Some of the quirkier question they ask you while installing could be hidden behind an "advanced features" expansion so that it doesn't confuse people who are new to SQL and simply need a small DB created. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Senior Web Application Developer"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

MSSQL query syntax is very similar to MySQL, MariaDB, and other SQL databases.

MSSQL Server Express is free, but has all the features of the full MSSQL Server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

As a web application developer, it is sometimes difficult to connect mu web application running on Linux (Apache) web servers to MSSQL databases running on Windows servers. Connecting to MySQL on a Linux server is much easier, so I prefer to go that route when possible. However, once you get MSSQL connected, it works great.

SQL Server Management Studio is not as easy to use as other SQL IDEs I have used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
