## About Class
Class is the platform organizations choose when live learning needs to work. Most teams rely on video conferencing tools that were built for meetings, not instruction. Class fills the gap with a virtual classroom that gives instructors the structure, control, and engagement tools they need to run real learning at scale. Layered on top of Zoom and Microsoft Teams, Class is purpose-built for learning while keeping instructors and learners in the familiar platforms they already rely on every day. Instructors can set up sessions faster with templates and LMS integrations. During live instruction, they can see what learners are doing, guide participation, manage breakout rooms with clarity, and keep everyone focused with interactive tools. After each session, analytics reveal what worked, who engaged, and where support is needed. Class delivers a consistent experience for every learner, whether they join a corporate training program, a higher education course, or a K-12 session. It fits into existing workflows, supports accessibility needs, and reduces the operational lift of running repeatable, high-quality instruction. Organizations use Class when they want live learning that is more than a meeting. They use it when training must deliver outcomes, when instructors need visibility and control, and when learners deserve an environment built for them. Class makes that possible.

## Class Reviews
  ### 1. Monitoring Engagement Tool Makes Student Tracking Effortless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gunay R. | Lead Specialist, Core Applications and Integration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Class?**

I found the Monitoring Engagement tool to be especially helpful. It enables me to track each participant's involvement in class, making it easier to identify and support learners who need the most assistance.
The LMS Tools option also allows instructors to launch course content directly during the session, which is a real time-saver and very useful.
Additionally, I appreciate the Dashboard, which displays the total session time as well as the overall talk time for both the instructor and students. I haven't come across this feature in other videoconferencing tools.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

- When the attendance report is pushed to Blackboard's Attendance tool, it cannot be edited or updated there. To make any changes in the Attendance tool, we have to use Class API calls.
- Deleting a class meeting is also challenging, as I am unable to remove upcoming sessions directly and usually have to rely on an API call for this as well.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It can be integrated into our Blackboard LMS system. And this of course benefits both faculty and students. They can easily manage their sessions and store the recordings within the courses.

  ### 2. Empowers Teachers with Enhanced Virtual Classroom Tools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jen U. | Technical and Curricular Resources Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Class?**

It gives our teachers more tools to use in the virtual classroom vs standard Zoom. The virtual world can be boring without extra tools to help make it more engaging. Class helps with that. It's easy to use, and I like that there is no longer an app that needs to be installed on computers. It makes it easier for our users (students), who often have enough barriers being in the virtual environment.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

There is nothing we do not like about the product itself. We had some kinks in the beginning, but they seemed to work themselves out. I do feel like sometimes communication is lost between Class and our school. At one time I needed to get a hold of someone to purchase an extra license, and our rep had changed without notice. I spent too much time trying to find the person I needed to talk to, after getting several emails bounced back because previous employees had left the company. I keep a spreadsheet of all of our reps for our vendors and update it when I find out we have a new one. Generally, I get an email stating we got a new rep along with their contact information. When this doesn't happen and we need assistance, this makes for a frustrating situation.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Right now we do not have any problems that need resolving. However, in the past when we had problems, they were prompt to solve it.

  ### 3. Seamless Zoom Integration with Zero Learning Curve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris S. | Information Technology Generalist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Class?**

The single best thing for me is that it doesn't add any additional learning curve for users being built directly on top of Zoom. There are things to learn, of course, but anyone can pick it up and start using it basically without any formal training.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

The only thing I can think of is that some users simply prefer a desktop application (particularly Zoom users) and we often get asked about why they have to use it on the web in a browser, instead.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have several large enrollment classes that are delivered remote synchronously. Class definitely adds a really valuable suite of engagement tools that instructors really like.

  ### 4. Seamless Integration and Stellar Support for Synchronous Learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle F. | Assistant Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Class?**

Class allowed us to standardize our synchronous learning environment for a 6-12 school. The product is easy to use, easy to integrate, and the customer service has been stellar.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Was a little "glitchy" when we first started with the program, but it seems many of those bugs have been worked out. We have had no issues this school year.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Class allows our students easy access to their virtual classroom, is integrated with our LMS (Canvas), and most importantly, through proctor view, allows our teachers to see both the student on camera and the tab the student is working in. This helps replicated the traditional classroom environment quite well.

  ### 5. Blacboard Collaborate: My 3 years using it in college

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cole K. | Student, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Class?**

like that Blackboard Collaborate makes it easy to see what is due each week and also see what my professors upload weekly. i find it easy to share screens and files during class and feels more organized than trying to use zoom.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I find that the interface also takes a little getting used to which can be a bit frustrating when you’re trying to focus on class material and not walktrhu

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Online classrom for school

  ### 6. Istanbul Okan University Class Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

Number of features
Simultaneous sessions

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Mobile capacity
Weak subtitle
Weak integration from LMS

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Distance education usage and hybrid learning methodologies applied within Class. This can be a chance to improve digital transformation in higher education.

  ### 7. A very multi faceted tool that every higher ed institution should be using

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Class?**

It is a great tool with tons of possibility! It is easy to use and does all the things that you wish Zoom would do on its own.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I wish there were a few more resources available in higher ed to really push this product!

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Class helps us to better engage with students and other people we target in Zoom sessions.

  ### 8. Learning and Training Visual

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Class?**

The most helpful thing about blackboard is that it allows you to enhance your leaning by actively participating in learning with tools and screen share.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I dislike the fact that sometimes there are lags and it may need to be removed throughout training.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

It is a very good tool for online learning.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With blackboard we are able to train individuals from home and virtually without having to pay expenses for travel and hotel stays but online from the comfort of your home.

  ### 9. Effortless to Learn and Exceptionally Engaging

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Class?**

I like the ease of use of Class. It is so easy to learn and such a powerful engagement app.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I dislike that more people at our university don't use it.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clas is making these Zoom meetings more engaging and makes people participate a lot more.

  ### 10. Blackboard Collaborate Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Class?**

I could attend class from home instead of driving to campus.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Depending on the internet connection, the host would cut off.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solved the problem of not being able to attend college classes during COVID-19. I could also meet with my classmates on Blackboard collaborate for over 45 minutes, and not have to worry about a specific license.

  ### 11. Blackboard Collaborate has always been teacher and student user friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tristan Miguel O. | Assistant Professor , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Class?**

BB Collaborate has always been easy to use and navigate. Faculty and students can upload and retrieve materials with ease. It is also easy to find their way around. Also, very conducive to uploading materials.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Recordings are not easy to retrieve. May also consume a lot of battery.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Perhaps in editing and splicing videos, as well as with sound quality, so that they will be conducive for my classes and especially my students. Also, matters like integration during discussions and log-in may affect the quality and quantity of student participation.

  ### 12. Collaboration made simple for education

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natasha L. | Cofounder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Class?**

The best part of Blackboard Collaborate is how easy it is to host meetings with students. It is easy for both the educator and student to use.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I do not have any issues with Blackboard Collaborate.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Students need to meet to go over different questions. This tool allows us to meet easily and quickly.

  ### 13. Blackboard- Truly ABOVE BOARD

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christa G. | E, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Class?**

I enjoy that Blackboard Collaborate offers this exceptional software experience through your computer, tablet, or mobile device. It is highly reliable and can be easily accessed anywhere.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

When accessing the Discussion Board, the app dropped out from under me, and I lost my material. I found this very frustrating. I tried to log back in and retrieve my material and resume where I had left off, but it did not allow me to do so.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Blackboard Collaboration is definitely a software for a positive virtual classroom and conferencing experience. Here our school is able to access a secure cloud-based problem solving collaboration site. The site offers a top-notch email Management System, Idea Collaboration and can be accessed from anywhere.

  ### 14. It's ok

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elroy E. | Internal Auditor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Class?**

I like the classroom board tool, which makes it easier for those who learn graphically. It allowed me to draw an image or do a quick calculation.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

While there was no app or software, the thing I disliked the most was trying to edit a meeting after it had been scheduled. Sometimes, I had to delete the planned meeting and create a new one.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Covid-19 pandemic meant that we had to change the way we operate. Hence, BB Collaborate assisted in communicating with different members of the team off-site. It also helped in conducting training sessions.

  ### 15. Using Blackboard for Distance Learning

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aamna K. | English Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Class?**

-Abilty to set up recurring sessions/online sessions week in advance.
-The virtual whiteboard.
- Breakout rooms that make group work/pair work super easy.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

-New sessions sometimes take a long time to load.
- Audio echos a lot, especially if you are using the laptop/computer unbuilt microphone.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows teachers in my institution to set up, teach, record, and share online lessons. Recordings are hosted on Blackboard itself and can be easily accessed and download.

  ### 16. Class application makes virtual learning more impactful

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill D. | D, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

One of the things I love most about Class is that it allows you to keep all participants in the application as opposed to sending them outside of Zoom or Teams to complete assignments. The real-time participant tracking and monitoring allows you to see when team members are engaged and when they're looking elsewhere. And the reporting functions help you assess how well your class (no pun intended).

**What do you dislike about Class?**

In the first few months of using Class, the experience was a little unstable. That made it a little tricky with our all-day New Hire Training class. On a couple of occassions, we had to ask team members to log out and log back in. The Class Support Team was very receptive to our concerns and worked to address them right away so we could get things on track quickly.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Since it's new technology, be prepared to work through some challenges along the way as you get up and running. But overall, the application is great.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem that we are solving with Class is learner engagement and participation. The Class app helps us solve those effectively with different views and the ability to see participants more clearly. It also allows us to deliver assignments right from the application in different tabs instead of sharing links and sending participants to other applications.

  ### 17. Class Pilot providing valuable resources

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michele C. | Coordinator, Distance Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

We are currently piloting Class in our live, remote teaching environment. Class allows our staff further individual opportunities with each student, while still providing the same, daily connection students and staff in our program are used to. Additionally, the support from the Class team is responsive, helpful, coordinated, and thorough.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

We have not yet discovered a downside to our pilot of Class.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Have a plan for the ways you would like to further strengthen a remote learning environment as you begin to teach using Class.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our students attend our courses daily, in their brick and mortar classroom, while our teacher is remote. This has been our teaching model since well before the pandemic, but, it does provide some barriers. Class is helping our teaching staff solve some of those problems with a distracted remote learner, or a disengaged remote learner more effectively.

  ### 18. Useful, but slightly difficult to navigate

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adriana P. | Presenter, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

Blackboard collaborate combines video calls with a software we already use (Blackboard). This meant that links did not need to be sent or searched for ahead of time.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

It was hard to find the correct chat room in use at times. I believe that it can be more streamlined and user friendly. Many times, students would end up in the wrong class. Also, recordings should be easier to find.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Blackboard Collaborate is automatic and removes the needs to send meeting information prior to the meeting. I think the new features have made it more comparable to Zoom.

  ### 19. Buyer Beware

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittany B. | Head of Enablement, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

Nothing notable. The technology that was "sold" to us was non-functioning.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Tl:dr They say they have a product, they don't.

Let me first say, with early-stage software vendors, I'm willing to extend quite a bit of grace. I expect things to be a little messy, roadmaps to be more "wet cement", etc.

Class first reached out to my team early in 2021. Their functionality seemed to offer value to L&D efforts, particularly for companies that will continue to operate in a remote or hybrid environment. Their virtual classroom capabilities (tracking attendance, attendee engagement, hosting content, etc.) and administrative capabilities (pre-set breakout sessions, etc.) were attractive.

We signed for a proof-of-concept after a few discussions. In retrospect, there were some red flags in our earlier conversations (lack of product/tech knowledge on the sales team, conflicting materials on what was available vs. future looking, a demo which was just a recorded looped video of the functionality, etc.).

We ended the proof of concept 12 hours after it began. Knowing our requirements, the Class team extended access and at first login, we found it entirely unusable. You couldn't even share a screen.

We asked for a meeting and summarized some of the critical challenges we were seeing. The only person that showed up was one software engineer who said (and I'm summarizing) "yea, these are all known issues...we thought we might be able to pull it off". I asked if they had even a single client and from what I recall, the only client that came to mind was a mid-size business in CO.

Now, let's imagine Class shook the Theranos-like approach to client acquisition and built what they said they offer, at the end, the biggest disappointment and red flag was the lack of honesty and integrity from their leadership.

Not a single person that engaged with us through our conversations reached out. The poor software engineer who showed up to accept defeat in our last conversation said he'd pass our feedback up the chain, and we should expect contact from their team.

No follow-up. No ownership of the blunder. No "hey, we hustled a little too close to the sun, we're sorry for wasting your time....". Just *poof*.

I have never in 15 years seen such dishonesty, disorganization, and lack of leadership from a company. I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole. Class is not a credible team of operators.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

If you're still considering the platform, ensure you ask for a *live demo*. And even then, take it with a big old grain of salt. Strongly suggest trying before buying.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

N/A

**Official Response from Michael Chasen:**

> Brittany,

I am very sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with Class.

Thank you for taking the time to bring these frustrations forward. Please know your concerns and feedback have been heard and will be used to improve our team's performance in the future.

As we continue to build upon and refine Class across platforms, we are working closely with a variety of organizations who provide daily feedback to our team. Strong communication at the forefront is imperative to any partnership, especially when developing software and deploying new technology. In this instance, you didn’t receive the communication and partnership you should expect from us, and for that, I apologize.

I welcome the opportunity to make things right and will be reaching out directly to connect and see how I can address your concerns.

Thank you,
Michael Chasen
Founder and CEO, Class

  ### 20. Virtual Blackboard for our in-house Training

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mia S. | Riparian Landscape Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

Makes it easy to offer training via online classrooms in real-time.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Sending or receiving a large file while carrying out a virtual classroom distort quality of video.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No more commuter fee and traditional classrooms which save time.

  ### 21. Simple for Trainings

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam C. | Communications Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

Blackboard Collaborate is simple to use and works effectively with the rest of the Blackboard software. It has proven to be beneficial in training sessions. Video calling is, in my opinion, its best feature. It's a pure one-click video call, with none of the other video conferencing apps' complications. I particularly enjoy that Blackboard Collaborate allows me to create breakout rooms, which makes brainstorming and reflecting on knowledge even smoother.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

While Blackboard Collaborate is a very simple software, its simplicity has the potential to be its undoing. Blackboard lacks some of the more advanced capabilities that its competitors provide. When I use Blackboard Collaborate for video conferencing, I also have a lot more connectivity difficulties. The video call will frequently drop or the audio will cut out. When I use other video conferencing software, I don't seem to have this problem as regularly.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Overall, Blackboard Collaborate has met my expectations. I've used previous Blackboard products and can attest to the fact that they create software with the user in mind. I like the ease of use that Blackboard Collaborate provides and would recommend it to others for training and brainstorming.

  ### 22. A solution for virtual classroom

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

His diversity of options makes it the best.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

It should have an option to rate the class itself not only the platform or internet connectivity.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, instead of having to go to the university, only have to log in and take the class

  ### 23. Powerful Virtual Classroom Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christen L. | Academic Technology Helpdesk, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was imperative to find a good virtual classroom that was effective in engaging our students. Blackboard Collaborate was our saving tool that allowed our professors to connect with their students, either one-on-one or an entire class. Collaborate has a ton of features that really made it possible to have connections while being apart. Some of the tools that we used the most were the whiteboard, application sharing, and adding powerpoints to the virtual meeting. Using Collaborate created great engagement and interactions for everyone in the meeting.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Some of the Blackboard Collaborate interfaces could use updating. Since Blackboard has upgraded to Ultra I think it could look a little more similar to that.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the issue of having to hold classes virtual instead of in person. It allows students the freedom to learn wherever they are instead of coming to campus. It has been really beneficial for students to learn through using a different type of technology.

  ### 24. This is a game-changer for online education.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

The ability to see our students working, and that they cannot be seen by others in the proctor view.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

It takes a little longer than other like programs to load.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Try this program out before purchasing any other like products!

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are benefitting by having students attend class in an environment that is Zoom-like but with all the benefits of a virtual classroom.

  ### 25. My View on Class

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christina Z. | Differentiation Specialist/ Curriculum & Tech Coordinator for the Virtual Academy, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

I love that you can see the breakout rooms at the same time, and also that you can preload websites that are readily accessible to you for your lessons.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

It sometimes takes a long time for the kids to get logged in

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They have finally gotten the whiteboard tool up and running and that was a major problem for teaching virtually.

  ### 26. Blackboard Collaborate ideas

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

The most helpful part is that it is required at the university.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

It doesn't let me see all 15 students at once. Sharing screens is not easy. The microphone is not easy to access.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have any problems that Blackboard Collaborate is solving at this time.

  ### 27. Blackboard Collaborate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard S. | Blackboard Support and Services Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

Our institution uses Blackboard as its LMS, and having a video conferencing platform, basically built-in, is very helpful. Not only does Collaborate insert seamlessly into our courses, but it is easily used for non -course-related meetings as well.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Collaborate is not as robust as some of the other platforms that we used during the pandemic. I wish the gallery view had a few more options and that it had the ability to customize backgrounds, but Collaborate is a strong option; it just doesn't have all the "bells and whistles" that some other platforms have.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

If your institution uses Blackboard as an LMS, Collaborate is an easy win.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used Collaborate in our courses since its inception, and it makes virtual classes, virtual office hours, and quick impromptu meetings easy to facilitate. During the pandemic of 2020, our institution went entirely virtual for almost six months, and Collaborate was invaluable in meeting our student needs during that time.

  ### 28. Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing System

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deependra P. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

Blackboard Collaborate is a web conferencing system for your organizations connecting staff, your students etc. In which all sessions are accessible through a web browser with no need for additional software to install in your devices. You can connect anywere in the world using your web browser which is already installed in your device.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Video quality is not up to mark to some extent. Some time voice also breaks, which depends on your network conditions.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

It is the best platform for web conferencing or virtual classrooms it's not require any software installation in your existing device.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can connect with our employees/clients for any inter or external meetings easily.

  ### 29. Remote Learning

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

From your main blackboard page it is easier to get to collarborate. I also like the functions that exist with in it. Being able to see the whole class, asking questions in chat and recording lectures are great features.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

At times, it can feel like there is a lot going on with the different tabs on the main screen.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taking classes remotely. Zoom is a good platform but it does not offer as many options. I also like the appearance of collaborate and in a way it gives it more a fun vibe compared to have basic Zoom looks.

  ### 30. Blackboard Collaborate Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I like how it is very user-friendly. I find it a lot easier to use than other video conferencing sites, which is why I always prefer to meet on collaborate rather than its competitors.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Something I dislike about Blackboard Collaborate is how to share my screen. I think they could have made that option a lot easier to do. It can be tedious and tricky for the presenter or any collaborator to share their screen.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Great for collaborating on group projects.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Blackboard Collaborate has been a life-saver for my online courses. It is a simple way to attend class from the comfort of wherever you are. I have also found it extremely easy to collaborate with partners and group assignments using Blackboard Collaborate.

  ### 31. Amazing product!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I love how it allows for videos, chats, audio and sharing documents with others. I like how I can record an entire event and how the recording shows everything

**What do you dislike about Class?**

There is one thing I don't like. I don't like how sometimes when blackboard crashes, I can't use collaborate to record my events. Other than that, it's a really good software.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to record all different types of events. It's free and I'm able to access my school classes as well as record videos and submit them for the rest of the class

  ### 32. Collaborate Ultra--the Conferencing Tool Made for Teaching

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tammy P. | Director, KSU RCHSS Office of Digital Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I love that Collaborate Ultra is made for teaching. It's not just a conferencing platform. It's not for business. It's not like Teams, trying to be everything to everyone. It's a web conferencing tool for teachers. I also like that you can share a link with students or guest presenters and have them join--very easy.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I dislike that it sets off the privacy settings in Mac, and it's a pain to explain how to get the Mac to do screenshare. I also dislike that you can't pre-prepare a poll to run in your class. It has to be typed while you are presenting, which takes up time.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We do most of our training on Blackboard Collaborate because it is easy to just post a link in the training announcement email--no need to get people to sign up and then send out links individually later like with Zoom and Teams. I also do reading chats with interested students throughout the semester, and Blackboard Collaborate allows me to do that easily. Students don't have trouble joining Collaborate. And because it can be recorded, it's easy to share study sessions, etc. when other students can't attend during the scheduled time.

  ### 33. Pretty good but there are some issues

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** kevin k. | Private lesson Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

It's fast and very well integrated with BB Learn. The file sharing function is very practical for group presentations and they usually run smoothly. My favorite feature is the recording ability, which changed the way I study, improving my efficiency.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Subpar video quality and drawing tools, very low maximum of 4 simultaneous webcams. No speed changing option for recordings. It tends to fail due to connectivity before Google Meet, so sometimes we need to migrate. However, this only happens with one or two professors.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

If you need an integrated solution like BB Learn, it may be worth it, but enterprise Google Meet has better video quality and tools.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Stream of remote college classes during COVID-19 pandemic. My university was ready to transition to virtual courses in one weekend because we had BB Collaborate beforehand. The program is easy to use and good overall; I'm happy with it.

  ### 34. On the student and professor ends, Blackboard Collaborate has a bad user experience.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I like that it was designed with the intent to make it easier to host classes online and still maintain a class discussion because of its features with the microphone, chat, and question options.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I hate that it randomly crashes for absolutely no reason, and your internet connection has to be impeccable just for it to run somewhat okay. I don't particularly appreciate that when too many people are present within a session, the microphone is disabled from the attender's end.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

It is a pretty good alternative to in-person meetings; however, you need to make sure that your wifi connection is 10/10 because that is the only way this system will be any good.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When the global pandemic hit, Blackboard Collaborate proved helpful in my school because it allowed us to have an online teaching/learning platform.

  ### 35. An effective add on to Blackboard Learn

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cynthia H. | Dept Chair of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

Blackboard Collaborate allows learners to do exactly that - colloborate.
Learners can use breakout rooms and interact with others using polls and chat
They can also share files as well!

**What do you dislike about Class?**

It is still lacking in that it needs to support digital backgrounds, including blurring out the backgrounds for privacy. Also, it takes up alot of bandwidth and sound quality can be poor on Chromebooks.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Blackboard Collaborate allows users to not have to use Zoom or Google Meets - students can be monitored using Collaborate

  ### 36. Works Better than Alternatives, Comes with Inherent Video Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew A. | Publisher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

Surprisingly easy to use and easy to combine with other elements of Blackboard, including the ability to use documents and files for students and professors. Also has intrinsic video support capabilities, including the means to broadcast video, audio, and screen-sharing for students.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Doesn't allow for the use of every type of document (although screen sharing can sometimes make up for this)

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Teaching classes-- both in classroom and solely online. Been very useful since the start of the pandemic

  ### 37. Not quite there yet.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

I enjoy the functionality of BB which continually improves, with new features and support is superb

**What do you dislike about Class?**

What i dislike is the lack of apps available to use as they seem outdated

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves a centralized form of information for all users to view and edit. While other software already has this in tuned, my organization uses this based on subscription package

  ### 38. Good but not Great

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittany S. | Enrollment Counselor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I like how Blackboard Collaborate allows video conferencing and multi-use across many servers/users. I also like how easy it is to join meetings and navigate. There is no need for a tutorial because it is self-explained and super easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I'm not too fond of the mobile app function. I often have issues with audio when used on my phone. Suppose I get a phone call while during class, the sound will quit for the blackboard collaboration. I have to exit and rejoin to get sound back.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Work from home/ school from homework, virtual classroom, class participation, video conferencing

  ### 39. Professional educational platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** nancy J. | General Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

The best feature is creating assessments and quizzes.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

In general, I like BLackboard, and I don't have something specific that I dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

If you are looking for a professional platform during these unusual days, Blackboard is the best for you. It helps you to organize your work, prepare your quizzes and assessments, plan ahead of time, create materials, and many more. As teachers, we need platforms that help us to complete our work quickly and effectively.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The calendar is great to keep us updated and to remind students of the upcoming sessions.

  ### 40. Great app for professional collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I love the feature that I can see all chat history. Virtual class is their best feature.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Group conference is not very interactive like teams and other chat applications

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Virtual classroom is a great feature for Educational organizations

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to chat with my team members while doing masters. Blackboard windows show you who are online.

  ### 41. Great for a general meeting, not so great for anything else, atleast for an Apple user.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebecca B. | Graduate Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I like that it offers the ability to record a session, to place everyone in gallery view, it has functions for muting and turning off one's video.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

The connection, the difficulty of sharing content, the inability to do much of anything if you are not the primary user who creates meetings (e.g., providing content in the comments section). Additionally connectivity problems.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving the ability to meet students online who need speech therapy services within a public school environment. The use of Blackboard Collaborate is a safeguard against "online meeting bombers" and is safe to use for the school district I interned under.

  ### 42. dependable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Class?**

ease of access to Blackboard Learning Management System

**What do you dislike about Class?**

the video recordings take a bit too long to process

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It enables me to communicate with my students

  ### 43. Soo many issues

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather M. | Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

Kids can easily share their screens. It's pretty self explanatory to use

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Sometimes the links just stop working. New features are rolled out slowly. You can't turn off chat/screen sharing in a breakout room. Users have to refresh multiple times per day because screen/audio/video stops working.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Use something else

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's useful for distance learning to and kids are able to communicate with each other.

  ### 44. Collaborate as a Plug-In to Canvas

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter T. | Communications and Marketing Officer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Class?**

At my institution we use Blackboard Collaborate as a plug-in within our learning management system, Canvas, which makes its use simple and easy. I use the tool to host virtual meetings and events with the students involved in career development and career advancement activities. The ability to invite external guests (like employers) makes this tool an important resource in providing students with exposure to a variety of speakers and topics. Overall, it is very easy to set-up sessions, start and end them, and to create recordings of the meetings and events for archival use.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

This tool does what is supposed to in a very easy way and as a add-on resource to Canvas, I don't really have much to say about it in terms of dislikes.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Just know what you need out of a virtual classroom / meeting support tool, especially if it's going to plug into an LMS.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to host virtual meetings and events with students from within a specific Canvas course.

  ### 45. Blackboard Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda W. | Computer Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Class?**

I like the ease of use of Blackboard. Everything is in one place.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

I wish it were easier to communicate with peers. I don't like how the email server is set up. The email portion of Blackboard is embedded with in the application. I wish the application would allow to open the mail application on the computer allowing it to be easier to read and the format being comparable to what I am familiar to using on an everyday basis. Additionally, I wish I had the ability to not have the email carbon copied to myself. I can understand in order to have a paper trail to look back upon. Instead I believe it should be an option, as it is in a typical email as well weather we send a carbon copy to ourselves as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

I would highly recommend Blackboard to other users as it is easy to use. I like how it is easy for users to manuver the application and can easily find files and submit responses and assignments with ease.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication and classwork can be complete while working and attending school remotely. I am able to communicate effectively with my peers via email to solve classroom assignments and concerns. It is easy to use in that there are multiple resources that are available to use to help with assignments and or links that are associated with Western Kentucky Universities website and resources that we may need.

  ### 46. Blackboard Collaborate is nice but I prefer Zoom.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I like that Blackboard Collaborate allows me to hold virtual class with my students with a familiar name due to their LMS.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Blackboard Collaborate does much of what an instructor could do on Zoom but at an added expense to the institution. Students are mostly familiar with Zoom from other classes.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Blackboard Collaborate allows me to connect with students beyond normal class times.

  ### 47. Robust platform, but caveat emptor

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noveck G. | IT Officer [Team Lead- eLearning], Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Class?**

The platform is solid and stable, and works with a number of devices and platforms. Support is usually responsive.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Obfuscated billing - the new per minute billing seems to put clients at a disadvantage. Large classes are still not easy to setup (> 500 users in a session). Would suggest having your own arrangement for storage of recordings, as the contracted amount can balloon quickly forcing you do delete / move on short notice.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a scalable solution for online classes/live sessions. This solution fit that bill, bit there are some caveats that we are now learning about.
The billing is one, storage is another, and the lack of large sessions support is disappointing.

  ### 48. Hard to use and not straightforward

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

I think it is useful because it is on the site that all my classes are but it is not easy to use and there are alot of features that dont work

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Most of it. No features work and has internet bandwidth issues

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Virtual classes during the pandemic

  ### 49. Blackboard Collaborate for uni

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aurora P. | Student, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Class?**

It's easy to use, and it allows a good communication though everyone is at home

**What do you dislike about Class?**

It consumes a lot of battery of your computer. It's very heavy for you connection

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Make sure to have your computer in good condition and with an updated browser

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's easy to have the group calls to work, cause everyone has already the room created and it's easy to log in

  ### 50. Blackboard Collaborate in Higher Education during COVID

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eddie A. | AVP for Distance Learning , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Class?**

Seamless integration with Blackboard Learn LMS.

**What do you dislike about Class?**

Not yet as fully featured as other collaboration products, such as Zoom.

**Recommendations to others considering Class:**

Consider how your users plan to utilize a collaborative conference product, then determine if Bb Collaborate has all the tools necessary for them to be successful.

**What problems is Class solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing faculty and students the opportunity to meet virtually in this time of COVID-19. This synchronous models provides a modality of continuous learning especially during our most recent move to remote learning.

Additional benefits is its seamless integration to schedule meetings directly within the LMS through a Single Sign On approach, reducing the need for multiple user accounts and logins.
