"Best Coding Companion"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

What I appreciate most about VS Code is its simplicity and ease of use. Unlike some other IDEs that can feel heavy, VS Code remains lightweight while still offering all the features I need. I primarily use it for C++ and Python development, and the available extensions, such as auto-complete and error highlighting, are especially helpful. The interface is also clean and minimal, which helps me stay focused and avoid distractions while coding.

I use it almost every day for C++ and Python assignments, freelancing and it integrates easily with GitHub and other tools I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Honestly, there isn’t much I dislike about it, though I did find the setup process a bit challenging as a beginner. Getting the correct extensions installed and configuring all the settings took some time, and I ended up watching a few tutorials before everything was fully ready. Aside from that, it works very well, but I do think the initial setup could be made easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lightning-Fast, Versatile, and Packed with Powerful Extensions"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is lightweight and starts quickly, even with multiple projects open. The extension ecosystem is extremely strong - automation frameworks, linters, debuggers, everything integrates smoothly. IntelliSense and auto-formatting help reduce basic mistakes while writing test scripts or utilities. Built-in Git support makes it easy to review changes, resolve conflicts, and commit without switching tools. Debugging across multiple languages (JavaScript, Python, Java, etc.) works well for test automation and troubleshooting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Installing too many extensions can slow down performance over time. Some extensions conflict with each other and require manual tuning. After updates, certain extensions occasionally break or behave differently. For very large repositories, memory usage can spike Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient, lightweight and fully customisable-the ultimate code editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

What I like, best about visual studio code is its age of use and the fact that it’s lightweight, but full of features that may coding past and more efficient, it’s highly customisable and integrate seamlessly with tools like great and various extensions, the ease of implementation and frequency of use a high because it’s quick to set up and work smo othly, even on large projects while it’s not a fully featured IDE out of the box, it’s still versatile and powerful enough for most development needs. However, many advanced features require extensions and customer support can be hard to get compared to other platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

One downside of visual studio code is that while it’s a powerful code editor, it’s not a full IDE by default, so you may need to install additional extensions to access some advanced features. Some developers may find the initial set up for integration with other tools, a bit tedious. The lack of official customer support can also be a downside compare to other platforms as you are mostly relying on community forums for help. Additionally, while it’s highly customisable, it may require more time and effort to tailor it to specific workflows, which might not be ideal for beginners. "Powerful, Lightweight, and Extensible: VS Code Supercharges Development"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is a powerful yet lightweight code editor. Its extension ecosystem is outstanding: with thousands of extensions available, it can adapt to almost any workflow or programming language. The integrated terminal, Git support, IntelliSense, and built-in debugging tools help it feel like a complete development environment. AI-powered extensions like GitHub Copilot and Kilo Code also integrate seamlessly and can significantly boost productivity. It’s free, open source, and cross-platform, which makes it accessible to everyone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The main downside is that VS Code can start to feel heavy and slow when you install too many extensions, since it can consume a lot of RAM and CPU. With very large monorepo projects or more complex workspaces, the performance can degrade in a noticeable way. Also, while the settings and configuration system is flexible, it can be overwhelming for beginners because there are so many options, split between user and workspace settings.
