"Robust Payroll Budgeting Module"
What do you like best about Budgyt?

Recently Budgyt added the ability to roll up departments into regions and regions into entities, so essentially three layers. This will allow us to budget multiple locations under one entity wherever this is needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Budgyt?

It might be interesting to allow various charts of accounts and fiscal years for different types of businesses. There are reasonable workarounds for these issues in Budgyt, but it isn't designed this way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from James McCoy of Budgyt

Thank you Matt for the review. In response to the various chart of accounts issue. If a Category is to live in a different Group depending on Department then while doing the setup, the complexity of tracking user permissions, hierarchy roll up and many other things become very, very difficult to understand and maintain. We have found after onboarding over 1,000 companies it is better to have a universalized COA if you want to consolidate your finanicals across multiple different businesses. For instance, if Rent Expense is in COGS in one business but in Opex in another then all readers of the financials will be confused about rent in a consolidated roll up. It is better to make two different Rent categories with different codes and description to reduce confusion.

"Budgyt is awesome!"
What do you like best about Budgyt?

I found a small programming issue on a report that I brought to James (Founder and CEO) attention, and received a same day response, with a follow up that the issue would be resolved within 3 business days. Now that's service! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Budgyt?

I would like to be able to view data sheets from two different scenarios at the same time (on 2 different monitors) However as soon as you go to one, it wants to refresh to the other scenario. That may just be beyond their control, as a cloud based product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from James McCoy of Budgyt

Hi Kathleen,

Thank you for the review. We have made the variance amount from the Comparison dashboard as hyperlink to the Variance Analysis view that let's you compare the category across two scenarios against all departments by month. This is the view to use if you want to compare the same category across two scenarios. It has further drill down on the variance on this view as well.

What do you dislike about Budgyt?

I have no dislikes with the software! The team at Budgyt work hard and provide great customer service! I needed a custom chart for a Board meeting, and the team was able to provide it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Finance Management with Easy Setup"
What do you like best about Budgyt?

I really appreciate Budgyt for its simplicity in both uploading data and providing straightforward presentation while still offering the ability to drill down for more detailed information. This feature is incredibly useful as it allows managers to review department income statements efficiently and provides the finance team with an easy way to identify any coding oddities. Additionally, the initial setup process for Budgyt was very easy, which made the integration seamless for our team. Furthermore, the ability of Budgyt to give managers access to only the information they need streamlines our operations. I'm also impressed with Budgyt to the extent that I rate it a 9 out of 10, and often recommend it to colleagues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Budgyt?

I would like to have demos of all the features, as there are aspects like the FTE/payroll piece that we are not currently using. It would help to see these features being demonstrated so I can conceptualize how they work and potentially integrate them into our processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from James McCoy of Budgyt

Hi Angela, Thank you for the remarks. We will add these types of over view videos to our video academy. We can show you the way any feature will work for you. We like to hear your requirement and advise on the best way to use Budgyt to solve that. After onboarding over 800 customers during the past 13 years we have seen a lot budget models and our platform can handle most any requirement.

"Intuitive Budgeting Made Easy with Budgyt"
What do you like best about Budgyt?

I love Budgyt for its ease of use and intuitive design. It has made budgeting and forecasting much simpler for our small nonprofit organization. The platform is incredibly user-friendly, not only for me but also for others in my team, as it is quite easy to teach them how to use it. This intuitive interface has greatly streamlined what used to be a complex and cumbersome process in Excel, significantly enhancing our productivity. Furthermore, the initial setup was pretty straightforward, thanks to the supportive team at Budgyt. They took the time to understand our organization's needs and mapped everything out for us, which made the transition seamless. Overall, Budgyt has transformed our budgeting process into a much more efficient and less stressful task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Budgyt?

I find that Budgyt has limitations with its integration capabilities. Although there have been significant updates to allow for automatic downloads directly from QuickBooks into Budgyt, it currently only supports automation with one company at a time. This limitation is inconvenient, especially when managing multiple entities, and it would be beneficial if the automation could be expanded to accommodate multiple companies simultaneously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from James McCoy of Budgyt

Hi Jen, Yes i agree getting multiple QBO APIs in place would be great. We are aiming to examine that in Q1 2026 as we now have a plan to address the multiple COA between entities and how to consolidate those using the QBO identity codes. See if you have three entities and they all have rent and they have the same COA code but QBO behind the scenes makes each of those Rent Categories a unique code and the challenge has been to know how to relate those to the one universal rent or in some cases that rent needs to be in a different roll up group. So coding for all the variations has been a challenge.

"Effortless Budget Management with Stellar Support"
What do you like best about Budgyt?

I love Budgyt for its ease in managing our non-profit organization’s budget and financial reporting. The ability to easily view actuals and update projections using our cost-centered model of accounting is invaluable. I find dissecting our financial information through Budgyt's multiple dashboard views to be particularly impressive, simplifying complex financial data into understandable insights. Additionally, I appreciate the great support from the Budgyt project team, which has been very helpful. The initial setup was straightforward and guided by the Budgyt team, making the process smooth and stress-free. Finally, the integration with Intacct accounting is seamless, which enhances our workflow efficiency significantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A powerful budgeting tool"
What do you like best about Budgyt?

Where do I start? Budgeting is the most important part of the accounting cycle, in my mind. If there is not an understanding of how funds come in and go out (and a plan for tracking/managing those funds), how can an organization measure their performance and determine where they are going? Budgyt is a powerful tool that can help your organization with financial management.

The implementation team is knowledgeable and helps you get off the ground. The support team is there for follow up questions. The features in Budgyt are easy to learn/use and can be customized to fit your organization's needs. The employee module and related HR formulas are great tools to help budget and forecast personnel costs. Speaking of forecasting, that is another one of my favorite features. Through creation of different scenarios, it's easy to view data under multiple assumptions. Budget does not break like an Excel workbook can break, and does not require extensive knowledge of advanced Excel functions in order to perform budgeting and forecasting tasks. I have the fortunate opportunity to work with Budgyt on an almost-daily basis and it's one of the reasons I love my job! We work exclusively with nonprofits and it's an affordable, feature-packed tool that helps our clients budget in a collaborative and transparent manner, with the end goal of Budgyt providing timely, accurate and useful information that helps drive decision-making. What do you dislike about Budgyt?

Honestly, I can't point to anything specific that I dislike about Budgyt. I haven't come across a situation that isn't "workable" within Budgyt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great collaborative tool!"
What do you like best about Budgyt?

I love how detailed Budgyt is and how easy it is to use as a collaborative tool in our org. Having different scenarios that I can view to compare is critical. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Budgyt?

If you/your teams aren't super familiar with accounting practices, it could be confusing to use as a stakeholder. Additionally, I wish I could have two different views open at the same time. For example, if I'm trying to have my budget view open and make updates to my Actuals, I can't have the line items open on two different screens. This causes me to have to screenshot budget items to update on a different screen. It's not ideal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful, User-friendly Budgeting & Reporting Tool"
What do you like best about Budgyt?

Love the Budgyt platform! Very intuitive and easy to use, with capabilities that allow users to get more detailed and complicated as needed. Allows us to enter data in detail (or summary) in a way that makes it incredibly accessible and easy to read for non-finance users, which is ultimately a huge time saver for our finance team. Everyone on the Budgyt team that I have spoken to or worked with from sales to support (including the CEO & founder who took one of my training/implementation calls) has been awesome. The training was great (the video academy might be my single favorite & most-used/recommended training feature in any program ever), onboarding and implementation were made super easy (as far as those things go), and ongoing support (on the rare occasions it's been needed; it's been mostly out-of-the-box questions/ideas that I've brought up post-go-live) is excellent & very personable - huge shout-out to "budgyt guru" Aileen who has been immensely helpful from day 0 to the present, anticipating our needs at times before we even did. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Budgyt?

My only 'complaint' is that, while several additional features that have been implemented since we began using Budgyt (dashboards, cash flow, balance sheet) I am still anxiously awaiting the #1 item on my wishlist - live integration with Sage Intacct API to eliminate manual import of actual data. But I'm confident that when it arrives it will work correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
