  ### 1. A remarkable, high potential product that is unstable.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank J. | Director of Database Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

It is a powerful tool for automating routine tasks.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

The application must be restarted multiple times a day. Bug identified 3 years ago. They still focus on new features. I've been using Automate since version 5. Up to 9 (excluding the initial release of version 7), this product was very stable. From 10+, lots of problems.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scheduled and unscheduled tasks. File transfers internally and externally via SFTP and AWS.

**Official Response from Ravi Dirckze:**

> Hi Frank,
I am Ravi Dirckze - the Technical Product Manager for the Automate product line. I know you've been working with our Support team. Would you be open to having a conversation to discuss your experience and share share ideas for the future of the product? I look forward to hearing from you.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Limited High Availability Server Options

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Business Process Automation
Desktop Automation
File Delivery
The tool makes it very easy to solve simple business problems quickly.

  ### 3. Time saver, and also motivating since people don't want to be held up doing repetitive tasks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel W. | IT Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Very user-friendly programming, and the Helpsystems team is really friendly and helpful

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

In my opinion there really should be a dark mode, that would be really great

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

There should already be some programming knowledge prior to using Automate, not because of the need to know any languages or anything of that sort, but because of the way of thinking and the way of approaching problems.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very repetitive work that would take a very long time to complete can be done automagically almost effortlessly once the program is properly set up.

  ### 4. Great tool for automation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

I like how easy it is to create automation tasks and also how it interacts with a terminal software i use as it allows me to create jobs that are repetitive.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

I like everything except the reporting features. You can still work with the reports, but this is the only area I find difficult to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Test it out using the most difficult job idea you might have to ensure this is for you.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest solution is doing repetitive account changes. Since this can be built using the terminal feature it frees up time for employees to work on non repetitive accounts. This saves the company I am with cost since it means less part time help is needed.

  ### 5. Simple and Versatile Automation Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dinny H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

It is a powerful automation tool with plenty of features. Now you can have one place to administer your jobs and with ease. You jump directly into setting up your jobs because it really is that simple to get started. The tool makes every job easier to troubleshoot as it displays which step went wrong.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

File watching could be a bit faster to trigger (comparing with systemd.path).

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Give it a try and discover yourself how powerful and easy this product is.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer need to run jobs on legacy servers using ild unsupported ciphers. I can administer everything from one place. I can easily reuse previously created jobs.

  ### 6. Great program with even greater support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex S. | Automation and Monitoring Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Automation is at the core of my job. We move thousands of a files a day and the way that automation integrates with other software such as the office suite, SQL, SFTP, etc. it's allowed us to create workflows for all our needs.

Best part of automate is definitely their quick support. They've been consistent at helping me resolve any infrastructure issues I've encountered as well as following up about my open tickets..

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Only dislike, which may be subjective to how many workflows I have, is the time it takes the UI for a workflow to open up. Probably also the need to purge the event daily through a script rather than having it built into the interface to do.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

It's a great program, but make sure to educate yourself on certain things before hand before you go out and build automation. Things such as sql constants, constants, agent groups, etc.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly file delivery and auditing our processes. Making table driven automation. The benefit of automation is having a scalable structure as we onboard more clients without the need for additional headcount.

  ### 7. Michael was great

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew G. | VP-Mortgage Lending, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

The team was very flexible and adapted to our needs.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

The project was very dependant on one person. If Mike was not available, I would be concerned the project would not have gotten completed on time.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Blend to MC-LFC

  ### 8. ARPA

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bunty C. | IT Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Best features I liked about are make calculations fast , extract the data in specified form.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Pricing is high in market place , if e compare with MS tools.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

This has all abilities to do all functionality that we can use in our daily business, so i recommend to administrator team to this software.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Progress commerce prepare agility, Improve compliance & chance management, Improve client relations/service ,Cost management, Drive innovation, Drive income growth , Create internal/operational efficiencies, Reduce time to market, Enhance choice making

  ### 9. We used Helpsystems Automate to simulate repetitive tests that our team runs on regular basis...

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

friendly use... ability to detect screen captures and analyses images...

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Inability to run more than an automation workflow with screen detection by the same agent... when we addressed the issue with HelpSystems, the limitation seems to be caused by OS and not a product one...

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Helpsystems Automate to simulate repetitive tests that our team runs on regular basis...
Its ability to simulate agents and then validate user experience is very powerful...
We use many thick applications without APIs where we can't run regular scripts to automate...

  ### 10. AutoMate Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Customer Service before purchase. Met and helped me set up what I needed to get off and running.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

From my experience I don't have any negatives to report

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taking thousands of paper and converting them to digital then uploading those digital papers to an online database for easier retreival.

  ### 11. Great all round automation tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Benjamin K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Automate is a great allround Automation tool that can do both front- and backend automation without writing any code what so ever. It's extremely easy to learn and easy to manage. ROI is easily achievable in almost any organisation since you don't need a lot of time to go from an idea to a task that works in production.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Not much, sometimes individual components can be updated a bit quicker so you get access to the very latest versions of SSL and encryption cyphers a bit sooner.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Don't wait, do the free trial. Next, next, finish and you're ready to go.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have phased out a LOT of manual labour using Automate. Some examples: recurring file transfer (MFT), Accounts Payable, invoicing, supplier management, accounting. Since it can connect to almost any system you can really integrate a lot of things that needed manual intervention before.

  ### 12. Automate BPS/RPA is a comprehensive automation tool.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

This is a great tool for performing all forms or routine tasks, file transfers, or any other basic functionality. Its also fairly easy to program but some scripting experience is helpful for complex automations.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Automate is able to open other programs and interact with the program on the screen. I've had quite a bit of trouble getting this to work on a consistent basis but it sounds like HelpSystems have been making updates in this area.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Automate RPA is a very good tool and HelpSystems is actively looking to make improvements in its capabilities and ability to automate across a variety of platforms.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We initially purchased Automate to help with file movement & ftp processes. We like Automate better than the other solutions because it allows us to perform more automations than your standard FTP Automation tools from other providers. Because of this we've been able to automate several other processes that previously required human intervention.

  ### 13. Intuitive product - lots of OOTB actions to get you started

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

How intuitive it was to learn and use from the start. There are 600+ built-in actions to get you started, and it's easy to plug-in your own scripts to have AutoMate utilize for what it doesn't offer natively.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

The calendar view that shows the jobs scheduled to run. There needs to be an easier way to filter it down; but more so than so, the calendar is very slow to populate. I also do not like the the forums anymore. The design and ease-of-use of the original forum (under Network Automation) was much better and easier to use before it was moved into HelpSystems forum. Also, the performance of Task Editor needs to be significantly improved. It can be very slow while debugging a task. In v10 and prior, it was quite responsive but with v11 it significantly decreased in performance. Not sure if the porting to .NET was a factor but this is a definite improvement area.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Make sure your business understands the benefits of implementing RPA. Poll the organization well in advance so get a feel of the areas in can bring benefit and have some realistic use-cases lined up when you roll out. Even better, take advantage of the free trial that is offered.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're still learning the benefits, and we're looking to further expand automation across the company. We currently use it for managing files to/from our FTP server, pulling/pushing data from/to internal systems, reporting, etc. Recently it has been a tremendous time saver in assisting us during the coronavirus pandemic with processing PPP applications.

  ### 14. Automate

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Pretty easy to set up new task, very stable.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Sometime it hard to find out what's wrong. Error handling is not the best.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fetching and manipulation of files

  ### 15. Easy to use tool that quickly adds efficiency

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oumarou A. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Ease of use, granularity and flexibility. Great support from HelpSystems

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

So far, I haven't comme accross anything I dislike.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automation of our Data Retention Policy

  ### 16. A tool that helps us out and is as easy or as complex as you need it to be

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg G. | SQL Database and Business Intelligence Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

We do a lot of ETL and automate helps supplement some of the tasks that SSIS or SQL doesn't do as easily. We've found several uses for it beyond our initial interest and honestly, there are so many options that we haven't even found a need for yet. I'm quite sure this product will meet future needs as well.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

There are times triggers double fire or don't fire. Not sure if it's app setup or our environment. Crashes sometimes, but a reboot usually fixes most issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

There are a very large number of options for using AutoMate from ftp tasks, to grabbing a file and emailing it to a distribution group. It's got FTP tasks, AWS tasks, Windows Server service management tasks...it has a LOT. I find that this is a much better solution for consolidating tasks/processes I'd normally use Windows Task Scheduler for because I don't have to hunt around multiple servers to figure out where I put automation in place. It's all in one console. If you're looking for ways to automate or even just streamline repetitive tasks, you should at least consider this software.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping automate our on-demand database ETL processes, moving files in and out of the apps we use on a daily basis to make processes faster (i.e. moving data between our ERP and Payroll systems), and automated notifications to keep employees from having to babysit processes. The benefit is that it saves time. We under utilize it.

  ### 17. If you can do it by hand, I can "Automate" it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Automate allows me to rapidly streamline the work that employees do repetitively. I have a very inexpensive desktop computer at work that does thousands of transactions all day and all night long. I used to have dozens of people doing these by hand and they of course had human errors on almost every report. Now I have automate doing that work and the people on my team are focused on much more added value tasks. Automate is so well integrated with Excel, SQL, Microsoft Exchange, Windows and others that usually I have a new application running in only 1 to 2 days (After using Automate for nearly 15 years, I do now have a considerable library of routines that are tightly linked with internal GE Healthcare databases and systems, so I can rapidly get data, analyze it and report it out incredibly fast). My systems alert me and others around the world with text messages, voice on speakers, and email when certain events occur. We have leveraged this capability with LEAN processes including Jidoka across very complex transaction systems.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

In a very small number of cases, the performance speed of the most recent versions has gone done. I had to re-write some tasks to speed them back up.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Automate has very powerful features. You can make interfaces to company specific implementations of databases, email systems, websites, etc. If you have a team doing many transactions by hand, you can easily automate them with Automate!

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solve many types of problems at GE Healthcare where we design and manufacture major healthcare equipment. We monitor large transaction systems and identify issues in real-time. We perform summary reports and transmit them in a variety of methods. We analyze CAD models, download relevant information, and prepare Augmented Reality visualizations. For several years, our field teams could send a simple email to our system and get back all kinds of details about orders, shipments, waybills, etc. We monitor shipments and inform field teams by email or text message about heavy equipment, or equipment that requires special tools to install. We create electronic dashboards with "real-time" status that have been displayed on monitors around the world and are viewable on HTML web pages at the same time.

  ### 18. Automate Enterprise Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Huge number of Actions: from simple file system actions to complex SQL connections.
Simple, but effective GUI: Just drag, drop, and configure the actions
Excellent support: Call and 99.99% of the time, you will be connected with an expert. They are all Tier 3. Urgent or none, you are connected right away. Need a remote session, just ask, and they show you how to do what you are stuck with.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Searching for strings in workflows, and tasks could use some improvements, but with direct access to the backend SQL database, you can do pretty complex searches.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Gather all your requirements before shopping around
consider connectivity to various resources
Do you require running tasks in other servers.
Take time to evaluate products in a real world environment.

...more

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems Solved: complex, multi-conditional workflows, and tasks
Benefits: rapid automation scenarios. reusing modular tasks for different workflows

  ### 19. Automate is a time and money saver

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Defense & Space | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Automate is a reliable product that I can depend on to run almost any application at the chosen time. It never forgets to run something.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

My problem with Automate is I depend on it too much, when the machine it is running on freezes the jobs don't run and I forget to check on them because I consider it automatic.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

If you have jobs you run every day you can make them automated and reliable with Automate.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We run repetitive jobs on a schedule and can depend on them to run. We are a manufacturing company and to run a daily MRP regen (long running job) it needs to run during system down times. With Automate we can set that up and forget it, knowing it will run.

  ### 20. Very useful automation tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arthur d. | Web Applications Developer, Backend Process Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

This tool pretty much covers any process within our technology requirements - from pulling up records from the database, formatting reports, to sending and processing emails. It even does network-related functions like copying files, uploading to FTP sites, etc! We have been using this tool for years and we really find it very very useful! I am a developer/programmer by profession and I always find integrating this tool in most of my processes rather than developing the codes for them.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Bug fixes can take a long time! I reported a valid bug and the Tech Support team validated it and was given a bug Id for when it is scheduled for fix release. It took us almost a year to get that fixed!

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

I fully recommend this tool - It is really extremely useful and I have not seen anything that does the same thing. Other tools do not compare with what it has.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I have mentioned, we pretty much utilize this tool in almost all of my internal I.T. processes like the following:

- kicking batches that update our database records
- generating report from database query and sending it to recipients
- copying/deleting/moving a files within our network
- exporting/importing a file from FTP
- managing our internal help/support emails like automatically cleaning inboxes
- automating page form submissions when we have to update our pages thru CMS-provided portals. This saves us hundreds of manpower hours, not to mention the costs if we have to do it manually.

And a lot more.

  ### 21. Automate By HelpSystems Makes RPA Integration Easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Todd G. | Owner, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

There are four factors I look for in a software solution: The "toolset" the software provides, the learning curve of the tool, support strength, and cost. Automate ticks all the boxes on the positive for my company and my customers.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Automate is a great tool. We use it in a variety of use cases in-house and with our customers. The only issue I have had is the lack of support to automate Chrome. However, version 11.2 just came out a few days ago (as of the writing of this review) and that issue has been addressed. At this point I would say Automate does everything we need it to do!

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

We wholeheartedly recommend any of the Automate suite of RPA tools. We used to use Selenium and proprietary means to perform tasks that we now have Automate doing, and it has been a revolution for us and our clients. Automate's visual IDE (lower learning curve), low cost, excellent support, and robustness are what attracted us to it in the first place. You can't go wrong with Automate!

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RPA has impacted our business by allowing us to branch into a new revenue stream. As technology consultants, we are used to recommending (or even building) software solutions. What we have been able to solve for one client in particular was their need to move human resources from placing online orders with manufacturers to spending time on the phone with customers and filling orders. Using Automate enabled us to put a workflow into place where a Bot is pulling the invoices, logging into the manufacturer's online ordering portals, and placing those orders. That move alone has saved our client over 40 hours per week. That is an annual labor savings of 2,000 hours. We use Automate to create reports and track invoice payments. To that end, have a vendor in the financial industry that buys our largest invoices from us so that we can avoid the traditional 45 day net terms we have have with one of our large clients. That vendor, after I showed them how Automate works and how robust and easy it is to use, adopted it to speed up the invoice collection process and shorten the financing approval time, which means we get our funds much faster than before. We are now receiving approvals of our invoices and the proceeds of those invoices within three days rather than ten days. That has helped bolster our cash flow, which we appreciate immensely. They couldn't stop thanking us for recommending them onto Automate.

  ### 22. Automate RPA is a game changer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Printing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Drag and Drop features
It doesn't require a programmer.
Easy to learn.
Very Powerful solution.
Lots of different options.
We looked at other RPA solutions and they required extensive programming knowledge and more difficult to implement.
We were up and running within days of getting the software.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

The agent computers are unstable. Requires periodic reboots. The disconnect from the host often.
Utilizing IE as the default browser for tasks is not preferable.
QA process of their software releases is subpar. They break things in releases that were working fine.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are streamlining manual tasks. Examples include sales reports, accounting reports, checking system uptime. Items we used to do in scripts, we do now in Automate. It is centralized and easy to manage. With just 1 task, we saved a person 3 hours a week on manual reporting.

  ### 23. Awsome tool

AutoMate combines eaysiness with powerful functionality

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

There's nothing in particular. AutoMate perfectly meets my requirements.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

The systems work like a Report Admin who can send alerts when data is present and nothing when it's not. We use it for Server monitoring, Data alerts, Even ping testing to ensure network stability.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Its a shame we can't migrate licenses to other servers as the OS needs upgrading.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Great tool for small and large IT depts to eliminate repetitive tasks and system to system tasks and communication/flags.

  ### 26. HelpSystems Automate - price/performance balance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mining & Metals | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Highly capable solution, very competitive pricing. We reviewed other vendors extensively and Automate had the best balance of features and price. The simplicity of the software also allowed us to implement solutions in-house rather than hire a consulting firm.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

Online help is lacking, and searching for help between versions (e.g. professional vs. enterprise) is sometimes confusing. Overall, moving from professional to enterprise was a cumbersome step.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Consider Automate before pulling the trigger on a more expensive solution such as Blue Prism.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automate RPA has been used to give personal time back to multiple employees by automatically pulling web reports at night rather than require the employee to do so.

  ### 27. No code - Yes click and drag!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabiano R. | Fabiano R. Macedo, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

It's very practical because you simply drag and drop the command you want, without the need to write code. It does not have to be a programmer to develop, but it is necessary to know at least the logic to facilitate and it is easier to create automation for generic windows.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

I encountered several errors when creating program to open internet explorer. I believe this functionality can greatly improve.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

I recommend to user who no-programmer, because it is easy to create automation for generic windows, but is necessary know at least the logic.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The OCR feature provided a great opportunity to reduce cost and time saving as the process was run by a third party company and the demand was too great to convert image to text in excel.

  ### 28. Easy to get started and use

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

The user interface is intuitive and lets you get started with the product faster. Any type of job can be scheduled including python scripts and calls to web services.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

there are no downsides if you choose the correct use cases - this goes for any technology.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using RPA to bridge the gap between modern and legacy applications that have no out of the box integration methods.

  ### 29. Quality Automation Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Railroad Manufacture | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Ability to interact with disparate systems with ease. The software allows multiple ways to edit, transfer, data between multiple OS'es and systems.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

The software is a little overpriced, hopefully Help SYstems will realize that and correct it.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Don't be afraid to give it a try, it is a powerful solution.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FTP automation, AD integration.

  ### 30. Product fits niche for terminal emulation

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark F. | IT Manager, Machinery, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

The product supports terminal emulation which allows you to automate legacy software that may not be possible (or economical) in other ways. There are also many other abilities in the software such as web and ftp automation. It has quite a wide range of options.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

The development environment is rather clunky. You either have to use a "wizard like" development style that utilizes lots of drag-n-drop and wizards, or you can use a rather undocumented, extremely verbose XML style language.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

The product is great for our needs, which was easy terminal emulation. Although I automate way more than what Automate does for us, I would not consider switching our other automation activities from our current .NET programs to Automate. ETL, file transfers, database actions, etc all have a better solution for a developer. A non-programmer might consider using Automate for some of these actions.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the software to do terminal emulation allowing us to automate legacy software (for the purpose of integration with another app). It was either that or try a 3rd IBM programmer to integrate new software. The software was much cheaper than the programmers.

  ### 31. Automate BPA Server: A crucial tool for our IT Infrastructure automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc D. | Computer Services & Infrastructure Manager for EMEA & Asia Pacific, Packaging and Containers, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Automate (BPA Server) comes with an enormous set of functions ( Actions and triggers), has a clear and intuitive interface. The way you put together a task/workflow is very logical and what perhaps most important: "help" is also very clear and gets you on the way quickly if you're stuck with a problem.
Another great feature is that you can switch from the easy drag & drop (no coding) method of developing, to text mode and add custom code to create even more complex tasks.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

We used a complex code in BPA v.9 which suddenly doesn't work in v.10 and Automate support wasn't very helpful in resolving the problem.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Automate is one of the best tools I've used for business process automation. Yes, there are probably better and more extensive tools out there but you always need to look at features/cost. For its price, I have very little doubt that Automate/Automate BPA Server is one of the best in its segment. Before we got Automate BPA Server, I looked at many products and although some seemed similar in features, none came close to to Automate in terms of clear and professional interface and workflow. True, there are some features that are missing but you will find that in all products so it's a question of "can I live without them or not?" or "can I get my results though a different approach?". Don't forget that Automate also supports VBScripting, Powershell, DOS commands as well as its own coding language.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use BPA for tasks, simple as replicating data from point A to point B to extracting data from AD, SQL and other sources and processing this data for different purposes. BPA interfaces with our ERP systems for EDI and ETL tasks, ...

  ### 32. 97% Satisfied. I usually can find a work around.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William W. | Emergency Physician, Health, Wellness and Fitness, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

The use of actions that can be customized allows you to build tasks that are very specific. When the goal of automating a process is achieved time and money is saved. Because there are variations in the digital world that cannot always be foreseen, the tasks do need to be monitored. I like the ability to receive a text if an error occurs.

The support forum has been very helpful. When I started using AutoMate I used it constantly. Now, not so much.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

There are certain errors that occur that I cannot understand. The main one is "Cannot find focused window". If the window is focused, how is it that the software cannot find it?

Moving from one major version to another does not always go smoothly. Your previous tasks may need some adjustments to run properly.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

When evaluating AutoMate I was impressed with the relaxed "try it out and see" approach. The other company was extremely pushy and wanted you to purchase upgraded versions to include what AutoMate had in its regular package. The OCR capability was particularly important to me. That came with base version of AutoMate.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are creating charts for billing in a very controlled process. The billing company will charge us for each chart that is sent to them. If the chart is non-billable we would be charged for that chart as well. We can now appropriately create the appropriate charts to send to the billing company. These tasks usually take 3 hours to run daily. This actually saves about 10 man hours.

  ### 33. The easiest way to schedule jobs and manage processes!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony E. | Network Administrator, Insurance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

The best part of AutoMate is how easy it is to create tasks for any situation. No prior scripting knowledge is necessary. Our company has been using AutoMate for about 10 years now and it's become an intricate part of how we do business.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

I can't think of something that I don't like about it. It does everything I want it to do.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

They give you a free trial. I suggest you use that and see for yourself. I understand that my words mean little. Take a trial run, you won't be disappointed.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use AutoMate to schedule FTP downloads and uploads, run reports, and cleanup old files. After completing the job we have AutoMate send email notifications so that we can be sure it was done completed. The product has saved us countless hours of scripting or managing these things manually. We can focus our attention on bigger projects.

  ### 34. Love this automation product - it's extremely powerful and support is also excellent.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ross W. | President, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

It can do everything! It is now doing the work of at least 2 FTEs, but it doesn't need breaks/vacations/training # ; ) Support is excellent too, when an issue occurs or you need ideas on how to accomplish a task - support does a great job helping out.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

I prefer products that are "all or nothing" where you don't have to purchase additional "modules" to do certain tasks.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Dedicate at least one resource to spend a lot of time getting things setup, tested, and implemented. It DOES take a lot of trial and error to get things going, but after things are running smoothly it's fairly hands-off.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We automated about 25 sFTP tasks and moving files from here to there throughout the day. The folder monitoring is a great feature and helped us by kicking off tasks immediately, instead of waiting on a certain time to run them.

  ### 35. Awesome automation tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim H. | VP of Technology, Design, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

We have a large number (hundreds) of user-specific reports which need to run automatically and be emailed out. Automate handles the task with ease. We also have files that transfer between some of our suppliers and ourselves as often as every 30 minutes. Again Automate handles this for us with no problem.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

It has awesome capability with Excel. I wish it could interact better with our legacy system.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

Try it now. You will not regret it.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a service which analyzes our purchasing needs on-the-fly. When purchase orders are created on their system we need to pull them down (using FTP) to our own system. Automate handles this by polling the FTP site every 5 minutes and pulling down any new files. Clearly this removes the individual user from having to do this manually throughout the day.

  ### 36. Great software, but high annual maintenance costs that don't provide much

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

Fairly easy to automate large tasks involving complex and differing data types from multiple types of systems at once.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

The base software is expensive, but with all the features of the software, it's really worth it. My problems really comes from the high annual maintenance fees $1500+) and what you don't get in exchange for them. Updates to address issues are incredibly slow and sporadic - as an example, issues I reported as a problem in the v10 beta in March 2014 weren't fixed until two and half years later in August of 2016 with v10.5. Also, in the previous version, v9, you could load the software on a workstation and connect to a licensed server for free, but in v10 that feature was removed without warning so they could get additional license fees. The tutorials and examples on the site are largely out of date and neglected, and so was their blog until very recently. While they did produce a bunch of new features with v10 (including finally having x64 and x32 versions), it was released over two years ago, and there hasn't been any communication about when new versions or features can be expected in the future. It's also rather unfortunate that there's no automatic check or alerts for updates - you have to manually check for updates, which then have to be manually downloaded and require a full software uninstall (needs server reboot) and reinstall.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've fully automated user onboard and offboarding, several types of regular HR and Accounting reports / functions, and data synchronizing between systems, all of which saves a lot of employee time so they can work on other things.

  ### 37. Good overall - very flexible product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

The drag and drop interface for the workflows, and the flexibility of error handling. The ability to interact with any window that can appear on the screen is great as well. It definitely improved the overall efficiency of our department.

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

The errors that are produced when something fails can be a little confusing, but once you get the hang of it they do make sense (most of the time). The upgrade process is a little odd - you have to uninstall the current version and install the new version - which is odd in this day and age of on the fly updates.

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

I would definitely invest in their professional services for training on the product. We bought but haven't been able to attend yet, so we have had to figure some things out ourselves when the training would have answered that for us.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a lot of business processes that required a lot of intervention from my staff, and this has allowed us to automate the majority of those tasks - so that my staff is free to just do verification rather than the actual work.

  ### 38. Why I Use AutoMate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

In 2012, I started looking at different products to automate all of my company’s manual processes. Which was time consuming and montane work. We have automated over 100 manual processes using the following products from Help Systems. Robot Scheduler, Skybot Scheduler and AutoMate.
The reason I like AutoMate is that I can use this product in conjunction with Help Systems other products or by itself. AutoMate allows me to connect to UNC Network Drive and move file from one server to the other, The SFTP option is grate because I can download files for days or weeks in the past, Combing Excel workbook, Sending Secure Email to vendors, Merging text files, Connecting to SharePoint. AutoMate has definitely improved our daily workflow process and I will looking for more ways to use the AutoMate to make my Company work process better each day. For me saving time is saving money. Therefore, I would recommend this product to any company who is looking for ways to automate their manual process

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

You cannot discount from the server without locking the system

**Recommendations to others considering Automate®:**

If you are like me who does not like to manual processes, then you will like this product

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved several daily, weekly and monthly manual, this has cut down on human error moving files to our vendor, like our payroll files and other.

  ### 39. Furthers Lean Six Sigma in Legal Evidence Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Automate®?**

**What do you dislike about Automate®?**

I can't say anything that displeases me, honestly.

**What problems is Automate® solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to automatically move evidence from intake to backup/DR systems, validate the copy and log a report of each. It saves time from billable resources handling these tasks. I also use it to lookup client/matter numbers from a database with no API.
