## About Devolutions Server
Devolutions Server (DVLS) is a self-hosted privileged access management (PAM) and credential management solution that helps organizations centralize, secure, and audit shared accounts, passwords, and privileged access on infrastructure they control. It belongs to the privileged access management and password management software categories and is designed for IT teams, security teams, and organizations that need to keep credential storage and access governance within their own environment for control, compliance, or data-residency reasons. DVLS acts as a centralized data source for Devolutions tools such as Remote Desktop Manager and Devolutions Password Manager, providing the vault, permissions, and auditing layer behind them. Administrators store shared credentials in an encrypted vault, define who can access them through role-based access control, and monitor usage through session auditing and activity logs. Because it is deployed on the organization's own servers, on-premises or in a private cloud, teams retain ownership of their data while gaining centralized access-management capabilities. Common use cases include securing privileged and shared accounts, granting and revoking access based on roles, recording and auditing privileged sessions for compliance, and serving as the single system of record for credentials across an IT environment. Key features and benefits include: - A self-hosted, centralized vault for shared accounts, passwords, and privileged credentials, deployed on the organization's own infrastructure - Role-based access control (RBAC) that governs who can view, use, or manage specific credentials and connections - Session auditing, activity logging, and privileged session management to support visibility and compliance - Integration with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID for identity and access alignment - A shared backend for Remote Desktop Manager and Devolutions Password Manager, giving users a governed common workspace Organizations choose Devolutions Server when they require on-premises or private-cloud control over sensitive credentials rather than a managed service. It is suited to regulated industries and IT environments with strict data-control or compliance obligations, and it scales from small teams to larger organizations that need centralized, auditable management of privileged access.

## Devolutions Server Reviews
 ### 1. Secure and intuitive connection management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Devolutions Server?**

Its ability to centralize and streamline the management of remote connections and credentials securely, offering a unified platform and role-based permissions. Every operation is also logged

**What do you dislike about Devolutions Server?**

the cost is not to be overlooked, in a medium-small company licensing is expensive.
The initial setup can certainly influence the actual intervention time but it certainly speeds up future accesses.

**What problems is Devolutions Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows to centralize the changes made by a colleague, give visibility and access to a colleague without necessarily showing them the passwords.
It also falls within the regulatory constraints on security privacy

 ### 2. Great product, great support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2024

Great product, great support, remote desktop and password vault

**What do you dislike about Devolutions Server?**

nothing i don't like about it, support is great

Remote desktop connectivity and secure password vault

 ### 3. Password management for your business

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stian S. | Cyber Security Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Devolutions Server?**

The most helpful thing about the DVSL is that it is easy to configure, easy to use and covers the needs for password management everywhere you are. You could connect from home or anywhere you are, and it will work as seamlessly as on work.

**What do you dislike about Devolutions Server?**

Haven't had any issues with the DVSL yet, other than when we updated the RDM client we had to update the DVSL to a higher update than we would like. However, Devolutions was very helpful in providing us information as to what update we should use and downgrade the client.

**Recommendations to others considering Devolutions Server:**

Devolutions don't have much downtime, however, if there is anything that occurs, they are very cooperative and give helpful tips and guidance!

**What problems is Devolutions Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Password management in a safe environment. Devolutions was one of the companies that had a reasonable price for the amount of scope it covers. We work with a lot of OT machines and clients, so storing sensitive passwords to log in to something was set high for the search for a password management.
