You can literally prototype any interaction imaginable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a little complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it all makes sense Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is extremely flexible in what you can do with motion design. Unlike Principle, this software tool is incredibly robust and gives the user a total control on what they are designing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has a steep learning curve. The programming part of it throws most people off. Although after spending a few hours one would realize that the programming is not that intense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is easy to get started. The layout is fairly intuitive and it resembles other tools, making it more familiar. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It requires some degree of understanding in interaction design and programming to get going fast, and off the ground running. If you have no technical background it might pose an extra step. Not terrible though. If you are of a learning spirit it is a good way to learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Framer Studio is my go-to prototyping tool. Using coffeescript, it allows anyone to build mobile or desktop prototypes that feel like the real thing. The tool offers in-depth documentation, snippets, instant code and many other useful features. Framer Studio also integrates with your go-to design tool, like Sketch and Photoshop, for easy importing of files. You can also use the Framer app on your iOS device to view your mobile prototypes in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a beginner programmer, Framer Studio has a steep learning curve. However, they do a great job of supporting a large resource library and boast a really active community. In the future, I would love to see Framer Studio replace my design software so I can design+prototype in the same tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When you have a prototype up and running, the code output is what makes the difference with framer. It bridges a gap between front end and developers. This means that devs get a more precise idea of what you're attempting to design with motion especially. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a UI designer with just basic HTML experience, the learning curve is kind of steep. Also, this is very much for designers who have a solid grasp of front end coding and css concepts. It's also written in a language of it's own that's supposed to be easier to pick up- but how easy it is to pick up is going to depend on the designer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really like the ability to tweak the interaction parameters, write and edit code to customize the animations. It's a great tool for those who don't afraid of coding, however you don't really need to know how to code, but it extends your possibilities greatly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The learning curve is somewhat steep, but on the other hand there are already lots of resources. You'll need to know Coffee Script to get the most out of the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is fantastic documentation and a solid community surrounding the product. The open code base means many people add to the libraries and create plugins. It's a great in between for higher fidelity mockups and has really helped improve the workflow of our product development process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Requires some coding knowledge, which is not a problem, but adds to the learning curve. However, it's worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the function for import design from Sketch and the new possibility to create prototype without write code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Basically I like everything, I don't use it anymore only because I don't need to make complicated prototypes so Principle fits for me better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Framer Studio is 100% code based, which enables developers and designers alike to literally create anything they can imagine, as there is no limitation in terms of a pre-built library of animations, interactions and such. It allows anyone with some code-skills to communicate with high precision and fidelity their ideas to stakeholders and engineering. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's a fairly steep learning curve if you want to get into Framer Studio, as it's fully code based. Framer does provide a very well documented library and a ton of resources to get new users going though. But from time to time it can be frustrating to not figure out why something isn't working right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Framer makes it possible for UX designers to showcase their design in an easier way. It is really good for professionals to express their ideas and support the ideas by really clickable and feasible solutions. Overall it is really helpful for designers to communicate with developers or product team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It required a lot of time input to learn how to user Framer. I had some basic programming skills like HTML, Javascript and even a bit of Python, but it was still difficult for me to dive into the coding part. The tutorials help just basic ones and I wish there are more intermediate examples/templates available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Shareability.
The main advantage of Framer is that since it uses HTML and Javascript (coffeescript) as a main language, it becomes very easy to generate a Framer share link and send it off to the team for review. This also makes it quite easy to put onto a phone. Android and iOS both support the addition of links to the home screen for full-screen viewing. From there, the possibilities are endless! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Framer isn't great for interactions that mainly focus on navigation between screens. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Framer Studio uses a simple yet powerful language based on JavaScript called CoffeeScript. Those with JavaScript experience will find that although it can be difficult to adjust to CoffeeScript concise syntax, they can quickly benefit from the cleaner look in terms of maintainability / readability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Framer Studio does not provide enough support for viewing your prototypes on Android devices. The app on the Play Store only supports devices with API Level 4.4 and above, which can be limiting for many who still use older levels. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
* High possibility for customized interaction
* Multi-device simulation supported
* Easily to share or demonstrate to other, while using browser
* The motion controlling algorithm could be shared at the designing and coding stage
* Nice and nite working space
* Friendly to other design tool, like Sketch, PS
* Docs are full and complete Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
* You have to code, even regular effect
* Specific interaction require complex coding skill
* Steep learning curve comparing to other new tools, like Principle
* Distraction could not be avoid, when you are designing while coding

I love that I can export files to Sketch! Coming from a background of systems development using Golang, I taught myself Sketch at first so that I could design my own interfaces for my mobile and tablet apps.
One of my friends recommended I try out Framer Studio for an even easier design process. I did and I have never looked back!
Transferring my amateur design skills, in Sketch, to Framer was so easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not dislike the product at all! I just can't afford the 99$ right now, because I had just bought a licence for Sketch (100$).
Despite that, I love using the trial product for now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of the greatest feature of the Framer JS is to build intricate animations and interactions. This can be done just by writing a few lines of code in Coffee Script. The best part about it is that you can write code and observe the changes happen in real time on the prototype in the right part of the interface. Other great functionalities of framer are live preview in Android and IOS devices(which gives a real feel to the users) and direct import options from Photoshop and Sketch. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is into design and prototyping.
Moreover, FramerJS facebook community is pretty good and active. And in general the documentation available on their website is pretty decent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not exactly dislike, but the initial learning curve for Framer JS for non coders is a bit high. It take a couple of weeks to get comfortable with Coffee Script. However, there are a few tutorials available on internet which can make this easy. But still for someone who is entirely unfamiliar with the coding, it takes quite a bit of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like being able to do animations for developers. It's much easier to make it in Framer sometimes than try to explain it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find it hard when I get stuck in coding to be able to do what I want. I don't have a programming background and find it difficult. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Since it's code-based, it gives me much greater flexibility than the usual drag-n-drop tools. That plus the great integration with Sketch, makes Framer my go to tool for prototyping interfaces. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are still some issues with layer names when importing from Sketch. I would also really like to be able to work with vector-assets. Right now all layers from Sketch are converted to bitmap.
Coffeescript is also a bit of a down side for me, as prefer plain javascript. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think Framer Studio is one of the best prototyping tools out there on the market today.
I like its simple user interface and can be integrated with other very useful tools.
Another great feature is it is very flexible, which allows you to create any type of animations/transitions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I personally don't have any issues with it, but there are some people in my team (with no coding background) struggle with Framer Studio.
I hope the creators soon will come up with solution for this group of users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
