"Standout Visual Automations That Scale a Small Marketing Team"
4/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

The automations are the standout for me. Once I mapped out our Game Ready lead cadence—Day 0, 3, 5, 7—I was able to build the entire sequence visually and then just let it run. Paired with role-based form routing (rep vs. physician vs. patient), it allows a small marketing team to operate like a much larger one, without having to babysit every send. What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

The two-way sync story with outside systems isn’t as clean as the marketing side. When your CRM or system of record lives elsewhere, you end up doing more manual, one-directional data movement than you’d expect from a platform this capable at automation. As a result, reporting across those boundaries can feel patchy and inconsistent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Automation That Runs Reliably"
4.5/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

The automation is what keeps us sane. Between our weekly newsletter, Faith & Money Fridays, and all our campaign sequences, ActiveCampaign lets us set things up once and trust they'll actually run. Tagging and segmentation make it easy to speak to the right audience instead of blasting everyone with everything. And honestly, being able to pull ActiveCampaign data into our other tools for daily check-ins has made it feel less like "the email platform" and more like the backbone of how we track what's actually working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

The learning curve was steeper than I expected, especially early on when I was trying to figure out how automations, tags, and lists all talk to each other. Some of the reporting could be more intuitive too. I still find myself wishing certain metrics were easier to find without digging through multiple menus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ActiveCampaign gave us more control over personalization without pushing everything to development"
5/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

The Automation Builder, segmentation, and CRM are the parts of ActiveCampaign we rely on most, because they let our marketing team build fairly sophisticated journeys without turning every adjustment into a development request. We use a mix of tags, custom fields, site behavior, engagement, events, and deal stage to determine what someone should receive next, rather than exporting audiences or maintaining a separate set of manual lists. The platform supports multiple triggers, splits, conditions, and a large library of automation recipes. For us, though, the value is less about how many recipes exist and more about how much logic we can keep close to the campaign itself. One unexpected benefit is that these automations have also tightened our sales process. When a deal moves stages, tasks, follow-ups, and messages can fire automatically instead of relying on someone to remember the next step. We also use Predictive Sending once a campaign has enough historical activity for it to be meaningful. It does not replace our overall send strategy, but it helps us avoid sending everything at 10 a.m. simply because that is what the team has always done. Reporting has become more useful as well, since we can connect conversion tracking, attribution, site behavior, opportunities, and business goals, rather than judging performance only by opens and clicks. What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

Pricing takes more planning than the headline number suggests. The cost can shift based on contact volume, the plan you choose, and any add-ons, and features like SMS, Custom Reporting, Transactional Email, WhatsApp, and Enhanced CRM may add another layer depending on how your setup is configured. That flexibility is helpful because we don’t have to buy everything at once, but it also makes the true total harder to estimate from the base plan alone. If you have a larger database, or a team that already knows it will need several advanced capabilities, I’d recommend modeling the full stack before migrating, rather than realizing six months later that the real price is very different from the one used in the original comparison. "User-Friendly Interface, Powerful Features, and Excellent Support"
5/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

The interface is user-friendly, and I appreciate both the support provided and the easy access to information. Also the integration with other CRMs is quite simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

I don't have any issues with the current options and functionalities, but I would suggest adding an option to create a form that cannot be tracked. For example, I have a form used by the sales team to add clients to our newsletter, but this process ends up tracking their activity on the website. If there were a way to use a form with a 'do not track' option, it would be much better. At the moment, we have to use a private browser for each record, which is not ideal. "Powerful Automations and Reporting That Drive Strategic Decisions"
4.5/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

The automation builder is the standout for our team - we run multiple email sequences (re-engagement, nurtures, promotional) and being able to visually map out the logic, branching, and tagging makes it easy to see the whole customer journey at a glance.

The reporting side has been genuinely useful for our marketing decisions. We track UTM parameters through to GA4, which lets us see which channels are driving traffic and conversions (not just opens and clicks).

Segmentation and tagging are flexible enough that we can speak to different segments of our audience without needing a dozen separate campaigns - we tag based on where someone is in their journey and let the automations do the rest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

The biggest pain point has been account-level settings that require support intervention rather than self-service. (Ex: our admin subdomain is still tied to our old business domain, and simply updating it isn't something we can do ourselves - it requires opening a support ticket and waiting on the back-and-forth.) For a business that recently began a rebrand, this makes a simple update unnecessarily slow.

We recently ran into an SMTP banner/reverse DNS mismatch tied to a subdomain from our old domain, which took some technical back-and-forth with support to sort out. The underlying issue wasn't ActiveCampaign's fault, but the diagnostic messaging around it wasn't intuitive - it took some digging to figure out what was actually causing the mismatch.

Automation building is powerful, but the interface can feel a little dated compared to some newer competitors. It's not always the most visually intuitive, especially for more complex multi-branch sequences - but I've been pleased with many of the recent updates ActiveCampaign has been rolling out in this regard. "Super Intuitive Email & Automation Builder That’s Easy to Use"
4.5/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

ActiveCampaign is easy to use. The email builder, and especially the automation builder are SUPER intuitive.

I love that you can use both the designer and html coder at the same time. This is especially useful for those that use AI to help them write and design emails but then want to edit and refine them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

ActiveCampaign is expensive compared to other email tools. And while it is worth the price, it makes it out of reach for many small businesses. I still recommend it to all my clients regardless of price.

Their support isn't great. I manage without it, but still important to mention.

Automations usually preform as expected, though I have had a couple get stuck here and there and it has been super frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Pricey & Email Builder Formatting Is a Pain with good Automations and some Integrations"
3.5/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

After using for years I know how it works, so I can quickly work out what is going and how to build an automation / campaign. It integrates well with typeform, and performance has improved in the past 6 months. The onboarding I received at the start was helpful and gave me a good starting point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

It is over priced for the features I use - email campaigns and automations. My biggest pain point is the constant reformatting in the email builder - every time I have to set font, colour, spacing in each block after pasting. Over time the integrations have been reduced, probably to focus on Napier / make which I can understand but is just another point to add in to your system. Not keen on the AI - not a feature I am interested in but I will be paying for. So overall, the pricing is the thing I most dislike and I have split my list as a result to use mailerlite. "A super complete, powerful, and easy-to-use tool"
5/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

What I highlight most about ActiveCampaign is that, despite being an extremely powerful tool, it is very easy to use. Its interface is clean, intuitive, and modern.

It is a fantastic platform for email marketing: uploading HTML email files is very simple, but creating a template from scratch directly within the platform is just as easy. Regarding contacts, it is very straightforward to create lists and apply segmentations without any hassle.

Another major plus is its native integrations with a wide variety of apps, alongside the ability to quickly connect via API if needed.

On top of that, the automations section is simply excellent. It features a great variety of pre-built templates, while also making it very intuitive to build one from scratch. With the addition of Active Intelligence, everything has become even better; they constantly roll out new features that save a lot of time on a daily basis.

Finally, I must highlight that the technical support and customer success team is excellent and always ready to help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

The only detail I would change is the organization of campaigns, as you currently cannot group them into folders, which would make management much easier. Also, because it has so many tools and new features, it can occasionally feel a bit overwhelming with so many options available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy-to-Use and Powerful Email Marketing Platform"
3/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

What I like best about ActiveCampaign is how easy it is to use, even for creating advanced marketing activities. It allows me to quickly build targeted email campaigns and newsletters for both existing and potential customers. The automation features are intuitive and help save a lot of time by streamlining repetitive tasks while ensuring the right message reaches the right audience. Overall, it makes managing email marketing campaigns much more efficient and effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

The platform offers many powerful features, so it can take some time to fully explore and make the most of all its capabilities. However, once you become familiar with it, it is easy to use and very effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Automation That Saves Me Time"
5/5
What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

What I value most about ActiveCampaign is the flexibility it gives me to create targeted and personalized email campaigns. The automation features make it easy to respond to different customer actions and guide contacts through a clear journey. I also find the tagging and segmentation tools very helpful, because they allow me to organize my audience and send more relevant messages to the right people. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

I think the pricing can become quite expensive as your contact list grows. Some advanced features are also locked behind higher-tier plans, which may not be ideal for small businesses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
