"great and its free"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

If your shop is already using SQL Server, the there is no reason why you willl not use SSIS to automate some process and get your data into their respective tables on a daily basis with the freshest, or almost real time data. Create a package than looks in a folder for a text file that is dropped into it from your legacy system every evening, and load the data into a table. Join that table to another look up table, get the data you want and create your report with SSRS(also free with SQL Server) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

I dislike the small bugs that you encounter sometimes when you are trying to complete a task. You can easily google the issue you are experiencing and fix it, however. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

""The" Relational Database"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I work with Microsoft SQL Server since early 2000. The product is stable and mature, and the best is the "integration". Integration with Visual Studio, with Reporting Services, Analysis Services, Integration Services. Having your db on SQL Server you can easily creates OLAP cubes with Sql Server Analysis Services, you can create your reports with MS Reporting Services and your DWH/datamart structures with MSSQL Integration Services. Fantastic product for your business, excellent the AlwaysOn functionality and in-memory tables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The price over all. Also, the alwayson functionality comes only with enterprise version of SQL Server. Too much slow with xml data type, for that nosql document database (json-mongodb) are for now the best choice, I have to say. It's also a little bit "huge" in installation, and requires really a lot of hardware resources to get the best (CPU/RAM), and so the cost is high for the licenses.
