My first database was Sybase followed by several years of Oracle. When I was introduced to SQL Server, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was very much like Sybase which made learning it a piece of cake.

I dislike the inability to opt to truncate longer fields rather than refuse to insert them (i.e. inserting more data than can fit in a field). Ease of use and management of the back office services. We have managed to train our users in very short time working with our business software provider. SQL helped in managing and collecting our data in a usable manner in very short time.
