"Hands Down Best Database!"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Ok, maybe I am a little biased because I develop on the Microsoft stack. But I have developed a lot of applications using other databases as well including: Oracle, MySQL, and Access. I was really surprised about how much Oracle was lacking as it seems to be one of the top Databases these days. I really don't see Oracle really being that far off from MySQL and MySQL is free! SQL Server is by far the best... most feature rich database in the world. I would take a free SQL Server Express instance over any Oracle database any day of the week Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

HUGE learning curve. I've been developing with SQL Server for years and must admit that I am very good, but know I still have much to learn... especially when it comes to administration. Granted, I am a applications developer who integrates with SQL Server almost daily... I am not a DBA. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Microsoft SQL - Why SQL is better"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL provides more speed, security and more advanced database features in later releases... it's amazing. I love mostly the new features that 2016 brings to the table of increased database query functionality. It brings the database searches to a whole new more in depth meaning Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

What's not to like about SQL - it's so amazing! The database has come a long way - sure 2008 was a pain but SQL as a whole is a lot better than some companies storing their entire database in access or excel! :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A solid and much improved platform for data storage"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Very fast and very stable. It is a feature rich data system and with updated tooling (SSMS, SSIS), discovering and remediating issues in the data storage environment is becoming easier to do which lets me focus on improving things rather than always playing catch-up. I like the disaster recovery options that I have available. I have the choice of making anything from a very basic backup to disk up to and including a robust DR strategy that can restore to any point in time in the last two weeks that is stored both on-premise and in the cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

One of the most expensive data storage platforms around. Can be a resource hog if your designs aren't smart. Becoming very good at performance tuning requires some effort. The fact that Excel and MSSQL (both Microsoft products), can be flaky when used together. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I like the easy SQL querying language and I'm realy enjoying it with SQL server, I like the query check, also I like the replication as it saves the company in some hard times, I like the DB tasks like import and export data between SQL servers' DBs, also I like the descriptive error messages, I like the shrinking DB feature, it also always save big space after purging, also I like creating roles to control permissions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Some hangs and slowness with huge queries Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
