"Intuitive Interface, Email Filing, and Outstanding Support Make Newforma a Standout"
What do you like best about Newforma Project Center?

Intuitive user interface. My company rolled this software out to us about a year ago and I have been the one responsible for implementation and training within my department which means I use it nearly every day for one reason or another. Like all new software, there is a bit of a learning curve, but for the most part basic navigation in the Project Center and the Outlook Add-In are very simple and easy to use. Though this is an incentivized review, that has in no way affected the content. I am a huge fan of Newforma and already do recommend it to those I know. Lori and the support team have always been incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and quick to respond. On top of that, there is a very extensive library of guides and how-tos that often answer my questions before needing to contact support. There are many features I haven't gotten to use much yet, but the Action Items, Meeting Minutes, and InfoExchange have been a huge time-saver for our group. There seem to be multiple ways to do almost everything in the Project Center which is really useful to get all users on board with whichever way is easier for them. What do you dislike about Newforma Project Center?

As a general user, my team's biggest struggle has I think come from the implementation with our system. I'm told this isn't a problem with 64-bit, but my outlook 32-bit has caused NPC to crash a number of times. It's been really frustrating that the HTML5 add-in has had such limited functionality compared to the old COM add-in though thankfully some of this functionality was restored with the latest version release. I also really dislike the way email filing is processed. Not sure if this is for us specifically or just how Newforma does things, but it files for one user at a time ordered alphabetically. The problem comes when one user has an error (in my case is typically due to project number or linked folder changes) that causes the the file processing to crash, it will restart back at the top of the list then crash again when it hits the same user if the error hasn't been resolved. This has lead to many instances of employee emails not getting filed for days until someone notices and corrects the problem. I really wish there were a way for the auto-file to skip the individual user who is causing the crash so the remaining users don't see a delay in processing. What do you like best about Newforma Project Center?

As a small-scale user of Newforma Project Center, we find the email documentation and search features to be especially valuable. Our projects often span many years, beginning with initial concepts, feasibility studies, and educational specifications, and continuing all the way through to project closeout. The ability to store emails and reassign different Project Managers over time is a significant advantage. When a new Project Manager takes over a project, it is very helpful for them to review the correspondence to quickly get up to speed. What do you dislike about Newforma Project Center?

The email search functionality leaves much to be desired. Additionally, we often encounter the issue of emails being saved as duplicates when different users file them. It would be helpful if there were a way to prevent these duplicate emails from being created. As an Owner there are often confidential communications added to Newforma and it would be a great to have a way to "lockbox" those and only allow key individuals access. What do you like best about Newforma Project Center?

I like how organized Newforma Project Center is and that it has many functions for building construction projects. It allows me to be efficient with my time and helps categorize the difference between various items such as RFI's, and large transfer files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Newforma Project Center?

I would appreciate if there could be a dark mode version because the white display really strains the eyes, especially for people that work on the computer constantly. The window can be so big sometimes, even though you can minimize it. But then you're always working with new windows that are white and it won’t allow you to minimize the main window when opening an RFI or submittal. A dark mode would really help that. What do you like best about Newforma Project Center?

I really appreciate how Newforma Project Center provides a centralized location for all project information, making it easily accessible for the entire team. The ability to file emails in one place significantly streamlines project management. I like the feature that allows me to log items directly from my email and track file transfers with greater detail, which is incredibly efficient. This software has been instrumental in reducing the reliance on spreadsheets, limiting user data entry errors, and cutting the log time in half, thereby improving overall productivity. The integration with Outlook is particularly useful for logging submittals and RFIs, as well as saving emails, contributing to better organization and easier retrieval of project documentation. What do you dislike about Newforma Project Center?

I find Newforma Project Center to be slow, with too many steps needed to complete one action, which makes it time-consuming. The mobile apps are clunky and not user-friendly. The Android apps do not work at all, affecting half of our staff who use them and eliminating our use of field activity centers. "The Critical Role of Search Functionality in Project Information Management via Newforma"
What do you like best about Newforma Project Center?

One of the most valuable features of Newforma Project Center is its robust indexing and search functionality. On large-scale or mega projects, we often manage hundreds of thousands of emails, transmittals, meeting minutes, and various other project documents each month. The ability to quickly and accurately locate specific information within this volume of data is essential—and Newforma’s search capabilities make that possible.

Before implementing Newforma, emails were typically stored using traditional email platforms or by manually dragging copies into project folders within Windows Explorer. This method presented a significant limitation: emails stored in Windows folders could not be searched without opening each message individually. Given that some projects generate thousands of emails in a single week, this manual process was both time-consuming and inefficient.

Newforma eliminates the need for such manual searching by indexing all project communications and documents, allowing users to retrieve relevant information instantly using keywords or phrases. What do you dislike about Newforma Project Center?

One of the less effective aspects of the program is its Help section. While it offers a wealth of information, it often lacks clear, task-oriented guidance, making it difficult to understand how to complete specific actions. Additionally, many of the instructions are vague or confusing—likely written by subject matter experts without consideration for users who are new to the platform.

As a workaround, I’ve found it helpful to search for solutions or user-generated tutorials on Google. Although not always directly helpful, these searches often introduce alternative keywords or phrasing that refine my queries and lead to more useful results. Another challenge within the Help articles is the excessive number of embedded links, which can easily lead users off-topic. In some cases, navigating back to the original content is difficult, and the detour leaves me more confused than when I started. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Newforma Project Center?

From an IT administrator’s standpoint, what I like most about Newforma Project Center is how it centralizes project data without adding overhead. It integrates with Outlook and our file servers, so users don’t have to change the way they work. The search is a lifesaver. People can find their own emails and files, which cuts down on helpdesk calls. No duplicate storage, straightforward AD permissions, and overall it saves both IT and end users a ton of time. What do you dislike about Newforma Project Center?

What I dislike about Project Center is that the client can be a little glitchy at times, and with all the horsepower it brings, it can feel heavy when working across a VPN. That said, the tradeoff is worth it, once connected, the depth of features and centralized access to project data more than make up for the occasional hiccup. What do you like best about Newforma Project Center?

I absolutely love how Newforma Project Center keeps me organized across all my projects. With its project homepage, I'm able to manage and stay on top of around 40 projects that I am currently working on. This functionality is essential in helping me plan effectively and ensure my team is aligned and in full control of our tasks. It's not just about the day-to-day organization; Newforma Project Center allows me to fulfill my responsibilities to the fullest extent possible. The software has been a fundamental part of how I do my job over the years, and I truly feel that I couldn't manage my work without it. We've been using it for as long as I can remember—it's a trusted and critical tool for our operations. I particularly appreciate the project's feature-rich environment and supportive framework, which surpasses other software options out there. Also, integrating Newforma with Procore through Procore Connect has been fantastic. This integration significantly reduces the redundancy in information entry and saves me time, making my work process more efficient. What do you dislike about Newforma Project Center?

I feel that Newforma Project Center could benefit from improvements in its contract management features. Recently, we removed supplemental information and replaced it with QAQC instructions because the industry's trend is moving towards a QAQC process. Having an integrated QAQC process within Newforma would not only enhance the software but also provide great value to the clients. Additionally, when clicking on a specific project, there are many tools listed under favorite activities, project management, contract management, field management, and building information management. I find Newforma Project Center to be quite intuitive, making it easily understandable and not overbearing in its setup. This simplicity in learning how to navigate the software is very beneficial, especially when bringing new members onboard. It accelerates the training process, allowing new users to quickly understand and leverage its functionalities. The software's design helps in swiftly implementing and tracking various projects as we desire. The different levels of operation within the Project Center facilitate speeding up parts of our early design processes, which is incredibly valuable to our workflow. Additionally, the installation on my individual machine was very painless, enabling me to start using it without issues. What do you dislike about Newforma Project Center?

Some of the templates in Newforma Project Center seem a little clunky and maybe a bit outdated. A significant issue is the integration of the HTML5 plugin for filing emails, which sometimes does not perform as expected, requiring us to revert to using older methods. This inconsistency makes it difficult to fully integrate this feature into our workflow. Additionally, most of our company is not yet using the new Outlook, presenting a challenge in adapting to new methods. Newforma Project Center has become our primary source of truth for project information, from promotional phase through project construction and beyond. What do you like best about Newforma Project Center?

Newforma Project Centre allows us to manage the vast number of files and emails associated with our projects. The search feature makes it easy to locate information, and overall, the platform is user-friendly.

As a multi disciplinary practice we also make use of the many Activities in NPC. Our Site Inspectors use the Capture app to help with their site visits and quickly generate reports through the Site Visit activity.
