What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I have been using MS SQL for more than 6 years now, I have worked on both noSQL and mySQL dbs; from my experience MS SQL has the best reliability for long term usage with standards maintained over large and small sized Datasets.

At the same time, many resources, plugin support, workbench usages and continuous development from MS makes it on the top as always. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

I feel there is not anything that I dislike but something I can advice is to develop it for large Datasets on non-cloud services as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Retrieving, filtering and integrating data from large clusters of data and publishing on to websites for analytics.

What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL overall is very easy to use. It is a relational database, so there isn't many things that it doesn't do well. Performance wise, I have not had a problem. I do prefer to use a different database viewer than Microsoft's SQL Server Management Studio. I personally use HeidiSQL. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The UI for the SQL Server Management Studio could be better, but other than that, no complaints. Do not let the poo UI distract you from the power of Microsoft SQL. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

The range of options are pretty good. High Availability and Disaster recovery options on Microsoft SQL server are surplus. Very easy to use deploy and maintain Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Comes in different versions and always confusing users whether which option has the capabilities they require. While Standard version should suffice almost all the needs, we need Enterprise version for doing particular things, which is kind of expensive Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft SQL Server:

Worth using. Try it with SQL server express, which is a free version from Microsoft, so that you can get some understanding on the capabilities of SQL server. Please note a lot of features are not available in the sql server express. You may need to atleast try a standard version which is not that expensive and you should be able to buy them based on number of CPU cores you are using. You will be amazed by its latest features where you can manage the system with lot of ease. Once the system is set up, try using database mirroring, log shipping, Snapshot Replication, Transactional and Merge Replications to see its capabilities. SQL server Integration services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) really comes handy to analyze and report your Companies Data. Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) is made pretty easy with SQL Server. Worth a try. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The security that provides.

The ability to use stored procedures and complex functions.

The creation of views in very useful and easy to generate.

The backup is done in several click in design mode.

The execution of procedures and query are very fast.

It consumes resources.

A database should give us that sense of security that is what sql server does, it is very secure and allows scalability, in addition the database manager Management studio works excellent with sql server, if you are going to develop applications for window there is no better database.
