  ### 1. TABS: Easy to Navigate with Powerful Reporting and Billing Insights

**What do you like best about Tabs3 Software?**

My firm and I have used TABS for 25+ years, and I find it easy to navigate once you understand the ins and outs. There’s a vast array of reports and different ways to view your data and billing—some I’ve probably never even tapped into—but everything is just a keystroke away. Setting up matters is straightforward, and it conveniently defaults to the last setting used. Every time I call Customer Support, my issue gets resolved, and I always end up thinking I should have called sooner.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

I don’t like that the statement options are tied to the matter screen. For example, we list INITIAL, INTERIM & FINAL on all our statements, and we have to change that on the matter screen. Once you change it, all reprinted statements are marked with whatever the last Phase was that you entered on the matter screen.

Also, in General Ledger (when you enter a check), it would be really helpful if you could copy and paste. When you have an entry with multiple accounts where the cost will be split up, you add the accounts (or they are autopopulated from the last check) and then you should be able to split the amount evenly across the accounts by highlighting them and copying and pasting. You can’t do that there—you have to click into each account and enter the amount manually.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TABS handles everything for us: billing, timekeeper entries, issuing checks for payments, and the firm’s general ledger accounting. We also use Practice Master for case management, along with all of our productivity and hour-recap reports.

**What do you like best about Tabs3 Software?**

I am currently the Business Office Manager for a law firm that uses Tabs3 software.  I have used many accounting software packages and this one has been my favorite so far.  I find the software is very easy to use, I like how it is designed, and the customer service is exceptional.  In my position, I use Tabs billing, AP, Trust, and the GL heavily.  I also use the Taskbill module to bill a few of my clients.  We use Papercut to track our printing costs and TABs supports integration with that product as well.  If you are looking for an ERP that does it all; Tabs3 is the answer.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

I really have no complaints about Tabs3 Software.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tabs3 is constantly pushing out new software or improving what they already offer.  For example, Tabs3 Pay is now available and included in our subscription.  Instead of using and paying another company to process online payments; you can now process those payments within the Tabs module.  We will be making the switch from our current vendor to Tabs Pay.

**What do you like best about Tabs3 Software?**

It is stable and intuitive.  The installation and set-up were truly quite easy.  Getting new users on board and familiar with the product is really very simple. The few times in 20+ years I have required support, they have been excellent.  There are a variety of modules (billing, financial, practice management) and they play well together.  It is very straightforward in exporting data for other applications such as Excel.  I use it daily in all aspects of my job.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

The updates are too frequent and can be a bit clunky.  The owners have begun a bit of a hard sell on other products and seem to be jumping on the dreaded AI bandwagon.  As I use multiple modules, including for my financials, it would be nice if they had a payroll module.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TABS3 is integral to our business operations.  From tracking time, producing bills, tracking productivity, identifying and clearing potential conflicts of interest, to prompt and accurate financial reporting, TABS enables us to have a constant finger on the pulse of our operations.

**What do you like best about Tabs3 Software?**

Customer support is top-notch when you need it, which is rare!  The software is intuitively setup to make your user experience more productive.  In addition, the software assists you in having a clean account.  The ability to email statements directly within the program helps to reduce postage cost significantly.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

I am not a fan of Practice Master but could imagine if I had a big firm, it would be a valued portion of the software.  I also find paying to be trained to use the software frustrating.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is fantastic for all billing of fees and costs.  It has a clean billing statement, which you can design to your standards; and makes reconciling your account very simple.  Accounts payable help track expenses, and General Ledger creates very relevant reports.

I love the Matter Manager because it has all the info I need quickly with toggles to get me where I need to be quickly. It's definitely my favorite feature. For a small to medium firm, I would highly recommend Tabs3 Software --I would rate it a 10.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

I don't like the Client Information section when we have clients with the same name. For instance, if my client is Jane Doe, but I have a totally different client with that same name, when I go to add the address or email address, it pulls up all instances of Jane Doe and automatically makes changes across the board. I don't want things to change 'automatically;' I'd like the option to decline that feature.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tabs3 Software helps us track clients' Trust accounts with precision and daily billable events, managing multiple accounts for each client on one platform.

Regarding the “automatic” change to contact information you are experiencing, the trick is to ensure that unique contact records (i.e., unique Contact ID values) are being created for each same-named contact. This prevents any edits from “snowballing” across the other records that use that same-named contact. If you would like to discuss this further, our Support Team would be happy to assist you. **What do you like best about Tabs3 Software?**

I think the dashboard is particularly user-friendly. I'm not a particularly tech-savvy person, so anything really complicated was not gonna work. This is very straightforward for the purposes that I need to use it for. I found the setup to be quite straightforward, and I was able to do most of it myself. Not being a very tech-savvy person, that was pretty great. The team was also very helpful and walked me through everything I needed.

I haven't used it long enough to have a dislike.  It seems pretty good!

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tabs3 Software allows me to monitor and maintain multiple separate fiduciary accounts, which was essential for my work. It was the only software I found that could solve this problem for me.

I like the font and honestly, the big bubbles in Tabs3 Software. I appreciate how there are various ways to get to the same result, which I think is super user-friendly. I love that I can see my hours by month, day, or client.

I think for new users, it could have a little customer service representative button that connects you to a live person because I just wanted to know a couple things instead of having a call. The AI prompts were too vague on the chat category.

Tabs3 Software solves billing issues by allowing me to contemporaneously bill on a second monitor, meeting firm hourly requirements. It provides detailed reporting to avoid double billing and helps track daily targets of 9-10 billable hours.

I have used many many billing programs in the past 30 years, and Tabs is definitely one of the best.  The ease of use, the information that you can obtain just from a quick tap of a key, and the help you can receive make it a very user-friendly program.

I do not have a downside at this point in time.

The ease of inputting billing and running the bills.  With some programs I have used, billing is an absolute nightmare.

Customer Support continues to exceed that of any other software program I use. The program scales easily from 3 timekeepers to 200+. The Receipt Allocation Report, which shows time billed and receipts received by timekeeper, is invaluable.

Layout in billing portion is somewhat confusing.

I like the ease of use of Tabs3 Software, especially for billing tasks. Although I wasn't involved in the initial setup, I was part of updating it, and they were very helpful in walking me through the process. I appreciate that support.

I've tried to do basically an audit trail, and that doesn't exactly exist.

Tabs3 Software has been a robust, comprehensive system for our law firm. We use the full Tabs3 Suite for our accounting needs and financial reporting, and it has worked well for us. Their tech support is also knowledgeable and helpful when we need assistance.

Tabs3 Billing is mostly user friendly, and users seem to like the Tabs3Connect option for keeping time.  I like the customization of billing templates.  The report features are nice, and we like that they can be exported.  I have found the support team to be very helpful.

I think the renumbering option for timekeepers is very frustrating.  I understand they want to sell more licenses, but if they would put a dated feature on renumbering, this could solve for that, but they seem to want to keep up charging firms with their current practice.

Tabs3 is very easy to use.  Our firm has used Tabs3 for well over a decade.  Training new employees on the system is a breeze and the implementation and integration with our daily work processes.  We use Tabs3 daily.  The number of features it offers is mindblowing!  Also, at any point that we need additional guidance on how to fix an error or customize aspects of the program, Tabs3's customer service is absolutely above and beyond!  They are fast to answer our calls, prompt to walk us through how to do what we need done, and always very kind.  The employees at Tabs3 truly make us feel valued as customers.

Honestly, I cannot think of any specific aspect that we dislike.  We love Tabs3!

It is a powerful suite of billing and accounting software (I don't use the practice management software).  It may take a bit of time for non-accountants to get used to it, but it is pretty intuitive after that.  Tabs3pay payment processing is fully integrated and less costly than the other big legal payment processors.  I appreciate how it has a feature allowing the user to set up and pay bills that recur monthly.

Seems to be designed for use by accountants, and would appreciate it if there were some more user-friendly features, like simple registers to see transactions and balances in bank accounts.

I really like the fact that you only have to enter in financial information once. In the past I have had to use Quickbooks in addition to another software program and I had to enter in information twice, once in each program which left room for errors.

I don't like the fact that in order to go to matter manager you have to enter the account number, it would be nice if you could enter in the client's name instead.

Tabs3 allows me to keep track of how much our clients owe and how much they have paid. I can see when I have sent out invoices and when a client has paid and how they have paid -  by check or credit card. I can print out reports for the partners to show how much client have in their trust account and when and how much they have paid us.

I like tabs for many reasons. Their customer service is great and very communicative. They are consistently coming up with new updates to make our practice more seamless. They have a very handy "how-to" website with easy-to-follow instructions on the many features tabs offers. Also, I really appreciate the video tutorials.

It's sometimes hard to navigate within Tabs software to find the feature and/or setting I'm looking for. I just wonder if there is a simpler, more intuitive way to organize & name things.

Tabs integrated LawPay which was hugely convenient for our practice and ability to bill & collect from our clients. They also added a "matter manager" function which I love! I love being able to go into a matter and click on different entries and have it take me to edit/view that particular entry. It makes it much easier to navigate through billing entries, statement templates, and client information.

The software works quite well for our firm.  The support for both TABS and Practice Master is excellent.  Good answers on the first call and fast response to email requests.  The support staff is personable, pleasant, patient and very knowledgeable.  We have also found that enhancement requests are taken very seriously and have seen several of ours make it into new releases.  We retained TABS support to help us convert from another billing system to TABS, and the process was an outstanding experience.  They helped us to identify the unique situations in our billing models, and their guidance made the migration to TABS quite smooth.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

Honestly, there is not much to dislike about working with Software Technology.  It is such an improvement over our old billing software.

Integrating matter management with billing has been a huge advantage for our firm.   We have used Practice Master for many years, and migrating to TABS for billing has saved an enormous amount of clerical data entry. The system-wide integration of client data, billing, accounting, etc., helps us track our finances and productivity very well. We tried other systems that integrated with Quickbooks, and we much prefer having everything under one software platform. Also, Tabs3 has the best customer support of any software company I have ever used.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

The way Tabs3 uses different modules adds some extra steps that seem unnecessary. To file a new case, you first have to write a check in the Payables module, post that check to the Billing module and the General Ledger, etc. I suspect there are reasons why they developed the product in different modules, but it seems a bit cumbersome at times. Like all software, there is a learning curve. I think things could be a little more intuitive if the backend integration was more seamless for the user.

When we used a billing program to bill our clients, and Quickbooks to track our expenses, we were always missing opportunities to recover advanced costs. Tabs3 helped recover costs for us right away. It has also helped us do a better job of monitoring income and expenses overall.

the new matter manager is my favorite thing of this program but it's not 100% perfect.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

i don't like that you have to go to different things to see everything you needed to see before but the updated matter manager has helped a lot. also it would be helpful if the trust info would print on a wip report at the top instead of the last page.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i've submitted several emails to the wishlist email but not everything has been answered yet. one problem i have is the pre-bill tracking report doesn't show numbers, so i have to dump that into excel as well as summary wip report and marry them together so i can have a list of the prebills i printed for the month and how much is to be billed for the month so i know if i need to nag an attorney if i don't get a prebill back from them. another as stated above is to have the trust funds information print at on the first page of a wip report, maybe even the balance due. if i would change what prints on the 1st page, take out anything that's unnecessary or move things around, it would help me do my job.

**What do you like best about Tabs3 Software?**

I love Tabs3 integration of accounts receivables and payables.  This software makes the monthly and year end reports easy and less time consuming.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

The least helpful feature is the time it takes to do the data file integrity checks and backups.  This could be better with a faster processor. I would like for the 2023 version to have the speed of Platinum.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tabs3 tracks all time and costs entries.   All of the firm's information is readily available.   This system is user friendly with minimal training needed which increases efficiency and productivity.

**What do you like best about Tabs3 Software?**

Case management, time and billing, and trust accounting are all seamlessly integrated (there are also other modules available that I don't use). It is especially handy to be able to add or change contact information for attorneys, courts, and other professionals, and have them available to and updated for all client files.  I keep a maintenance contract and find the tech support people very helpful in solving any problems I may have.  Hold times, if any, are short.  I  like the ability to talk to a real person in addition to being able to use the knowledge base articles.  Monthly newsletters point out issues and features I may not have even been aware of.  So even though I don't need or use many of the functions that are especially helpful for larger firms, the Tabs3 software is worth the price even for a solo with no staff.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

I do my document preparation in WordPerfect, not Word, so I don't really use t he document merge functionality in PracticeMaster.  I started with STI as a solo practitioner decades ago, later had associates and paralegals, and am now back to being a solo.  Many of the functions I don't need or use.  This isn't really something I dislike, other than wishing a slimmed down (and cheaper) version were available.  Note that pricing is based on the number of timekeepers, so I still  pay less for having a 2 timekeeper license than a larger firm would pay.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In general, it facilitates my vastly reducing the number of paper documents. There are too many benefits for me to list each, so I will only provide a few. It makes my time and billing very easy, and I am able to email statements on the first day of every month. It lets me reprint statements that the court or a client needs even months or years later (I have reprinted some even decades later).  The Matter Manager gives me a real time snapshot of unbilled time for a particular client, their last payment, and their trust balance without having to create a report.  Client ledger reports are great summaries I have printed out when a client needs to show a summary record of fees/costs billed and payments made. I keep notes of phone calls and client meetings in the PracticeMaster journal and have client emails automatically added to the journal from Outlook.  My bar association requires me to do monthly 3-way reconciliations of my trust account, and TAS allows me to print that out without my having to do any calculations. I can design and save various forms, add and configure fields, and otherwise customize the software to make it more useful.

The fast and easy ability to generate an invoice, edit the time entries and send to client.  Also like the PracticeMaster ability to capture case and matter info in a single location

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

Somewhat difficult to generate custom reports.  Also  would like to see a custom screen that resembles a timesheet for entering time electronically.  Practicemaster also does not connect well with document management systems like NetDocuments and Worldox.  Need to use those programs separately and lose the ability to manage entire case filed from Practicemaster.

**What problems is Tabs3 Software solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Billing bottlenecks.  It is helping us by allowing easy invoice generation and editing.

The best part of Tabs3 is the support.  Although we don't have to use it often, every time we have used it the support has been exceptional.  Tabs3 has also always been easy to use, but starting with the 2020 update, the interface was even easier to use.

**What do you dislike about Tabs3 Software?**

I don't like the constant requests to upgrade to Tabs3 Connect or the difficulty associated with upgrading to the Platinum edition.  Memphis does not have a reliable reseller in our area.

Tabs3 provides a single place for practice and financial management.  On the practice management front, it provides a location for document retention so we could get rid of another piece of software.

Sometimes, to meet the requirements of a client's billing guidelines, the steps within TABS can have multiple steps that may put some users off.
