"The most productive DB engine"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I like its easy way to connect to any SQL server around the world, also I like the feature to extract data from live client's SQL tables to our testing server which save a considerable amount of time to backup and restore, also I feel very comfortable while querying data, I like also the verify "Check" feature before execute any query so I'm confident that my query will succeed before I executing it, It is very easy to connect to SQL and manage data from most of programming IDEs, also DB shrinking always save us to free big space for new clients Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It really needs to be more secured as before we deleted the data by mistake and finally we lost a client because we couldn't recove the deleted data completely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to administer, even for non-db specialists"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Many IT professionals tend to shy away from database management as they feel it to be tedious and require special knowledge. MSSQL, while complex, gives a UI that makes the system much easier to use. What I truly like best is the idea of what SQL supports, being able to create applications that run off of a SQL database, that streamline business operations. Often times, many businesses have a very manual way of doing things, but a simple C# (or other language) application can increase efficiency, visibility, and profitability very quickly. It is applications like Microsoft SQL that make these applications possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The non-intuitiveness of security, or managing multiple users. For a company without a dedicated IT staff, scripting may be tedious. When I have came into an organization that had already or was currently adopting Microsoft SQL, the headache they experienced when managing the security of multiple (and new) databases was great. The previous statement rings true more so in an environment lacking active directory and containing a substantial amount of users. However, through building SQL statements, creating databases and copying security settings becomes a non-issues. All that to say, without someone who is familiar with databases Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Microsoft SQL is a solid stable product."
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

We have had no issues with MSSQL since I have been working with it and that is very comforting. It has performed as advertised and I feel comfortable recommending it to others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

I am not a fan of the licensing model and I think it is more expensive than it should be. Smaller businesses are often unable to afford it and have to use other SQL database options that are free or inexpensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
