"Prism PPM Review"

What do you like best about Prism PPM (formerly WorkOtter)?

Prism PPM was created with the main focus of enabling PMs and PMOs to be efficient and effective. It isn't a resource management tool that realized it could capitalize on the PPM market by cobbling together a solution. Prism is streamlined and easy to navigate. We are empowered by the visibility it has brought from a project, program and portfolio level. This means, we can make educated decisions on prioritization, resources, budget, and so forth. Prism also captures back time for our PMs by automating routine tasks (E.g., Earned Value calculations) so they can focus on more value-add work. Before Prism, we ranked projects by how we "felt" was best. Now with the Business Value Assessment feature in Prism, we get an unbiased score for each project that shows how valuable it is to the business. Wow! That makes all the difference when deciding on what's actually most important to achieving our strategy; especially when considering budget or resource constraints.

I can't leave a review without mentioning the support that we've received from Prism. Their customer experience team and implementation specialists are top notch. Additionally, Prism has a vision and roadmap for continuingly improving their software. We appreciate their investment into their customers and product! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prism PPM (formerly WorkOtter)?

Their Jira integration was a HUGE reason for why we chose them. It was included (not an add-on) and had more customization than other vendors. We have found that when you have a project that has Jira Sync enabled, you lose feature capabilities. Such as the What-If Analysis doesn't work when you include Jira Synced projects. This means you can't do the more advanced portfolio and resource planning. Hopefully, this isn't a negative factor for long because in their roadmap they've committed to developing feature-parity in Prism for Jira synced projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The system provides solutions to problems facing a project manager every day. Data available for management reports is extensive without having to supplement with Excel, like other systems. Resource management function and reporting is easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prism PPM (formerly WorkOtter)?

Personalization of home page, dashboards does not work well making them useless.

user guide is very high level with no step by step on how to use the system. Detail instructions and user guides have to be provided by the implementation analyst.

Capability to track non-labor budget and expense should be enhanced for tracking project financials.

Similarly, function to fully track benefits (financial and non-financial) or KPI needs improvements.

Assessment should allow multiple types, for both projects and requests, rather than just business value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Prism PPM (formerly WorkOtter) solving and how is that benefiting you?

A PPM that is real time and bug-free - reduce number of clicks to save changes or update data, knowing that the system is working as expected.

Ability to generate management reports without using Excel - reduce time spent in generating PMO management reports.

User friendly UI for project managers - more efficient in managing workplans

"Love the new software - Highly customizable!"

What do you like best about Prism PPM (formerly WorkOtter)?

The drag-and-drop features make customization super easy. Everyone can set it up in ways that suit their own style, too. I have also gotten a lot of use out of the mobile views. We've been able to track time and log work that's been completed so much more efficiently, and changing schedules in real time has never been so seamless. Another feature I have thoroughly enjoyed is the ability to create comments that mention another user, which is then sent to their email. They can reply to it through the email directly. I believe we even want to try and find a way to work this into communications with our contractors and applicants. Oh, and the 2-way integration with Microsoft Project has made transitioning much easier for some of our staff since that's what we previously used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prism PPM (formerly WorkOtter)?

Since it was somewhat new software, we took quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to do some of the things we needed to do. The support has been very helpful, but for some of us, it's just not so easy to pick up for first-time use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Prism PPM (formerly WorkOtter) solving and how is that benefiting you?

WorkOtter has helped reduce scheduling issues, including important meetings and projects. Thanks to the 2-way integration with Microsoft Projects, it has solved the problem of transitioning hundreds of people at a time because we previously used Projects for this and can easily continue using it at the same time as WorkOtter to get used to the newer platform.
