"Microsoft SQL Server Serving the Masses"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

MS SQL Server is a robust, well-established relational database manager. Support for it exists in so many forms. Microsoft of course provides the primary source as the producer and ultimate authority on the product. However, there is an abundance of forums, blogs and users groups with a wealth of information, whether you need to troubleshoot an error, solve a problem or what tips and shortcuts for everyday tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It's a Catch-22. For all of the prestige of being so feature rich and robust, it is a complex product with many nuances that differ from the version in the year 2000 to today. Managing the change and keeping up require real effort and occasionally it's best just to pay an expert.

Let's talk about licensing. If major re-sellers have people whose title and sole purpose is Microsoft Licensing Specialist, then things have gotten out of hand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Wide network of people. Theres a large community of people using this product so several blogs and stackoverflow pages of information is available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Sometimes it's slow. Especially when lots of people are trying to access the product at the same time. Also, the service could be better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good Simple database easy to setup and maintain"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Let's just admit it is a windows software so really really easy to set up and maintain. You can get running in a few hours and it all good. But without good DBA, procedure and security and change control, it can quickly spiral out of control. suddenly you can have 100s of databases running all over and you have no idea why and who is using them. security can be tricky to maintain as you need to know inside out of active directory and Microsoft user administration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It can go out of control very easily, administrators need to be really careful and have to be well trained. It's a good technology which is evolving fast. But you need a lot of planning and tight control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
