What I've come to appreciate most about BeyondTrust Password Safe is its ability to grant just in time access for very specific tasks and have the entire session recorded automatically. We moved from a model of trust to a model of verification. Passwordless Checkout is probably the vendors favorite part. They don't see the password. They just log into their portal request the system they need and launch the session once it's approved. So much cleaner. We can watch a vendors session live if something seems off. It's been useful for walking them through a complex fix. For admins there's a learning curve with the terminology like Smart Rules but once you're past that its straightforward. Now for what could be better. The mobile app is quite limited. It's fine for approving a request when you're away from your laptop but you can't do any serious administration from it. We rolled out BeyondTrust Password Safe to get control over domain admin and infrastructure service accounts across two data centres and Azure subscriptions. Before this creds lived in a messy mix of KeePass files and temporary spreadsheets. The check out/check in model with brokered credentials and automatic rotation works best for us. Now admins requests access to a window cluster and they get time boxed approval. Then they launch SSH session without seeing the password. That removed the habit of screenshotting or copying creds to chats. Password rotation with dependency mapping handled our IIS app pools and SQL service accounts without breaking services.
