"Full-featured RDB"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Does what I think an RDB should with very little cryptic syntactical sugar. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It's not a document repository. Everything seems to be heading that way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to use with tons of features"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I've used a number of DBMS tools but the thing that stands out to me in regards to SSMS is the ability to analyze execution plans. Not very many DBMS tools have this and the ones that do are not as good.

Along with that, having code complete is another awesome feature. As long as it isn't an Azure SQL db, code complete works really well and is very fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Without a 3rd party add on, there is no code complete when working with an Azure SQL cloud database. Also, unless you are running a new version, it doesn't support connecting to an Azure SQL db using Azure credentials. You need to be sure to have a newer version for this to work. "SQL Server with SAP Business One"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

It is very easy to perform queries with Microsoft SQL Server because of the simplicity of a high level programming language. The trace functionality is really good and provides a really excellent audit tool on the fly. The tools for recurring backup are really easy to use. If you get stuck, there is a lot of information you can find online and in the Microsoft online help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Sometimes the performance when executing some long queries is not what you would expect. Although CPU power is important for this part, but in the company we have really state of the art servers in the NAP of the americas, so it looks like a software issue rather than a hardaware issue. "Best Management System for Relational Database "
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

The Ability to compile multiple tables in a single request allows for better usage and exploitation of the Relational Database. Unlike some tools where all the data has to be compile elsewhere and merged into another tool, this does a sort of "All In One" between the Tables and the Database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

There are much to dislike. In Fact, everything is fairly easy to comprehend and to manipulate withtout too much hassle. Also, Once connected to the Database, it is quite easy to grant other users the ability to also connect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My Go-To Traditional SQL Solution"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL is supported by countless software solutions; most scripting and programming languages. Standard edition licensing for academic institutions is cheap. The free edition limitations are not too stringent, making it very useful for small projects. SQL Management Studio is my favorite query editor and database management tool, and works even with the free SQL editions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

Performance of editions prior to 2016 seems lackluster. Query responsiveness will eventually slow to a crawl until you restart the server process. This can be avoided with proper db design and maintenance, but shows that the product can sometimes require extensive knowledge and experience to fully appreciate. I feel it should be better at self-maintenance and optimization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great databases"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL is a great way to store, maintain, organize and manage data. Lots of options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL Transact replication could be better. It's difficult to upgrade schemas on large databases that can't afford downtime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
