"Software AG webMethods,a strong ESB platform."

What do you like best?

The consultation and services from SAG is incomaparable. I have never seen any product company providing so much content online for the common issues ,the vendors encounters. Also, the consultants from SAG are very prompt , whenever a ticket is raised to provide solutions quickly.

What do you dislike?

Certifications-I recently enquired about taking up the certification from Sydney location .As I am working in webMethods for more than 8+ years , I thought to get myself certified. However, I was being informed that I can give certification only from Bangalore,India or otherwise I would have to wait for atleast 5-10 peope who are interested in giving the certification exam from the location.

I strongly feel that SAG should remove such restrictions and should ease the certification like their competitors(Dell Boomi, Mulesoft etc). Being in the market from so long, they should provide online courses and should even allow people taking up certifications remotely. Also, they should keep the certifications prices very reasonable( I enquired certification, which was 30000 INR .It is very costly for everyone. Not all the companies will reimburse certification charges) .I believe for anyone, learning would be the first step to think if they really want to use webMethods for their integration solutions . If we restrict it ,then we might end up loosing customers,as Mulesoft and Dell Boomi have kept their learning as an open source and much more convinient than SAG.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Keep a watch on the new releases and announcements from SAG.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have been using SAG webMethods from more than 8+ years and I believe it has helped us strongly for B2B solutions and A2A solutions. Also , the EAI implementations are quite easy and simpler to build using SAG webMethods components.

"Suitable for your dimensionable needs"

What do you like best?

what i am more conviced is the interface (Integration Server) in order to set the acls and control who is going to access and where, and test the services you are publishing/serving.

no matter if you are planning to deploy one or a bunch of projects, you are able to isolate them each of another using this tool

What do you dislike?

the installation and integration of their different products is not very natural and familiar, and you will need skills and some previous experience.

In the other hand, is very robust and when you become certain know-how, is a very robust setup

Recommendations to others considering the product:

To begin with this tool it is very important to receive specific training.

It's very easy ling with Load Runner tests.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Isolated and delegated deployments, segmentation of permissions.

"Powerful ESB Platform"

What do you like best?

Integration Server are very powerful if well setup and implemented (we process millions of messages per day). Designer tool helps to develop fast, and it is easy to train developers from other technologies to develop webmethods flows.

I like the Innovation Spirit of Software AG and I am confident that the product will be supported and follow technological evolutions for years.

What do you dislike?

Licencing is too expensive. The need to develop monitoring system to have a more convenient monitoring of interfaces running on our platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

webMethods is the good tool for EDI , ESB and EAI with any connectivity. Be careful to have a good sizing and follow implementations best practices to ensure it becomes a success.

"The Ease Of Use Of The AG Designer Software Has Made It The Best BPM Tool With Which I Ha"

What do you like best?

The Desginer offers many facilities for multilayer development, its lapse of learning and understanding is shorter compared to other 2 BPM tools that I have used previously. In just minutes you can create and deploy a BPMN in the IS without so many complications and the best of all is the broad and easy integration of services through adapters that adapt to almost any back-end. As for the utilitarian libraries, the software includes a very complete public library that facilitates and complements the developments, besides allowing the facility to develop and expose services in java to preference. In my experience I have worked in 2 different banking entities with this tool with successful results. They only have to improve the support and without a doubt the Software AG Designer would become one of the top tools of the BPM market.

What do you dislike?

The direct support with the company is not so good and the community is very scarce.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Considering the market and its costs on top BPM technologies, I would recommend using the AG Designer Software since it has it all.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

BPM integration solutions in a recognized bank for a credit system.

"Software AG - WebMethods : One of the Top Class Middleware Tool for an Enterprise"

What do you like best?

Overall its one of the top middleware tools which suits the Organisation's need to provide solution in all architectural patterns - like SOA, A2A, A2C, B2B, EDA etc. One of the strongest feature of the product is its Messaging Layer - Universal Messaging that helps you design a topology for all patterns coming under Asynchronous Flows and patterns. The ESB also provides you a wide variety of utility level services which eases your integration development to a great extent.

What do you dislike?

One of the drawbacks of this tool which Software AG is planning to address in its upcoming release is on its Cloud Offerings like providing a multi-tenant Cloud based IPaas which will be a definite advantage for organisations who are moving towards a Cloud based Architecture for their Enterprise needs.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Wait for release of IPaas version. The latest version getting launch has a lot to offer in terms of API Management, Containerisation in Docker etc.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

WebMethods addresses most of your business problems and provides all the necessary components to help you decouple your Source and Target Systems. The biggest advantage being the ability to move through Transition Architectures to a Target Architecture state with minimal impact on the end systems.

"Easy and intuitive operation with a Eclipse Based IDE. A really durable Service Bus"

What do you like best?

Easy Development with Flowservices. But also the possibility to create complex Javaservices. Easy Way to Create Webservices and SQL Adapter. I also like the easy Deployment Solution with Jenkins. Easy Creating Web Graphical User Interface.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes if you work with Big Data from the Database and Hashtables/Lists you will face the maximum exceeded JVM Memory. The IS is slowing down. What i not so really like is the Design Quality of the CAF Framework for Web Graphical User Interfaces.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Please better the possibility für Upgrading and Installation and please Fix Universal Messaging...

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Providing Data with Webservices from Backend. Deploying Web Graphical User Interfaces for workers. Createing Data Interchange Services.

"Enterprise business process integration software "

What do you like best?

Allows exisitng legacy and modern applications to work together using IS adapters (Websphere MQ Adapter, JMS Adapter, Oracle Apps Adapter , JDBC Adapter), inbuild services like appendToDocumentList etc. with variety of protocols. Integrated platform that includes both service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business process management (BPM).BPM allows to develop business process in a graphical way.Business people jumps on-board and particiapte in the design phase. Sandbox Availability for trial and hands-on.

What do you dislike?

Do not have much video tutorials on Internet to understand things quickly. For every new functionality, have to read overall documentation to start implementing. Very few tutes are available convering high level basics.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Whole suite by single vendor , be it Integration server, API management , BPM etc. I will say its a wonderful job by Webmehtods by reducing efforts and overhead to maintain different tools from differnet vendors.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using BPM to develop our business processes. Heterogenous Application Integration is done using Designer Integration Sever. Easy to troubleshoot since it shows graphical flow of message end to end.

"Software AG has fix for every Customer's problem"

What do you like best?

Software AG respond immediately to Customer's request. SAG engineer understands the problem very quickly and may provide first hand information that will fix the issue in most cases. If not, the SAG revert customer in a couple of days with exact solution that works 99%.

What do you dislike?

Due to geographic differences, Software AG may finding difficult in assigning same engineer who worked first on this issue. Due to assigning new engineer for the same issue, customer endup in explaining the issue again and again. This is bit additional effort spent by customer.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Most of our problems are product fix, authentication, adapter issues, SSL communicator protocols. For all these problems, Software AG do provided solution.

"webMethods very robust enterprise integration system"

What do you like best?

webMethods is a very powerful integration tool wich provides high flexibility when the interface design is complex and highly customised. The good variety of adapters has made integrations to other packaged application very easy. The great availaibity of product/support documentations make self-learning easy and effective.

What do you dislike?

The application patching/fixes experience is painful. SAG has changed the approach which now release product patches/fixes more often. Due to the short release cycle, some patches/fixes are not thoroughly tested. We had experienced twice that IS core fix has broken a core function in webMethods which gives system administrators very high pressure on regression testing and huge risks for implementtion.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With the implementation of webMethods in the company, we have modernised the interface design from old, inefficient file based transfer to robust eletronic data intechange. webMethods has empowered business with much better capacility. It provides much better flexibility to handle B2B requests from our customers and suppliers. It also largely reduced the development effort and complexity for our EPR and various different internal systems. It has definitely support the business digital footprint and transformation.

The number of adadpters available. The innovative approach of Software AG. The stability of the product. The ease of monitor your flows. The "flow" languages simplicity and strengths.

What do you dislike?

License model. You will never know what to pay.

Customer support needs approving in speed, product knowledge and language

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Use an external queue manager. Do the training before using the product, learn the "flow" language. Evalutate the adapters you are going to need so they meet your requirements. Enjoy!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use webMethods to realise integrations for about 7000 employees and 40 000 students. In areas ranging from class room access, grades and exams to our learning plattform

"Webmethods : A good tool but can improve "

What do you like best?

WebMethods is a great service that can allow you to share data between multiple software applications. It comes with a fully designed IDE that gives us access to everything we need to design and develop and complete the job on hand. But every IDE comes with a bit of learning effort. I worked with a team where we were trying to utilize webMethods and overall had a positive experience with webMethods.

What do you dislike?

Some of the product releases were done in a hurry which resulted in issues to upgrade our projects. This brought in a bit of confusion among the team but all in all everything was good in the end. Would suggest to patiently review the releases and release timelines

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ignoring the price the product, the benefits of the product are awesome. One has to sit and study the tool carefully and once mastered, there is nothing easier and smooth in the world.

"Comprehensive Enterprise Level tool suite for Integrations/BPM/Monitoring/Governance and more"

What do you like best?

I like breath of tools and applications for enterprise integrations, gateways, portal, data management, BPM, performance management and governance that SAG offers. Most products are integrated with each other OTB. BPM is event driven and supported by Universal Messaging, also integrated with Business process designer tool. Lots of pre-built functions to include in your own development. Integrated IDE for integrations, UI, BPM that also talks to central repository. Promising offerings on the cloud.

What do you dislike?

Suite is huge and require lots of learning particular for folks not familiar with BPM/ESB or event driven design approaches. Lots of documentation but not much of examples. Some help exists on developers blog and web site but not enough for such huge amount of information. Training is highly recommended.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Don't underestimate value of training and learning curve. Investigate and buy products you want to integrate from the same vendor (SAG in this case).

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use WebMethods/SAG product suite for BPM, Integrations (IS), monitoring, UI and Governance

Business uses process modeling (ARIS). Integrating of all products require only configurations.

Webmethods Flow language when done right produces more compact code faster then traditional languages for specific applications such as integrations and mapping.

"I'am Integration Architect and Business Analyst in new IT architecture project for InterRisk "

What do you like best?

Flow language which allows business guys understand data mapping between integrated systems and CDM on webMethods ESB.

Part of API Gateway I mean Enterprise Gateway which allows to meet requirements of Polish Insurance Market Regulator.

What do you dislike?

So far I did not recognize anything that I should say that I dislike.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

On-line integration between Portal for Intermediaries (Agents, Brokers) and Back End system

(current integration was based on xml files stored on FTP daily but not on-line)

More secured integration. Portal is in DMZ, Back End in LAN that's why we decided to use Enterprise Gateway to meet requirements of Polish Insurance Market Regulator.

(The connection must be initiated from LAN to DMZ).

"Easy to learn and adapt Middleware Technology using webMethod"

What do you like best?

Web Methods services are mostly Java based service model and it is very easy to understand all predefined objects. Also, it is easy for Java based front-end developers can easily understand and learn the web method middleware products & become expertise in middleware.

What do you dislike?

The unique webMethod designer tool is a bit hard to adaptable by other middleware users who are using IBM Integration Bus, TIBCO Active Metric and etc., The competitor's products are easy to develop designer based workflow, but webMethod has it sequential node based workflow.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Easy of Use and All products are tied up in one place for your middleware requirement.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Service Oriented Architecture Middleware platform architecture can be easily build with webMethods. It has good compatibility to integrate with other third party product like DataPower, API Management and etc.,

"If you need a reliable & feature rich integration platform"

What do you like best?

Having worked on various integration products for a long time, webMethods remains my favorite. The ease of use coupled with reliability and scalability are core to it's functionality. It also helps that, no matter what kind of integration you're looking for, you're likely to find a match in it's product offerings e.g. SOA, BPM, CEP, B2B etc.

What do you dislike?

Certain product release (specially for new one's) seems to be rushed and result in major issues for an upgrade project.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

webMethods is an expensive product, however, it serves very well if implemented for suitable functional needs. Please do due diligence and spend time during requirements, sizing and architecture of webMethods implementation.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In past few years, I've implemented eCommerce, webMethods platform-as-as-service solutions, payment processing etc. The benefits in terms of saving cost on transaction processing via VANs or other paid data centers have been significant.

"webMethods : quite good integration platform"

What do you like best?

* Thanks to its easy to learn Flow language, it’s quite easy to build even complex integration processes

* As build on asynchronous messages exchanges, BPM are more robust against components outages compared to monolithic solution.

* Efficient clustered solution

* Lot of adapters

What do you dislike?

* Supervision tool (optimize for Infra) is only a joke at least up to 8.2 : It’s missing lot of important figures to really follow ISes’ health (I built in house monitoring based on Flow/Java probes + PHP GUI which is far far more informative than O4I is providing).

* Every patch campaigns needs long regression testings … due to bug and regression introduced by fixes.

* Starting 9.x, administration tools were totally jeopardized among several interfaces : IS Admin, MWS, Terracotta, UM, …

* not always OpenSources friendly. Especially, web services are quite limited (a shame for such product) and I had to fight against wM to make them usable by PHP WS clients : wM's WS stack doesn't support all variants of WS.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You need good Architects and good admin otherwise it is easy to misuse or jeopardize the platform.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As long as the architecture is mastered and strict development guide lines enforced, the ROI is very good and fast … despite the price of the product.

What do you like best?

webMethods comes with a capability to provide vast array of solutions. Be it cloud or on premises, it has got all the flavours of Enterprise Applications Integrations.

What do you dislike?

Upgrade process is bit tedious. Hopefully, with current dev ops initiatives, we will arrive at one click upgrade soon.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Integrating the applications is a big thing when the enterprise is spread across globally. Robust ESB of wM supports B2B, B2M and so on. The tool is easy to use.

"Smaller Project's Ideal tool"

What do you like best?

webMethods is an incredible administration that can permit you to share information between various programming applications and trade messages a great deal simpler. It has a full fledged IDE that gives you access to all that you have to fulfill this. There is obviously somewhat of an expectation to absorb information. I took a shot at a group of understudies who were attempting to use webMethods and we had a little inconvenience toward the starting however by and large had a positive involvement with webMethods

What do you dislike?

As a gathering we felt a general loathing for the way the IDE was setup. A portion of the elements that we would go searching for would be covered up and clouded in a convoluted interface. Others were more straightforward so it was somewhat of a give and take. Lamentably the backing for a venture of this greatness is somewhat missing and when we ran into issues and issues we thought that it was difficult to get help (We are understudies all things considered). On the other side of that since we were dealing with a school venture the application was somewhat thought up.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Easy to learn and use it for new user as well as for experienced users.

"effective solution, adapted to oriented service"

What do you like best?

oriented service (all is service), focus on data transformation - not on technical interface

use of standard for REST and SOAP - free adapter standard like jms

packaging of the solution facilitate development and allow to use db , scheduler, cache if needed

What do you dislike?

packaging of solution is imposed, we do not know how to deploy just a part of the solution (without db, scheduler, ...admin..)

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Digital project , IT transformation with legacy

webMethods solution helps loosed coupling , and manage oriented service and API development
