"SQL Review"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL easily allows me to search through our database and gather information on our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

There is definitely a learning curve at first, so I recommend training to anyone before they try to master SQL. Once you get the hang of it it's good! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SQL Server is a reliable, scalable database for any size application"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

My first database was Sybase followed by several years of Oracle. When I was introduced to SQL Server, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was very much like Sybase which made learning it a piece of cake.

Each release gets better and better. I like the third party apps that can be used along with SQL Server, and it's integration with Visual Studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

I dislike the inability to opt to truncate longer fields rather than refuse to insert them (i.e. inserting more data than can fit in a field). I realize this is a better way of handling it, however it would be nice if there were a setting that would allow that to override that setting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Heart of database"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Ease of use and management of the back office services. We have managed to train our users in very short time working with our business software provider. SQL helped in managing and collecting our data in a usable manner in very short time. Installing and networking our database through our company's multi locations we managed to distribute real time data to all our user and to our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It is a good product and industry standard. There is nothing much to dislike about any part of it. Smaller companies can struggle with pricing but the ROI is very short term and cost can be recaptured with the benefits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I use this software to automate the deployment of packages to other PCs and email results to my team"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I like being able to deploy packages and have all the dependencies automatically installed at run-time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

In general, I feel this tool is overly complex for my needs, but I still work with it as it is the corporate process for deploying database tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SQL Server review from a Software Developer stance"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I like the variety of add-ons and third party tools that can be integrated with it. Also the support out there on the internet. Since it's so widely used there are several forums out there where people post their problems and you get help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

That you have to pay for it but I understand that. I feel like the price could be reduced to make it more affordable for the smaller companies out there. There are probably several companies out there that could not afford it and opted for open source. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SQL Server Integration Services makes cross platform testing a breeze"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

My favorite thing about using SQL sever integration services is how easy it makes connecting and moving data across environments. It is a huge win for productivity Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The one thing I dislike is the speed that sometimes comes with the integration of certain environments. eg: oracle to sqlserver flies but the other way around takes 10x the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"New user of SQL and makes it easy"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

We use the Import export feature in SQL often to perform our configurations, it is much quicker and easier to use than the old method. The easiest way to copy data from a source to a destination Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

I am just learning SQL tools, so far I have not found anything, this has been easy to learn, and use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
