  ### 8. A Game Industry Perspective on PagerDuty's Incident Response Solutions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Asaf A. | SecOps, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

As a SecOps professional in cybersecurity, I find PagerDuty to be an indispensable tool for enhancing our incident management efficiency. Its ability to swiftly aggregate alerts from various monitoring systems allows for quick identification and response to potential security threats, a critical feature in the fast-paced cyber environment. The platform's robust integration with a wide array of security tools centralizes alerts, facilitating easier management of security incidents. One of the standout features is the automated escalation policies, which ensure that critical alerts are promptly escalated to the right personnel, effectively minimizing response times and preventing potential security breaches from escalating. Additionally, PagerDuty's customizable alerting systems are invaluable in a SecOps setting, allowing alerts to be tailored based on severity or type, ensuring focused attention on the most critical issues. The reliable on-call scheduling feature ensures continuous coverage, which is essential for maintaining round-the-clock security.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

As a SecOps professional in cybersecurity, one notable limitation I've encountered with PagerDuty, particularly in its standard tier, is the lack of alert grouping. This feature is crucial in efficiently managing the volume of alerts generated. Without alert grouping, we often receive a high volume of alerts for the same issue or action, which can lead to alert fatigue among team members. This not only makes it challenging to quickly identify and respond to genuine threats but also increases the risk of overlooking critical alerts amidst the noise. The absence of this feature in the standard tier means smaller teams or organizations with budget constraints cannot benefit from this essential functionality, which could significantly streamline their incident response process. Implementing alert grouping in all tiers of service would greatly enhance the utility of PagerDuty for a broader range of users, especially in high-alert environments like cybersecurity.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cyber security incident response managment between IT, DevOps and SecOps

It makes it simple and quick to gather the information you need in one place, and integrates so well with Slack. It is so simple to understand and has now become our place for centralized management of incident outcomes.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

  ### 22. Jeli makes incident analysis easy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

I love the Narrative Builder and being able to import selected messages and entire channels from Slack into Jeli. This enables me to easily document what happened and when, and provide links to the actual Slack discussions that took place! I also really appreciate how friendly and available Jeli support is. They are always quick to answer my questions and I have seen many feature requests and the occasional bugs I find addressed very quickly!

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

There are a lot of different fields and places you can put information, and sometimes it can be a little confusing to know the best place to put different types of information.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jeli removed the tedius task that was searching around and typing up an incident report in Google Docs, and replaced it with an easy-to-use Narrative Builder that allows Slack messages to be imported and attached to events that are automatically displayed on a timeline! It is much easier to get content together for a prompt incident review.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi there, thank you for the feedback and wonderful review! We hear you that it can sometimes feels like there's a lot going on in the product—we are actively working on improving the initial onboarding and continued guidance in the app. Thanks again for the review, we're glad you're here!

  ### 23. "A pleasure to work with"

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chastity B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

We decided to use the Jeli incident bot to replace our homegrown tools for incident response and engaged in a trial of the full product as part of that -- we were honestly kind of bowled over by how everyone at Jeli was very engaged with us on switching to using the bot and eager to take feedback. We got great advice that really helped us smooth the transition, and almost everyone who has touched the Jeli tools has talked about how much easier things are with them and how they've really helped smooth out communications and data gathering.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

I honestly can't think of anything right at the moment -- the biggest issue for us is the cost of the full product for an organization of our size right at the moment, especially when it can be hard to articulate the benefit in the short term.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our previous incident managment process used a bunch of hacked-together Slack workflows that had a lot of friction when it came to opening incidents, keeping the rest of the organization updated, and taking notes for future use. This led to a lot of stress around incidents, especially for coordinators, and added an implicit level of resistance to even opening incidents. Using Jeli has made this entire process pretty seamless -- incidents are easy to start, it's easy to add updates to incidents (without cluttering Slack channels!) and now that we automatically open separate channels for every incident, it's easy to have one place to collect the communications around an incident. It's also making it easier for people to see the benefit of doing our communication in Slack rather than a voice or video call, where we tended to lose a lot of context before.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi Chastity, this is wonderful and helpful feedback, thank you for taking the time to write this. And it's such a great story—we love hearing how teams start with one part of our product, and end up finding so much more value in the full suite than they expected. And yes, we see our customers as partners—if there's anything we can do to help improve the way teams do incident management, we are here for it!

  ### 24. Simplifying the Full Incident Lifecycle

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Jeli has been incredibly easy to use. We were looking for a solution that would provide an approachable and scalable full incident lifecycle framework, and are very happy with our choice to select Jeli as a vendor. While we did offer Jeli training to our organization, most people were able to figure out how to use Jeli with minimal to no training. Jeli has allowed us to unify all our various other tools into one central hub for incidents. It has helped with our communication across the organization during incidents as well as coordinating various engineering teams during incidents. We also love that they continue to roll out new and useful features. Finally, Jeli's customer support has been among the best of any vendor we've worked with. When we have questions they are often answered within minutes, and when we've found small bugs they are normally fixed same day. We never feel like we are waiting in a ticket queue or are just a number on a support ticket. The product is great, their customer support is even better.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

We have not found much that we dislike. Occasionally we run into growing pains such as having specifics of our use case that have not yet been addressed, but normally those corner cases are fixed same day. The only real feedback I've gotten is that during the integrations (Jira, Zoom, etc) people wished there was some more detail around things like needed permissions in the integrating application.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We currently use Jeli for incident response. This includes communicating via broadcast channels during an incident, mechanics of running our incident response, integration of other tools such as Jira and Pagerduty, and facilitating collaboration during incidents. We are also using Jeli to create incident timelines for post-incident retrospectives and will be leaning more into the incident analysis part of the product in the future.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi there, thank you for taking the time to write such a thorough and helpful review. We love hearing how easy it was for your whole org to get onboarded with Jeli. Thank you for your feedback on our Customer Support team as well—yes, they are the best! And yes, we agree that we could improve some of the integration onboarding instructions—that's something we're actively working on!

  ### 25. Leading the way for Incident Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nina I. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Jeli has been fantastic to work with and they are at the forefront of incident management. I have been working with Lesleanne and her team for a few months now and they are always willing to help or take on feedback. They are changing the way that we do incident analysis, and they are always introducing much needed capabilities. It is very well designed and so easy to use.

I look forward to our continued work together and seeing what they have in the pipeline.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Jeli has so much to work with. The only downside is I need more time to play around with it!

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jeli is making PIRs fun and from those PIRs they are extracting really useful data when it comes to how people are experiencing incidents and it brings to light issues that may not have been clear before using the Learning Center functionality. I believe that LFI is really important for companies to really shift the needle and Jeli does this really well.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Jeli makes PIRs fun? That is music to our ears! Thankyou for this wonderful review, Nina. And yes, Lesleanne and her team are amazing, we'll definitely pass this feedback along.

  ### 26. Helping align our IR/IM

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Jeli has been a fantastic partner in helping to get our IR/IM house in order. We're able to use it to combine multiple disparate tools into a single location, make it very simple for our front line responders to quickly, accurately, and with a full audit trail respond to, investigate, and escalate incidents as the occur. The reporting and evaluations that I have seen thus far have been very helpful in identifying several opportunities for us to improve and that provides a lot of value for me. Jeli has helped at every step of the integration including creating new methods for existing application integrations. I am looking forward to using them for the foreseeable future.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

I would like a little more control over what gets ingested from Slack, including deactivated users prior to implementation of Jeli. The integration catalog could use more tools but I do know that they're working on adding more regularly and many I can get by with just using the webhooks in a pinch.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The largest problem that is being addressed in the consolidation of IR/IM processes across many disparate teams with many different tools.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi there, thank you for the review and the valuable feedback! We love hearing how Jeli helps orgs to find way to improve their processes and infrastructure. Thanks for the feedback on the Slack (and other) integrations as well. We hear this feedback quite a bit so it's definitely on our radar!

  ### 27. When it comes to functionality and integration with alerting systems, no one beats PagerDuty.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

The interface for this PagerDuty is just awesome that I use it during my financial works. The interface is of manageable size which eases navigation. Something that I also appreciate is the sound notifications that wake me up even when it is in the middle of the night. We integrate with tools like Jira thus increasing its functions that in turn aid our workflow.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

I find the night mode missing on the web view and it might strain my eyes too much when using it at night after very long hours. Additionally, the mobile app may have enhanced sound alerts for incidents and even added face id recognition to improve security.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PagerDuty has been a useful tool for handling unexpected financial Events smoothly. Immediate prompts notify me when there are urgent matters that require my immediate attention so that I can avert financial losses. As a result, this aspect keeps our financiers on toes while we maintain our operational efficiency.

  ### 28. Receive notifications anywhere in record time

**Reviewed by:** Aashi A. | Relationship Manager NRI, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

I like the way that PagerDuty caters to non-technical users with its user-friendly dashboard also variety of customization options for scheduling alert notifications.
its Crucial for 24/7 operations, they ensures swift issue resolution by promptly notifying available personnel in case of failures.
customer support is good as they are ready to help customer in any way.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

I do not observe any drawback in the PagerDuty as its a good platform and i must say they are doing best in this era by providing the variety of services

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PagerDuty enhances incident management by automating the identification and response to incidents, minimizing human dependency.
It also fosters efficient collaboration in cybersecurity incident response across IT teams.

  ### 29. It's wonderful to be able to receive immediate notifications in any situation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paulo B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2024

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Mobile apps that are easy to use and intuitive are even better. We can also receive alerts based on an incident in our email, SMS and Teams. It helps me keep track of my clients' issues when I'm away from my desk.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

It has a slight delay between apps on the desktop. It would also be great to publish lists for people who need to see them without needing a license to do so.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PagerDuty allows you to define groups to manage your team's package. It is a cost-effective solution for organization and helps create widgets quickly. Additionally, PagerDuty allows us to contol the communication bridge and allow people to manage the workflow.

  ### 30. Incident Analyst's most trusted tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pirmin S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

I like the flexibility of Jeli. It acts as a Swiss army knife for incident analysis and can support a wide array of uses to learn more from incidents.
I use it every day and it has made analysing incidents so much easier (and fun) compared to doing it manually.
Being able to pull in multiple incident Slack channels and individual messages allows me to tell more interesting and complex incident narratives. The end results with the visual narrative look better too.

Creating the narratives takes effort but it forces the investigators to pause and look closely at what happened. Investigators pick up on a lot more threads to pull on in the investigation and for the Post Incident Review meeting which leads to better insights and more engaging PIRs.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Could support conversations between incident analysts and readers of the report better

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Jeli for Incident Analysis (after incident is resolved).
Different roles use the tool to a different extent.
a) In my department at the higher level we use Jeli to gain an overview across incidents and make use of the exec summaries.
b) At a group level we also use Incident Narratives and Takeaways that allow non-responders to understand what happened and what we learned. It also allows us to see patterns.
c) Individual Incident Investigators, often Team Leads/Lead Engineers/Principal Engineers or Senior Engineers, create Incident Narratives to build a better understanding of what happened even for incidents where we don't run a PIR.
d) Investigators use Jeli during the PIR meetings to summarise the incident via the visual narrative timeline and capture insights from the PIR meeting in the takeaway section afterwards
e) We also sometimes use Jeli as a training/education tool in that we analyse the coordination and communication aspects of past incident response and use that to teach other incident responders.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi Pirmin, thank you so much for this review and feedback, it's great to read about all the ways your team uses Jeli for Incident Analysis! Thank you for the feedback about conversations as well—this is something we discuss quite frequently internally, and we have some ideas to address this on the roadmap!

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2024

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

the use of pagerduty is very relaible, and portal is very organzied and implementation of that software is very easy, and in last the UX is very good

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

it is little bit Costly, many of time they send multi alert for short span of time which irritate to us rest all is good.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reliable, Incident management is very good and systematic way thats all

  ### 32. Allows us to spend more time on learning from incidents!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

For us, Jeli has been great for eliminating the burden of managing the administrative side of incidents. As an enterprise company, we work hard to monitor the impact that incidents have on our business, and that comes with some administrative tasks to ensure we capture the right information. Jeli has allowed us to automate many of our processes and enable our engineers to declare and go.

Aside from the IR bot, the actual narrative builder has been a huge time saver with auto import of the information we need whereas we had to scrub slack for all related events and messages and run our retros from a Google Doc. For incident management, the most important part of it all is recovery and learning about happened, by removing the overhead of data collection, we're able to jump right in with no hesitation and are retro-ing more often because the burden of preparing the necessary information is taken care of for us.

The Jeli team as a whole has been incredible! They're exceptionally responsive, friendly, and care deeply about their customers. They've gone as far as building out custom functionality to support us and listen to their customers need. Special shout out to Lesleanne who has been our primary contact and an absolute joy to work with. I'm excited to see what Jeli comes up with in the future, as from what I've seen, the roadmap looks very promising.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Thus far, nothing that we've disliked! We've requested a few customization options which are on Jeli's roadmap and they've been great in working with us and their other customers to influence prioritization of their features. One thing that I do love about Jeli is the simplicity, whereas other incident management platforms feel bloated or like they're trying to do too much.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reducing the burden of administrative tasks which allows our teams to better focus on learning.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi there, thanks so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review of Jeli, we really appreciate it. And we love hearing how much value your team has found in every aspect of the Jeli platform—especially in terms of time saved and the ability to generate helpful insights quickly. Hearing that you run more retros because of Jeli is music to our ears! Please continue to reach out if you need anything!

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Customer support has been very helpful with the onboarding process. So I don't dislike this wonderful software.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Now, each alert is appropriately managed based on its severity as it solves our problem with incident management and prevents us from missing alerts. Furthemore, navigating between the tools is easy and I can find the tools I need at all times.

The platform has everything you need for using as a tool to learn from incident. It has all the cool features that you can use for PIR meetings, and also the team is great at getting feedback to improve their tools and fix any issues that may arise.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Maybe the learning curve is not really low, so you still need to learn it a bit, but then after 1 or 2 times using it, it will be super easy.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to provide the tool to be easy to learn from incident, by exploring different angles of the incidents.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi Steven, we're really happy to hear that your team finds Jeli useful for all aspects of your incident management! And yes, we're always listening to customers and hard at work to make things even better, all the time.

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

I have been using PagerDuty for almost 7 years. It helps us in scheduling On call shifts with ease and override the schedule anytime you want. The most important thing is the alerting. PagerDuty never fails to alert any critical situations in production environment. I can acknowledge the alerts anywhere. It does not matter if you have internet connectivity, you can get alerts in all forms.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Nothing I could think of right now. Please keep developing the product.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to get into the system to see what is wrong. Instead, I can address the problem when PagerDuty alerts me.

We haven't run into any major downsides so far. The team and the product are very helpful. We're looking forward to what they come out with next.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi Justine, thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it! Saving teams time is one of the reasons we exist, so it makes us very happy to hear that Jeli was able to give the team time back to spend on other high-priority efforts. We also love hearing how much value people outside of tech teams are gaining from the communication and coordination that Jeli enables, so it's great to hear you call that out specifically. Please continue to reach out if there's anything else we can help with!

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

The customer support sometime slow and high price of PagerDuty are the only real issues it has for my little company.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To keep track of and coordinate issues across all of my platforms, I utilise PagerDuty.
It helps me manage workload automation effective.

  ### 40. Best alerting application

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vishakha M. | Site Reliability Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Pagerduty provides the best UI to manage teams , services and their schedule. You can create different types of alerts depending on the severity of the issue. You can integrate it with the different apps like teams , Gmail, slack to get notified.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Multiple alerts at the same time can be confusing. So inorder to check the multiple things at a time you need to set a schedule. So due to this issue , the acknowledgement to the incident sometimes get difficult and need to login to the system to ack/ resolve.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Two major problems incident management and alerting is resolved with the Pagerduty. You can create teams , manage their services and create schedule and so easy overrides. So many things under one place.

  ### 43. Thoughtful, thorough, friendly, clear, and concise!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Jeli gets people excited about learning from incidents. It's thoughtfully designed to maximize the limited time most orgs are willing to spend on post-incident work, and the incident response features match my team's needs. Our rep Chloe is amazing and extremely helpful - providing training, gathering feedback, and all this made our launch very smooth. Jeli is easy to set up and configure on your own, but the support from Chloe and the team were above and beyond. I also really appreciated the data/metrics-driven approach and goals when we launched.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Learning from incidents isn't the same as the root cause analysis process that most people are familiar with. Jeli definitely makes the learning approach much simpler, but I think they rely heavily on an internal sponsor to help show the true value. Your org might need to be "ready" for Jeli and the learning from incidents approach, although they make this so easy from the start.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting the most learning and value from incidents (opportunities!) in the limited amount of time we're willing to spend on post-incident work. Additionally, helping us clearly and easily coordinate during incidents.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Hi there, thanks so much for the feedback—we're really happy to hear that Jeli has enabled your org to respond to incidents more effectively, as well as streamline your post-incident process. And yes, Chloe is amazing and we love her too!

Thank you for the feedback on our approach to Learning From Incidents. This is definitely something we're aware of, so we aim to be partners to our customers to help them on this journey with education and materials to bring their teams along in the process. We don't want to be "just a tool", we want to help transform orgs to view incidents in a completely different way. It's why we do what we do!

  ### 44. Amazing product, awesome team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Great insights into our incidents. Helps our incident responders write awesome incident reviews that make it easy for others to learn from. Beyond a really great product, the team truly treats us like partners, and have gone out of their way to help us level up our incident response and review process.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

I haven't seen any so far, it's been a huge help and the people we work with are incredible resources.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Incident review, along with all of the learning that is necessary to make incidents have value for our teams and our customers.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Michael, thank you so much for this review and feedback! It is a core value of ours to be true partners with our customers, so it's wonderful to hear that's been your experience as well.

  ### 45. It's hard to imagine a better incident management tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Jeli provides the structures and reminders the team needs without getting in the way. It's got a low barrier to creating incidents, automated workflows are incredibly optional, and the incident reports at the end are informative and readable. We use it for every incident and the incident overviews are great at giving Customer Support the right amount of information.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

It can take a long time to really put together a good timeline and determine which messages are the most critical.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jeli provides a light weight way to structure incidents. Easy to forget pieces of process like updating the incident status can be automated through reminders for example. We bought it for incident reporting, but we use it for every incident because it makes the actual incident process so much smoother.

**Official Response from Rian van der Merwe:**

> Thank you for this great review and feedback! We love hearing when our customers use our tools for all aspects of incident management, from response all the way through learnings—and using those learnings to improve the org. That's the dream!

  ### 46. Perfect product for oncall

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shibashish S. | VP, Projects, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Well... Pagerduty is almost perfect for oncall in terms of a product. It has all the features for on-call and incident management, alerting and escalations with good reporting. It has great integrations with almost all the monitoring tools as well as with communication tools like Slack and Teams. It provides a rich API which can be used for further customization if anyone is interested.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Pricing would be the primary dislike for me. They increased cost for us without even informing. Eventually we had to switch off the service although we liked the product. Billing customer support has been pathetic. We have been working with them for over 8 months now just to close our account and no one there has a clue.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Setting up on-call schedules is a breeze. The team knows when their schedule is, who is on call for the service and whom to contact for the specific services.
Ability to open incidents and contact respective teams is possible with their great slack integration.

**Official Response from Dan Anderson:**

> Hi there – Thank you for the honest and thoughtful review. We’re glad to hear PagerDuty made a strong impression as a comprehensive on-call and incident management solution, and that you found value in our integrations, reporting, and customization options.

We’re genuinely sorry to hear about your billing experience and the challenges you faced during the account closure process. That’s not the level of support we strive to deliver, and your feedback has been shared with our internal teams to help us improve. We understand how frustrating that situation must have been and appreciate you taking the time to share it.

If there’s anything we can do to help follow up or revisit the conversation, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d welcome the opportunity to reconnect.

  ### 47. Best tool to handle blocker and urgent outages

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ajinkya B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

PagerDuty is a powerful tool for IT operations that helps teams to manage incidents and alerts. It provides a centralized view of all incidents so that teams can quickly identify and respond to problems.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

The user interface can be a bit complex, and it can take some time to learn how to use it effectively. PagerDuty does not have a built-in ticketing system, so teams must use a third-party solution for this purpose.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PagerDuty provides a centralized view of all incidents so that teams can quickly identify and respond to problems. Also, It can be used to automate the alert management process, such as sending notifications to the appropriate team members and escalating alerts as needed.

  ### 48. Jeli is the future of Incident Analysis.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Casey R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Jeli's solution focuses on the human element. So many other solutions in this space focus on root cause analysis and other technical automations that fail to recognize that the necessary ingredient for a resilient system is people. Root cause analysis is at best a waste of time, because it enables hindsight bias to place blame on a technical accident. You can't prevent accidents. Focusing on the 'cause' of an accident is a waste of time, because you can't do anything about that. Instead using Jeli you can learn from the narratives of the people closest to the work, and you can use that to identify and fill in knowledge gaps distributed throughout the team. That is useful!

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

It isn't obvious how to get everyone to buy into the concept of using Jeli at first. If upper management isn't on board yet, then you need resources outside of Jeli to convince them of the approach.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning from incidents (LFI) so we can make our software more robust.

**Official Response from Amanda MacLeod:**

> Hi Casey-- We are so happy to hear you are enjoying your experience using Jeli.io for your incident management!

  ### 49. Jeli does exactly what we want

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

We used to write prep docs for incident retro and analysis by hand - Google Docs, spreadsheets, that kind of thing. Having Jeli support building a timeline from data we already have in Slack is _magical_ for making that easier, and we've also used Jeli mid-incident: "hey, hasn't this happened before? How'd we fix it last time?"

The jeli slackbot for running an incident also helps us keep to consistent IR practices, which is extremely valuable as our organization scales. It's lightweight and non-prescriptive, but we can use it to remind people how we do things on our team.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

No notes, really. There's room to grow the featureset - integrating with more tools, ACLs to protect data relating to sensitive incidents - but we've found it useful as-is. Training people to use it took a little doing, but wasn't super hard; incident management is an expert practice, and it makes sense that even a tool that makes that practice more accessible is going to require some prep and user education.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Makes it easy enough to analyze an incident that we do it more often - it used to require enough time and effort that we retro'd fewer of our incidents than we wanted. We've also used it to manage information streams for various audiences, particularly providing updates to non-eng stakeholders that appropriately summarize the ... chaos ... that often pops up in an active incident response.

**Official Response from Amanda MacLeod:**

> Hey Ian, we are so glad your team is enjoying Jeli! We have an exciting roadmap for the year-- stay tuned for more releases! :)
