Clio helps me get paid. Clio helps me track my work. I think possibly the greatest asset is that it allows me to properly track my time and makes it easy to get emails in there. It does work with some other tools and has some decent, quite a big library of integrations. You can also build your own integration, so that's very helpful. They recently changed their expiration date year code, and you now have to enter all four digits. Not only is it confusing that they didn't let anyone know they were switching it from two-digit to four-digit, but to me is seems entirely unnecessary, especially at the beginning of a millenium. Smokeball's Archie AI tool is a tremendous help with or without your own forms to integrate case information across notes, documents, and emails to draft new and case specific pleadings, motions, and transactional documents in less than a minute. Overall the platform is easy to use and understand, and is a platform that you can tailor in both cost and implementation with existing file storage, payment processing, billing, and other law firm processes you already use. The Smokeball staff are very friendly and willing to lend a hand whenever you need, while the Smokeball Academy is a step-by-step learning and help guide on every aspect of setting up and using Smokeball. What do you dislike about Smokeball?

The "matter" approach was pretty jarring when my previous system filed and billed by "client." This made importing information into the system a bit of a process, but something that Smokeball on-boarding staff are very familiar with and helpful in designing an on-boarding plan that made sense out of the chaos. It can also take some extra time to load the web-browser based application and to understand the features that are only available "on the web" versus the options available when you instead use the optional desktop application (my preferred spot for working). What do you like best about CloudLex?

We have been using Cloudlex for three years. Working with them, from migration of the information from our old database to Cloudlex’s, training for our staff, quick action from them when submitting a ticket for support, and overall ease of usage of the product is exceptional. I previewed several programs prior to choosing Cloudlex and chose them because it has every function I wanted, from reports, event calendaring, and workflows that send us a task on a daily basis. What do you like best about Tabs3 Software?

My firm and I have used TABS for 25+ years, and I find it easy to navigate once you understand the ins and outs. There’s a vast array of reports and different ways to view your data and billing—some I’ve probably never even tapped into—but everything is just a keystroke away. Setting up matters is straightforward, and it conveniently defaults to the last setting used. Every time I call Customer Support, my issue gets resolved, and I always end up thinking I should have called sooner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?

I don’t like that the statement options are tied to the matter screen. For example, we list INITIAL, INTERIM & FINAL on all our statements, and we have to change that on the matter screen. Once you change it, all reprinted statements are marked with whatever the last Phase was that you entered on the matter screen.

Also, in General Ledger (when you enter a check), it would be really helpful if you could copy and paste. When you have an entry with multiple accounts where the cost will be split up, you add the accounts (or they are autopopulated from the last check) and then you should be able to split the amount evenly across the accounts by highlighting them and copying and pasting. You can’t do that there—you have to click into each account and enter the amount manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love that Memtime can make suggestions based on activity that I can just approve or adjust on my timeline, making it so easy to figure out my billing. I also love their documentation and customer support; as someone who works in tech, I've seen a lot of terrible documentation, but theirs is actually really good, and support is always so helpful. The initial setup of Memtime was pretty easy, with the process of installing, allowing access, and setting up categories and rules to auto-suggest timeline billing based on my activity being straightforward, with the rules working really well. I would like to see them add billing, both per client and on a project basis, and it would be nice if it could actually track across devices. I use my tablets and even my phone for work and that's not tracked. I’ve been using this software for over 20 years, and it has been the backbone of our firm’s operations. As someone managing a high-volume caseload, it allows us to work on hundreds of cases efficiently while keeping our team aligned. We can easily manage client profiles, reuse data, generate forms, and send complete case packets digitally, saving both time and resources.

One of the biggest advantages that we've been able to customize parts of the system to better fit our processes, which adds a lot of flexibility.

Overall, it’s a critical tool for staying organized and scaling operations. Losing it would be incredibly disruptive to our practice.

I really like how easy it is to integrate Case Status with our API. The customer service is always responsive, making technical support readily available whenever I have issues onboarding a client.
