"Microsoft SQL From a BI Point of View"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL syntax is very simple to understand and once the user knows Microsoft SQL language they can easily pick up other languages such as SAS, Visual Basic, etc. They layout of the tool is similar to a majority of Microsoft products which makes navigation a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Other SQL tools recognize script commands and provide helpful recommendations. Microsoft SQL doesn't always provide that to the user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Enterprise Class Database"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL Server is a robust database platform. It is easy to develop and deploy large scale applications for the enterprise. The tools for managing and monitoring are very good as well. I really like how you can partition data across different drives to maximize performance. I also like the ETL tools (SSIS) for moving data around and integrating it with other solutions. SSRS is also really good for creating a sophisticated library of reports that can be easily consumed by a wide array of audiences. SSAS is also a robust platform for creating data warehouses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

I wish there was a robust data modeling tool that comes with SQL Server. I also wish there was a robust compression algorithm when performing backups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Trustworthy and Powerful Database"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I have used SQL Server since 2000. I basically was forced into this because GoldMine started using it. Since then I have used versions up through 2012. It is powerful. Expandable. Reliable. I am no DBA. So I don't use but a small part of what is available. But it does everything that I need it to. It is an industry standard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It is very complex. Each new version requires re-training and learning new functionality. But that is both good and bad. If you have a large organization with many users it can be expensive. But there are also free versions for the little guys. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
