**What do you like best about Canvs?**

As someone working in social media, I often deal with a high volume of activity, so having a platform that can efficiently and seamlessly analyze the specific data I need is a real asset. Our CSM, Jenna, consistently goes above and beyond whenever we have questions or need help with particular reports. It truly makes a difference to have such a responsive and knowledgeable CSM supporting us.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

Recently, I've noticed a few uploads where social comments are coded as something completely unrelated to the actual content of the comment.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Analyzing social media data can be challenging because of the overwhelming amount of context involved. Canvs AI makes this process easier by presenting aggregated data in a user-friendly format. It offers both a concise overview and the ability to explore the data in greater detail whenever necessary.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

An easy way to quantify qualitative data. Makes sense out of amounts of data that would otherwise be impossible to analyze. ASA brings additional layer of analysis. Easy to learn. Great customer support.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

Can be a bit costly. To use ASA, it helps to have a bit of existing knowledge on how to use generative AI. This is not a significant problem, however, as one could easily pick up the still, which is used more and more, everywhere. ASA does have more difficulty when summarizing responses to a single question, versus larger picture themes of a customer satisfaction survey. The more data, the better it works. But then it's less helpful when you need to look at specifics.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have open-ended survey questions, verbatim responses are unstructured, and in languages other than English. Canvs.ai is a significant time savings to have all this translation and analyses completed, while offering additional analysis, and can even create personas and charts using simple prompts. Great that it can quantify qualitative data so that we can see, objectively, themes and topics that are of importance, and rank and communicate them.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

What I like the most is the confidence that I’m truly understanding what our guests are telling us and not somehow influenced by my biased an previous professional experience (which we know worsens with experiences as we lose the early “freshness” on our perception and ability to notice “the paint stains in the company walls”.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

What is not so good is sometimes having the feeling you're dealing with a toddler when trying several approaches and ways of asking the same thing to get the AI to understand what you reaaly want to know. Having suggestions on what to ask next and the way to ask it helps in this. 
As for potential risks of using the tool, they could very well be turning managers / analysts a little numb and / or distracted about important, pertinent, revealing opinions of key (yet individualized or very few) guests / customers that get hidden in the “big pool”  of all the data.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

(Currently): As the database grows in time we're starting to get from Canvs a more insightful view on how the actions taken contributed to change past opinions and /or perceptions of our visitors in several points.
(Still): Learning what really is affecting / driving my guests satisfaction and by that prioritize next actions and / or contents of my attraction.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

Canvs has become a huge time-saver in our research process. Its ability to quickly analyze open-ended responses and surface meaningful insights allows us to move from raw data to actionable findings much faster than before.

I also really appreciate the flexibility it offers—being able to customize the analysis through rules, codes, and nets gives us the control we need to tailor outputs to our specific business questions. It’s not a one-size-fits-all tool, and that makes a big difference.

And while Asa (the AI assistant) is still evolving, it’s already proving to be a helpful partner in streamlining workflows and surfacing insights. I’m excited to see how it continues to improve.

On top of that, the support team has been fantastic. Our Customer Success Manager, Kit, has been a standout—she guided us through onboarding with clarity and patience, and continues to be a knowledgeable, responsive partner as we dive deeper into the tool. It’s clear she genuinely wants us to succeed with Canvs, and that makes a big impact.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

While Canvs offers a lot of value, there are a couple of areas where it could improve. The platform occasionally experiences lag or crashes, which can be frustrating—especially when I’ve already spent time refining codes or interacting with Asa. It disrupts the flow and sometimes results in lost progress.

There’s also a bit of a learning curve. Some of the more powerful features are not immediately intuitive or easy to find, which can make discoverability a challenge for new users. Once you get the hang of it, it’s great—but getting there takes some effort.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canvs is helping us solve one of the most persistent challenges in consumer insights and user experience research: making sense of large volumes of open-ended feedback quickly and meaningfully. Before Canvs, analyzing qualitative data—especially from sources like Alchemer or Dscout—was time-consuming and often inconsistent. Now, we’re able to surface key themes, emotional drivers, and usability issues in a fraction of the time.

For example, we recently used Canvs to analyze feedback around app performance and functionality. The platform helped us identify recurring pain points like mobile fueling issues and app crashes. That level of clarity has been instrumental in guiding product improvements and prioritizing fixes.

Beyond the analysis itself, Canvs has streamlined our workflow. We’re no longer manually coding responses or struggling to align on themes—everything from tagging to visualization is faster and more collaborative. The result is not just time saved, but better, more confident decision-making.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

The upsides of using AI for my role is seeing what fans are saying about our different programs. It helps tailor and gather fan feedback for marketing/ promotion and consideration in regards to future seasons. It is also easy to find quotes, tailor the dates for when I want to see the tweets/ posts from and can even filter by which emotion is gathered from the tweet. For my purposes I really use the "Like", "Love", "Enjoy" or "Happy" categories. Seeing what the fans didn't like as much is also helpful in considering the tone, or storylines for future seasons.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

I use it solely to search for fan quotes for marketing so outside of that it can be quite confusing to navigate the part of the system I am unfamiliar with.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For my job, Canvas AI helps us solve/understand they thoughts of the fans during our show premieres and throughout the season as episodes air. It helps with our Audience messaging guide as we collect feedback from not only Critic quotes but also fan quotes from the social media post on x ("Twitter")

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

Canvs AI is an easy to use, fast, and powerful. It unlocks insights that would otherwise be difficult to extract without a ton of manual effort and allows my team to deliver insights in a timely fashion. In addition to the product, the account management and client success team is lovely to work with. They are responsive, thoughtful, and always go the extra mile.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

I have no major complaints about Canvs AI. As with other AI tools, if utilized appropriately Canvs will have a positive impact on your research and analytics process. AI coding isn't always perfect, but the Canvs team empowers users with features that allow for re-coding to ensure final outputs are as accurate as possible. The team is also constantly seeking feedback to improve the AI.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canvs is helpful for adding structure to unstructured text data we capture through social platforms. The software codes verbatim for topics, emotions, and more allowing us to conduct analysis in a much more efficent way. We use it to analyze campaign reactions on social platforms.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

There are various text analysis tools out there but what sold us about Canvs was its conversational ASA interface that summarises key themes and can be used to ask specific questions.
It quickly assigns relevant codes to verbatims and enables us to quantify spontaneous qualitative sentiments with robust data.  We had specific refinements to the coding framework to customise it to our needs and the team were on hand to guide us through that process.
Our account team at Canvs are extrmely knowledgeable and always on hand to answer questions.  We had some technical issues uploading large volumes of tracker data but they took this on and helped us find a solution.
There are other use cases which we've yet to try but look useful, like analysing qual transcripts and social pages.  The platform continues to evolve with new and improved functionalities and the team are always taking on feedback on how it could be better.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

It can be slow to process when working with larger data sets like global trackers, but any issues are addressed swiftly by the team.
I don't really use the charts and views of the data it creates as default on the project page, I prefer to download the pivot table where I can manipulate the data as I need.
There were some blockers with integration from our side which needed to be resolved - registration emails and downloads were blocked, and our need to cleanse PII data from responses before uploading meant we couldn't implement their functionality to pull responses directly from Qualtrics.  This adds a manual upload process every wave which can be time consuming for multiple surveys.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The time and cost to manually assign codes to large numbers of verbatims, and the ability to customise codes into relevant areas with clear owners on our side for actioning.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

It's definitely better than doing what I was doing, which was reading OE comments to code or trying to use Chat GPT on a free version and after I cleaned or scrubbed everything.   They recently released an AI summarizing feature which works OK enough?

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

They had an auto-renewal clause that caught us off guard, and we ended up locked into another year even though we didn’t really need the tool anymore. Since I’m an analyst, I didn’t dig into the contract details myself—my skip-level manager signed it—and the clause was never mentioned verbally, just buried in the paperwork. I wish they had called it out on a call at some point. The whole situation was uncomfortable and frustrating because I just wanted to use the tool for analysis, but instead I got pulled into the contract mess. So, just a heads-up: their renewal requires a full 60 days’ notice for baling, which feels pretty unreasonable.

Other than that, the analysis itself was so-so. Sometimes it worked well, but other times it felt like it required too much tinkering and not enough human interpretation of the data.  I'd also say the visuals were pretty lacklaster.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

I love the legacy TV data offered by Canvs AI. The rankers provides a great story on how our content performs compared to our competitors. There are great filters that gets really granular which is helpful when looking at very specific genres such as "competition reality". The campaigns tab comes in handy when we have major tentpole campaigns where we have to analyze a large amount of verbatims at once. Canvs AI specifically is a great complement to the campaign feature when we need to analyze data beyond certain social platforms. Asa 2.0 has also been extremely helpful when I want some high level overview of the data I uploaded. Customer support has been extremely efficient and proactive.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

The main downside is how Canvs TV Data is limited to Twitter only and the general lack of support for TikTok and unauthorized Instagram profiles. You have to manually export comments from these sources unlike Facebook and YouTube, where the tool can automatically analyze comments after you copy and paste the link to a post. It is nice that Canvs AI still gives you the option to analyze posts from TikTok and Instagram so all the data lives on one platform.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canvs AI helps us analyze multiple campaigns from small to large. Manually analyzing and coding a large number of comments is not only tiring but unrealistic when you have campaigns that garner hundreds and thousands of comments. Canvs AI makes this a breeze and we love how it offers the ability to analyze comments across all the major social media sources on one platform. The emotional codes and AI Story Assist are well developed products that are relatively reliable when it comes to analyzing slang and sarcasm (something many tools lack in). Canvs has also helped us understand how our shows perform compared to competitors and the drivers of conversation.

What I like best about Canvs AI is its ability to analyze key themes from open-ended responses—especially when dealing with a large volume of short answers. It can surface meaningful insights in just minutes, saving me hours or even days of manual analysis.

What I dislike about Canvs AI is that its filtering capabilities are limited. For example, I’d like to filter by a specific multiple-choice response and then view the open-ended themes just for that subset—but the tool doesn’t handle this well. The AI tends to analyze the entire dataset rather than applying filters accurately, which makes it harder to get targeted insights.

How much time the platform has saved us from doing manual coding. I also love the ease of uploading files and being able to dig into the findings quickly. I also appreciate the functionality of the platform and being able to cut and slice the data.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

Sometimes the platform is glitchy and takes some time to get running. ASA is great but you have to be so specific or refresh it for it to work. Finally, the historical upload process was a bit painful. It would have been great to get a little more guidance since this was new.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canvs is providing us a bigger picture of of guest from various different sources of information. Its also helping us see longitudinally what is emerging as a theme. This is still new for us so right now, the benefit is the time savings of not having to do this manually.

Canva AI is easy to use and brilliant at creating clear plans on how to improve the customer experience in my business. Within minutes I can have clear plans set out for the coming quarter and has helped us make faster, clearer decisions when it comes to improve a number of aspects when it comes to the experience and service we offer.

I haven't found anything to dislike. The are some tools on sentiment that I haven't used yet which I'm sure I can over time.

We get thousands of pieces of feedback from our guests, be it scores or comments, and CANVS AI does an amazing job at streamlining trends and making it clear on the things we should focus on. Too many times have peoples interpretations caused teams to focus on the wrong things, and CANVS AI removes the noise to help people make the right decisions to improve the service we offer.

Before Canvs, I was spending weeks, tagging and theming open-ended comments, trying to tell a story of what guests are saying about our brand. I am now able to tell that same story, with more emotional analysis in just days.

I do think Asa struggles when I am looking at huge datasets. I have learned that it is easier to look at a smaller timeline in order to get the conversation going.

Canvs is a huge time saver. I am able to spend my time on so many other things now that I am not heads down for weeks at a time analyzing open-ended comments.

Canvs is a beautiful way to visualize our open-ended responses and avoid tedious manual coding. I've transitioned most of our clients from manually-coded open ends to ones generated using Canvs so we can save time and provide visually appealing data.

I wish we could have topics and subtopics, similar to nets and codes, as that is closer to what my clients are used to receiving with manually coded open ends.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

Canvas AI helps me quickly open-ended responses into categories and adjust the grouping codes in real time. There are also many different views/graphics that I can use of the data to provide to clients. The AI Story Assist feature is really helpful in leveraging AI to help easily craft a narrative for a dataset. Overall, Canvs AI is a helpful too to start grouping and thinking about datasets in different ways in a quick manner.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

Sometimes I wish the AI was more adaptive and could take similar words that might be slightly misspelled and put them all in the same grouping. There is still a fair bit of manual coding, but it saves a lot of time compared to using tools like excel to analyze unstructured data.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves my team time that would typically be used coding the responses in software such as excel. It makes it much easier to analyze sentiment analysis and provide quick deliverables to clients

Story AI is the best feature on Canvs.  I can read an overview of all the open ends as soon as I upload my data. I am able to deliver immediate insights to my clients right when a survey closes.

**What do you like best about Canvs?**

What I like best about Canvs AI is that it's able to analyze open-ended survey responses in fast speed. It categorized the themes and extracted insights from large volumes of from open-ended responses which significantly saved my time. The platform is also user-friendly where you can easily learn how to use it.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

The AI categorization isn't always accurate. Sometimes it misclassifies the open-ended responses and I would have to correct the codes manually.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It analyzes and categorizes large volume of customer survey responses. In the past, I had to manually sort through, coded, and summarized the open-ended responses which is very time-consuming. Canvs AI helped me to save time and efforts in doing this task which allows me to focus on extracting insights and use these results to help the organization to make informed decisions.

Canvs makes analyzing verbatims much more efficiently! I can work faster and gain deeper insights using the AI Story Assist feature. On top of that, the sentiment analysis and filtering by wave enables me to understand trends and how users feel.

Sometimes it takes a while for the data to upload and I don't like that the data is based on dates. I have data for separate waves with overlapping dates at times.

It's still a little buggy as an AI. Sometimes I'll request that it do an analysis using a certain filter, and it tells me the filter isn't there - when I know it is. Jenna's been helpful with this.

When we use the service, we're analyzing thousands and thousands of open ended responses. It saves enormous amounts of time.

Canvs has made analysis of open ended text data so much easier and allowed us to dive deeper with our customers. I'm loving the storyAssist feature. They have continued to evolve the functions and no storyAsssit can provide narrative including demographic call outs.

I love everything, but want more features! It would be great if the StoryAssist feature could give responses by variables/demos/etc. *Update as of 5/20/24 they have implemented my reccomendation of more features showing how they truly take feedback back to the product team to evolve the offering.

Canvs AI is helpful for processing verbatims from consumer studies, rather than relying on someone manually coding this data. I like being able to upload the data myself, filter through responses and re-code as needed, and export as pivot tables or tree maps.

A few things I wish we could do are: 
- allow clients we share the page with to ask questions of the AI Story Assist (they cannot currently do this, so they have to email me to ask me to ask the AI questions)
- change names of filters/items in the filter (such as sample names) after the data set is uploaded to Canvs
- edit the tree maps within Canvs. Currently, I export and then do quite a bit of editing in PowerPoint so they fit the client's report template, and it would be nice to be able to do this within Canvs
- be able to export a pivot table of topics, as I feel like this is closer to what our clients are looking for than the nets/codes output

I love being able to qualtify sentiment across social platforms. Also find ASA to be extremely useful in creating topline key takeaway bullets and summarizing the emotions and including supporting quotes for added context.

The downside is the level of accuracy the tool is able to achieve in grouping comments that fall under a given emotion/sentiment. While it helps streamline the process, I still find that a lot of manual coding takes place on the back end to more accurately differentiate between positive, nuetral and negative emotions.

The tool doesn't seem to be learning the way I hoped it would. I thought that if I started classifying open-ended responses into my own codes/nets, it would be able to learn and apply that to future waves. However, the platform does not learn that way. At the moment, creating rules is also limited in ability. I have had to manually recode thousands of open-ends as a result. In summary, it's not great for quantitative measurement and not reliable for trending things over time. It would also be more helpful if the product itself could give AI summaries that compare demographics or different audience breaks.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Canvs AI is helping my team parse through the main themes that are mentioned in open-ended responses. Ideally, trending these responses over time (e.g. +5% of people in 2023 vs. 2024 said that prices are a main reason they think a brand is getting worse) would be great, but right now the tool doesn't seem to have enough of this capability so all of it is very directional.

Canvs makes analysis of hundreds of open ends easier then I have ever seen.  Not only is it easier, but the quality of the AI analytics is incredibly useful.  But, the best part of Canvs AI is how easy it is to use.  Just upload your open-ends and in a matter of minutes thousands of open ends across multiple questions are broken down by whatever segments you desire.

I don't really have anything negative to say about Canvs AI.  I just wish I got to use it more often. I hope to field more surveys in the upcoming weeks and months that will allow me to dig even deeper into the tool's strengths.

I used to download my open-end feedback and sort through them all with filters and the good old find function for key phrases.  That took me hours upon hours.  Our use of Canvs AI has opened up time for me to do do more projects and dig deeper into the quantative parts of the project.

The most helpful tool for my use case is the ability to use boolean logic to search. When we had previously coded open end responses manually in Q, we were only able to use one search term at a time. For example, if we were trying to get at anti 'woke' sentiment, I would separately need to search for 'woke' and then code, 'political correctness' and then code. Being able to search with 'or' logic is a really helpful function. 

I've also found the AISA summaries to be really helpful in validating the overall stories / takeaways I am seeing in my data. For example, previously we never looked at open end responses for the competitors we tested in our surveys because it would have been far too time intensive to code them manually or read every single one. AISA is a great tool for this because I can read the summary and ask specific questions to validate if trends I am seeing elsewhere in the data are also reflected in the open end responses.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

Canvs has a lot of room to grow in terms of its coding of individual open ends. Aside from the actual codes themselves sometimes not making sense and being mis-coded, Canvs often incorrectly tags emotions. 

For our use case in particular, I wish there was a way to upload all of my previous open ends and how we've tagged them using our previous code frame so that Canvs can learn.

I love the AI-assisted stories generated by canvs! It is so easy to use.  I can ask the AI feature a question related to my project and data set and it provides a well-written summary. Whether it be related to product attributes, benefits or sentiment, the AI feature is well-developed enough to make sense of my verbatims, in a very short period of time! I've experimented and found that using filters in combination with the AI feature produces valuable summaries to include in my reports. I can export the summaries, or just do a simple cut and paste.

I do have to make sure that I am using the appropriate filters when I am building out my dataset so that the questions I ask on canvs AI will be based on the corresponding data. 1. Canvs has a great AI on its own that is always improving. However, the ability to write rules using easily understandable boolean logic allows the feedback to be categorized exactly the way you want with high accuracy all in one elegant formula.
2. The support team is absolutely amazing! Chat is always available and helpful, but if a deeper discussion is needed Canvs will pull any and all necessary team members to provide details on the platform.
3. I was skeptical of 42 emotions and was used to the traditional positive, neutral, and negative sentiments, but the difference between annoyance and anger or joy and ecstasy provides a humanized detail that resonates with our senior leadership on a more personal level. Having the alternate emotional frameworks allows for a more summarized emotional state if 42 is overwhelming.
4. Not being directly integrated with a survey management program seemed cumbersome at first, but now we see the level of flexibility it provides us when any raw feedback can be uploaded from any platform with an export function.
5. Canvs has showed continuous effort to imrove their product and has added many new key features such as trendline visuals and the ability to re-process your updated rules to past uploads.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

As much as I love writing rules in Canvs, the more complicated the rule is the slower the rule builder becomes, and for me, I tend to feel that lag sooner than I'd like.

Canvs provides our 'why' behind the score better than other text analytic tools in the industry. The amount of manual work this tool saves our company is invaluable. Canvs paints a picture of our customer's voice allowing us to visualize the level of impact a 'code' may be having on the company, region, call center, product, etc. We can better coach our associates, understand customer challenges by segment, and get to the bottom of issues quickly and at a high level without sacrificing the details found in reading open ends.

My favorite feature is the AI Story Assist, which queries your data and is like ChatGPT but your your unique dataset. It provides helpful summaries that explain the data and the key findings in a quick and digestible way. This was a great tool and selling point for our team and clients.

It is helpful that Canvs AI also allowed us to upload multiple datasets and we could look at the data at different levels for analysus (total vs question level). It provided graphs with trends and supports findings with callouts. For a complex study with a lot of data we were able to harness it all in one place.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

Some of the UI was not as intutive for me while I was trying to use the platform. Our rep was great and walked me through demos and trials several times. It easy less easy to adjust themes - findings the place to do so and making the changes at first. 

I also ran into some issues with some of the themes themselves - the themes would play back the question text, instead of findings the areas of interest I needed. It didn't drill down to the level I was looking for, but with some reprocessing we were able to get it much closer.

We need to be able to review and understand open ended data quickly and scalably. We have our own tools but they take longer and need to intake 1 OE at a time. With Canvs we have more speed and can handle more at a time. Our team is also interested in emotion and how that impacts consumers behaviorally.

The ease with which we were able to get up and running with large data sets for Canvs.AI to start analyzing was very impressive.  In addition, Canvs provided training for my team and had a high-touch approach when taking on a new client.  

The ability to distill 7-8K records of qualitative data into meaningful categories and allow us to start framing up potential solutions and opportunities saved us many, many, person-hours.  We were shocked at how much time this saved the team in terms of what it would take to do this manually.

The ability to connect social platforms for social content monitoring is really, really easy to use and keeps things easily integrated to our overall process.

Another thing that I should point out was how great the onboarding process was and how strongly our team feels supported by our CANVS account team. We're regularly in contact with them to discuss functionality and how to improve our usage of CANVS. It was easy to get started using for our team, and as the features come on board, it continues to be easy to learn how to best leverage them for our projects. Using CANVS in our projects has made a world's of difference.

**What do you dislike about Canvs?**

I have yet to find anything that I don't like about CANVS and I'm using it on a regular basis.

**What problems is Canvs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CANVS does a lot of heavy lifting on the analysis end. It helps us identify areas to probe further and break down large sets of open-ended feedback quickly, allowing us to identify differences by audience and further explore in our analysis process.

Uploading a file - sometimes it takes a long time to upload - even 2 hours. When using rules it can take even longer.
